Hmm not sure how to describe this, but it'll be used for taking photos for travels n scenery

Also will my budget of 2k+ be able to get a decent 1?

To be honest, smartphone camera will do which is why I asked what you (your sis) will be using the camera mainly for (type of shoots, special features etc). Either as an enthusiast/hobby or professional level.

Within your budget you can get the Sony A5100 with kit lens (RM1.8k). But if your sis is not keen with the interchangeable option for mirrorless lenses in the future, you can opt for the smaller, much simpler point and shoot Sony RX100 MK2 (RM2.3k) or any other point and shoot that you desire within budget.

Thank you. It'll be more towards hobby. So sorry can't provide you much info as I myself am not sure what is she looking at. Planning to get it for a surprise birthday present before she flies out next month.

In layman term, the A5100 will be a better option if in future she wants to get more lens ; the Sony Rx100 will be better if she wants smtg easy to use? Also what about brands like nikon/fuji?

Yes to the bolded part. Think of it as a mini DSLR.

RX100 is a point and shoot camera just like any other digital camera but with extra bells and whistles which is why price 2k+. Other brands I got no experience using them. This recommendation solely based on my personal experience.

Try lowyat. It will give u at least some idea of the average retail prices outside sony shop. I did research between Lazada and shops there and found very little differences in terms of pricing and rather inspect the item on hand rather than hope nothing goes wrong when arrive on front door. Also if you inspect different shops, you may even get different freebies.

I feel much safer buying from Lazada than Lelong, eBay or other online shops. If anything wrong, you just report to Lazada and they will handle everything (eg: Defective on arrival, Damaged etc) instead of dealing directly with the seller. I Bought nearly 50 items from there incl DSLR Lens, Phone etc plus can use voucher coupons and shopback.

Just make sure the item is by local seller with local warranty and have this two logos on the item page

Check the free bag. Sometimes they maybe different from shop to shop.

Screen protector, personally I think is not needed. Same goes for lens filter. But again, that's just my opinion. If your sister has OCD, then perhaps get them.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). People get uncomfortable with tiny scratch and all.

Camera bag can range from cheap, usually RM99 to close RM1,000 (as far I know of here). But I think you can get a cheap ones in Lazada like RM50 something for a decent size mirrorless bag that can hold at least one extra lens. Just no guarantee if cap ayam made.

Screen protector even the one that comes from the factory also good enough already. My DSLR 7 years old still with it on the LCD laugh.gif

But I not sure how it will affect the touch sensitivity on the Sony A5100 since it has a touch screen display.

Most to most also free gift seller will give is Memory Card. Bag I think handbag also can put in already la haha. The camera is so small. Just don't forget to put the cap back on the lens when not in use.

Same here, I was hesitate at first. But after the first successful purchase of my tablet, all my photographic gears (camera body, lens, filters, extension tube...etc) are all bought from lazada. Really missed those time with the maybank 10% promotion and the fireworks vouchers.

I also buy things from overseas seller, but usually items that are lower than RM500. So far, everything I've order came through. Not even one gone undelivered. thumbup.gif
