Hi guys

I just bought a 2011 Kia Forte 1.6 SX

In only two days I had an issue

The left side mirror is jamed

So the buzzing sound just wouldn't stop no matter what I do ( I can adjust up down left right ) but it couldn't close in

The right one works fine

I went to a mechanic he said he doesn't fix Korean cars ... So I'm not too sure what to do ...

Aw man I just got this baby and this happened ... Bad days la

just curious what the top speed for kia forte 1.6? =)
mind sharing?
*
Had done 190~kmh a couple of times on short stretches (5-10km) of the NSE.
The Forte feels at its best at cruising speeds of between 120-150kmh.

Regardless, please be mindful of your and the safety of others whenever you drive.

Hi guys, would to know whats the actual quantity of Kia forte 1.6SX ATF needed. Planning to service the transmission by myself now including engine oil replacement too. Please advise
*
Two answers:

1) If you're using a lubricant flushing machine, you'll probably require 6 liters of ATF.

2) If you're only performing a typical drip dry lubricant replacement process, 4 litres of ATF might suffice (or to be safe, purchase 5 litres (since there aren't any ATF fluid level indicators for the Forte).

Btw, where are you located bro?
If you're willing, we can meet up and DIY service our vehicles together (as I'm planning on flushing/replacing my radiator coolants soon).

guys, where's the best place to change the absorber link with reasonable price as I have the kluk kluk sound on low speeds?
*
I changed mine at my regular workshop in SunwayMas (PJ) area. Can't recall how much was the labour cost, but if I'm not mistaken, it was RM 60 (quite a bit of work getting to the Stab Bar Bushes).
Purchased the Links + Stabilizer Bar Bushes from Express Mobis (Segambut).

Where are you located?

Thanks a lot for your reply,

I will take your advise to sweep through the threads.

If you don't mind to share with me what was the main problem you had with Forte at most,  same question goes for City in comparison.

As for the maintenance cost is Forte more expensive than City? And same question goes for the spareparts. And i heard that kia spareparts are much harder to get than the likes of honda and toyota, is this really the case?

From my online research i came across some facts about some of kia Forte model year along some other kia model got so many recalls as follows: on 2013(brakes issues), on 2015(electrical system issue), on 2016(power train issue), on 2017(brakes issue) and just recently on 1 june 2018 (airbags issue). Did your forte has one of these recalls record?

From your long experience with both,  how is the build quality of Forte in comparison with city (for instance rattling and such)?

A Forte 1.6SX (2012), with ~56K mileage, owner here.
First owner and never had any issues *touchwood* since day-1.

Been maintaining the vehicle regularly with fully-syn engine oil and gearbox oil based on recommended schedules.

Switched the spark plugs to Denso Iridiums, along with Philips X-treme Vision headlight bulbs.

Everything else is kept original/stock.

Have replaced wear & tear parts (stabilizer bushes, link rods).
Bought the original parts from Express Mobis - Segambut, and had them installed by my trusty mechanic at minimal cost.

Wear & tear parts are not expensive, based on personal comparison between my Forte and Toyota Vios (2010), and Perodua MyVi (2009).

Minor complaint would be occassional interior trim (both driver and passenger front door trims in my case) rattling whenever speed breakers are encountered. Other than this minor issue (which also happens to my Vios and MyVi), I've not had any other issues. Possibly due to my habit of parking all of my vehicles in a covered garage, which may/may not help to maintain the integrity of the vehicle parts/interior.

Hope this info helps in your quest for a vehicle to call your own smile.gif

And well done with the mileage,Β  ~56K amazingly low for 6 years old car. πŸ‘
*
Yes, very low mileage as my previous job provides company transport on a daily basis. Hence, I've only had the chance to drive my Forte during weekends or when I'm away from work 😜
Only started to use the vehicle as a daily driver circa mid 2014; and that also for short distances as my work place was pretty close to my area of residence.

My elder brother has been egging me to sell the Forte to him since it is pratically brand new.
I'm still undecided as I'm not sure which car I should get next.

QUOTE(yeowa @ Jun 18 2018, 01:55 PM)
Not comparing to anything... I just feel not comfortable in cornering, feeling the car is swaying a little bit... Might need to check with workshop...
*
Am not trying to be a smart aleck or anything, but perhaps it may be wise to first determine the following before jumping to any conclusion.

1) Are you taking the corners at the proper speeds along with the right racing lines/apex? Without using the proper speed + racing line (and knowledge of the road camber), most conventional sedans/cars would slip and sway, unless fitted with upgrades (anti-roll bars, performance tyres, sport springs, etc.).

2) Are the fitted tyres suitable for spirited driving? The proper tyres used will make a huge difference between losing traction or maintaining grip.

3) Are the roads at optimal conditions for sporty drives? Wavy/Bumpy/etc. roads may affect the handling of any vehicle. Same goes for weather conditions and the positioning of other vehicles on the road (whether they allow you to stick to the racing line/apex or otherwise).

4) If none of the above applies to you, then you may want to get your vehicle assessed for any mechanical/electronic issues.

Cheers!

@cooljiks have mentioned. when you corner or passing by the stripy roads you feel the sway.

If speed breakers are the cause of the slips/loss of traction, then it should be the same across all other vehicles...because that is the intended effect of speed breakers.

Anyhow, pls do practise safe driving at all times ya. Cheers! smile.gif

hey mate... my forte oso facing similar issue. when speed over bump, then quek quek sound... whats the damage ?? mind share the bill list here ? wondering their pricing. Thanks!
*
If you're keen to troubleshoot, the Front Stabilizer Bushes (left & right) and Front Stabilizer Link Rods (left & right) would be the first items up for replacement, with cost being the primary consideration.

Stabilizer bar bushes are about RM 60~70/pair whilst the Link Rods would set you back about RM 80~100/piece (prices may vary by +-10%).
All items are available for purchase via Express Mobis Segambut.

The labour cost for the installation of the Bushes + Link Rods would probably set you back about RM 80~100 (the bushes are a little hard to get to for the Forte).

Hope this helps.

I don't know, that's why I am asking...

Forte HU is using Win CE right ? So anyway to install the software in HU and phone for mirror link ?

Or no way for Forte HU unless change HU ?
*
I don't think the Forte's factory fitted touch-screen HU allows for mirror-link.
However, you are right in that the HU runs on WinCE.
Not entirely sure how you could install a mirror-link software other than through the SD Card.

If you're located in Klang Valley, try going to:
MING WAH CAR COOLER, Kuala Lumpur

The workshop is highly recommended (in terms of pricing & workmanship) by Forte Malaysia Facebook members, and other car forums as well.

You may find their address/location via Google.

P/S - A little word of caution; the workshop area is pretty congested with cars and whatnot. Some members have reported having their vehicles dinged because of the cramped and busy workspace.

Also, please get there super early before business hour starts. There will be loooonng lines of customers every day.

Hi Sifus, just wanna ask, which variant of Forte is better?

KIA or NAZA smile.gif

What is the difference in the spec for year 2011-2013 for both KIA and NAZA 1.6 SX and 2.0 SX?

SX is the best spec, right?
*
Edit: There are no differences between KIA or NAZA badged Fortes. It's just a simple matter of rebadging.

KIA Forte 2010-2011 (pre-facelift) variants:

1.6 EX (4 speed):
This model variant doest not come factory fitted with the items listed under the SX variants, below.
Question to anyone who can confirm: Does the EX model come with Electronic Trunk Release like the SX?

1.6 SX (4 speed), factory fitted with:
- Start/Stop Button.
- Keyless entry.
- Multi-Info Display Gauge Cluster (different from the EX model).
- Auto-Chromic rearview mirrors with Reverse Camera function (not sure if this was already available in the pre-facelift).
- Side-mirror signal markers (in bulb format).
- 17" sport rims vs 16" rims for the EX.
- not sure if there are more goodies besides the above in the SX compared to the EX.

2.0 SX (4 speed):
- all of the goodies available in the 1.6 SX plus leather seats, Cruise Control, resulting in additional buttons on the steering wheel of the 2.0 SX.
- if I missed out on anything else, pls feel free to add them on.

Do note that the initial batch of Fortes (approx. 500-600 units according to unconfirmed sources) are made and assembled in Korea, a.k.a. CBUs.
Thereafter, the rest of the line are CKDs.
You can easily identify the CKD units via the VIN# which starts with the alphabet "P", whereas CBU units' VIN# should begin with "K".

Towards the tail-end of 2011, the 6-speed facelifted version was made available to the Malaysian market.

While nothing much differs between the initial and facelifted version, the biggest difference would perhaps be the change from 4-speed to 6-speed and the addition of Electronic Paddle Shifters + Touchscreen HU + slightly different gear-shift console + a few other minor additions.

Hope my long write-up here helps! smile.gif

I believe this is an isolated case..not a major flaw. I myself do not face this issue since owning the car from 2010.

Somehow this issue also happen to other car brands. Last time my wife's Preve also need to change the ABS sensor..my brother's 3 year old Peugeot 408 also kena. So i believe any cars with ABS are subjected to this issue...

By the way..my next car is also a Kia..just waiting for its arrival..hehe

QUOTE(izputra @ Sep 3 2018, 04:37 PM)
Changing parts at SC usually more expensive. If buy the ABS sensor at spare part shop, it should not cost us more than RM500 for all 4 sensors i believe. Also, changing the ABS sensors should not be labour intensive..might cost less than RM100 if we do it at the outside workshop
*
Yup...only thing is that one should ensure the mechanic knows how to perform the replacement, since sensors are typically sensitive (for all vehicles of various makes and models, especially modern vehicles which are chock-full of sensors everywhere).

If simply hantam hantar mechanic sebarangan, nanti sensor lain pulak kena disturb and you'll end up having endless fault codes popping up on your dashboard.

Hello Geng...
Need some advice/info:

Does anyone know how much is the cost to replace the Forte SX's rear skirting (skirt only with painting of standard Diamond Silver colour; bumper not included)?

Kindly include how much and where in Klang Valley area within your reply-comments, please.

link.

I've asked some bodykit shops, also about there.

Excellent info bro.

I did my own online search as well, but didn't cross my mind to click into and check Lelong.com because I'm so used to the old-skool mindset of vehicle bodyworks = physical workshop.

Failed to think out of the box in order to obtain ball-park figure for the price.

Thanks!

Anyone else has any similar info on KIA Forte OEM Rear Skirt prices (part + paint + installation)?
