ok i am new regarding all this stuff, so should i be changing my modem or router ? dam blur LOL
*
erm,, unifi doesnt have a "modem", ours is BTU, the silver box where fibre cucuk in brows.gif den the LAN cable pulls to the router, which is the dlink, so change the dlink to anything else, tplink for the cheapos and Asus for the ego boost

well i saw ASUS RT-N14UHP looks good LOL, btw is there really any use ? i mean getting such high price router like some even reach 1k+ etc ?
*
asus routers have features that are immensely useful, and the higher tier asus have better wifi distributions and penetrations, so a 3 floor house has a typical working wifi range of a floor, but with asus, 3rd floor gets network

Lol overkill la bro. AC1900 is more than enough or AC3150 v2 from TP-Link is good enough.
*
for 3 floor networking, it isnt an overkill

Yes but a decent router + AP setup would be better for a 3 floor.
*
actually a router + powerline will do, cheap and gooding, like I setup my house tongue.gif

wa, the model u guys recommend @.@, i used to thought last time RM 100+ router will do lol
*
okok, lets drop down to peasant level setup, for a 3 floor, you can get a router like N4UHP, and for the rest of the floors, depending you want wifi there or not, this kit will solve your problem

Depends la bro. If your house have three-phase wiring or if the electrical wiring is old or not wired properly, powerline won't be a good option. I'm also staying in a 3 floor but my powerline is unreliable as my house have three-phase wiring. So far, it's still okay but I'm thinking of eventually having an access point on each floor.
*
mine is single phase in double floor house and so I m loving it, though now using 100mbps LAN only, might go for gigabit AC powerline

so means that even i change to that N4UHP, my connection still cant reach other floors ? or can reach but not that good ?
*
better solution is powerline, but check your house wiring if it is single phase or a 3 phase, if single you are good for powerline

im using unifi, but tm dont have new firmware. still using 2016 firmware
*
new firmware isn't exactly necessary if the router works just fine, like pc bios, if it works for you don't touch it

Ok, may i know the models for modem & router?
*
unifi doesnt exactly uses "modem", its a STB proprietary to TM themselves, cant get them outside stores i suppose, finding a 2nd hand might be possible though

router wise, they "normally" provice TP-Link

Aah ok, thanks for the info. My bad, I thought installation is the same as streamyx.
*
well, they dont run adsl line if it is a home resident, it needs a fibre convert to readable data for router

Just got my Unifi upgrade to 100mbps and i must stressed that the Dlink DIR-850L is so unstable i need a recommendation from the sifus here for a stable router (not high-end stuff)

The cylinder DIR-850L gave me mixed speedtest result. Sometimes max out at 100+mb sometimes 30-40mb with high ping times most of the time.

My Asus RT-N12HP has served me well but its only a single band router. Would like to know if theres anything below RM500 thats good enough.

Thank you in advance all!

get the archer c5 tp link, tm gives that too
