yeah... when u enter there, the first one u see is the south one...

depends on luck... ive arrived there at 830am before and theres enough space... but another day at same time can have a long que to go in. if ur on a kapchai, not much of a problem as u can move other kapchais around to make space to park ur bike. if ur on a big bike which doesnt have double stand, then might be tough... coz even FZ (those with double stand) will park at the big bike parking area.

north parking is the same entrance as the google pic u posted.. but instead of going into the first parking u see... just keep going and pass by the south parking... just keep following the path there and u will reach it.

I see, noted with many thanks! I saw some videos on YT, sometimes can see big bike parked right at the parking entrance and was wondering just how safe is it to do that. Also, do the parking directly connects to the mall or you need to walk out?

Id say its quite safe... For south end.. The big bike parking is also at the guards table..used to park my previous z250 there too.

There are stairs that brings u up ti ground floor just outside the mall

This talking about the MV bike parking when you go up the ladder end up in front of Maybank/Pondok Police right?

Parked there before on the Big Bike section with my RT.. its almost the width of Kancil, a bit struggle when you pay parking due to small entrance and immediate turning into the big bike section but manageable if you know how...

What you need to do since you going to park there daily, increase the security of ur bike by upgrading your brake/master caliper with security bolt and nuts.. since its the easiest to steal instead the whole bike..

This is a bit off-topic, but since it is somewhat related to public motorcycle parking in Malaysia, I have to wonder...these thieves usually only go for certain types of caliper and master cylinder, right?

Based on theft cases, there should be some 250cc and above bikes they won't even bother looking at, like the CMC classic style bikes, the Z250SL, and the Benelli Leoncino.

semua pun curi. banyak babi punya orang haih but I rather have my things stolen than sabotaged. Heard of cases where people's bike all wires kena potong la, tyre kena pancit, dash/fairings pecah etc

Don't forget BYBRE. The caliper theft cases among KTM, Pulsar and Dominar owners is crazy.

However, I figure there has to be some factors considered by the thieves. I don't think even a person with addiction to theft will just go stealing ANY Nissin caliper because they're very common on many bikes, and there's no thrill in that. The target must be worth something, like 4-piston radial-mounted Nissin calipers, which are uncommon and high-end.

That's why I mentioned the bikes in my previous post, because those bikes don't have calipers with obvious branding and/or are high performance. If they're not desirable by this crowd, they should be relatively safe to park nearly anywhere, like the Honda PCX.

Radial mounted was an example, not literally all that they would target. MT07, Versys, ER6F/N all have dual front discs, which many of these crowd like to mod onto their kapchais. The Vulcan S is the only outlier there because it has a relatively unimpressive brake system. Generally there is always a reason.

On the other hand, are there many cases for R25, Z250, Ninja 250, etc.?

Also, please don't misunderstand. I'm not trying to say people shouldn't be careful and not take security measures, but that there is still a scale that exists for desirability of these calipers. Otherwise, we wouldn't have such things as 'motor sejuk' and 'motor panas'. Kapchai are also equally vulnerable to theft depending on the model, after all, like the Y15ZR V2 head thefts recently.

well logically anything bigger than Kapchai has better braking system if their brake caliper applied to a kapchai?

or perhaps I am wrong? off course the Brembo or Nissin is with gold shining is the primary target, but then if they have opportunity and potential victim why not?

Saw few abandoned bikes on the road and it ranges from Jaguh until RGSports - Mostly kapchai, and guess what, many of them have front brake disc and caliper... (saves the drum brake ex5, but they also missing front rim and such..

The point is, no matter what, better safe than sorry... invest a bit for extra protection wont do no harm.

Because I don't think it's as simple as bigger bikes = better brakes than kapchai = all equally prized. Otherwise the caliper theft cases would be far more widespread. Imagine, all those Chinese and Taiwanese big bikes and maxiscooters would have their unbranded calipers being stolen en-masse too. Instead, we only get cases of specific brands being targeted, other than the abandoned bikes you mentioned which are basically free pickings.

There's performance, but image and trendiness has something to do with it as well. Having something branded like Brembo, Nissin, etc. on your bike gives street cred among peers. Getting a double front disc brake setup on a kapchai is also increased street cred. Radial calipers? Street cred. All of these things factor into why these thefts occur.

Hopefully everyone understands what I'm trying to say here. notworthy.gif

I don't disagree, as I mentioned in my post above. If you ask me, I think the minimum every big biker should invest in is a good alarm brake disc lock.

Anyone engraving his bike plate number on his brake calipers? I remember those days people sand blasting plate number on windscreen and side glasses to deter car thief.

Right now Veison and Kovix seem to be popular, but Kovix is more expensive. Xena was one of the biggest last time but they seem to have closed shop.

If to deter caliper theft while parking, get one alarm disc lock for each disc brake along with reminder cables so you don't forget to take them off before you ride.

You can also enhance the security by throwing in one of those RM20 alarms on your bike. Not the type that needs to be connected to the bike battery, but the ones powered by 9V cell or AAA batteries that come with a remote.

Menara Allianz? At 1U? hmm.gif

Anyway, there's also another motorcycle parking bay (open area with small roof) at the new wing side (Dataran car park).
Refer to the map.
