Errrm... does anybody know of any production line (i.e. non-custom/non-boutique) 7-string that comes with maple fretboard?

Agile Interceptor comes with ebony fretboard. But for it's price, god knows what kind of ebony it is!

Actually, what's the tonal characteristic of ebony fretboards anyway?

...and which friggin' standard production line 7-string comes with ebony anyway?

Hehe... I won't really consider the Agile as a standard 7-string... not because it's MIC but because it's 27" scale...

How's the maintenance like for ebony fretboards?

Everdying, you were saying that ebony is similar in tone to maple?

So, despite the utter darkness of its colour, it's a bright wood?

Why don't you go for the Jeff Loomis signatuer instead? It comes default with 707s and the neck profile is a thin-C IIRC...

The site is kinda funny. You got a whole bunch of inlay options but they say "NO SHARKFIN INLAYS"!

...and there's always the Vigier Excalibur!

Wouldn't mind... with the RM50k I'd secretly buy a kickash custom shop 7, a dozen kickass p/ups, a Krankenstein etc....

and ask SX to make me a custom 7-string with maple fretboard, 27 frets, EMG81-7/707 p/ups (coz pretty much everything sounds the same with EMGs) and play it for exactly one year.

Then, adios SX!

Too bad SX doesn't make 7-string suprastrats with Edge Pro 7 bridges...

You know what the really really sick thing is about KXK options? They can make 27-fret 7-strings.

'course, it'll probably cost like RM8-9k...

if 2k USD, you got quite a lot of choices. I think you can get the Jeff Loomis for that price range.

beatmasta, the KXK default fingerboard is ebony. can change to maple FOC... leng mou...

eh, EQ yer pinky on left or right hand busted? don't worry, can still play with 3 fingers mou... get a 27 fret neck and don't play anything below 10th fret mou!

Anyway, I just saw Chris Broderick's Betcha Can't Play This 8-finger tapping vid... his guitar looked soooo cool... I'm sure EQ and Beatmasta would agree....

...the playing was friggin' sick. I always thought that it would be some low-gain or clean tone playing. But he use quite medium to slightly hi-gain setting and still quite clean. I like the way his left hand would quickly mute the rest of the strings when he taps with his right hand.

Play piano with one hand, CS with the other... sure terror!
