Well done, man. These look pretty decent. I like that the light isn't straying into where it shouldn't
*
Yes, hence my extensive reading and analysis on LED design and light emission/patterns before committing.

IMHO, the drawback from my selection of LEDs of a lower price point vs Philip Ultinons would probably be light intensity in low light/lit environments.

The jury is still out on longevity, but I suspect your Ultinons might last way longer than my el-cheapos smile.gif

Hi Bro Izputra... how's life with the K5 GT after approximately 6 months of ownership? How about a brief review? tongue.gif

Nice review. I'm surprise it can be made without any cooling element and running on 55W per bulb. Looks kinda high wattage, usually leds are around 35W. Do u feel any heat on the headlamp after driving for some time?

Would like to see how your csp works in pitch black.
*
Yes..I could feel the presence of heat, but it was much more tolerable than previous halogens used.

Initially, I was quite worried/sceptical about the cheapo LEDs as well. Up to the point where I was constantly checking to see if any parts of my headlamp housing was affected (by the heat, etc.).
Fortunately nothing bad has happened so far *touchwood*.

Great, tempted to get a pair for high beam since my outstation travel involve lots of unlit road.

I've just got a pair of cree xhp50 since the old cob led only last a year. They got pretty good throw with less noticeable hot spot, hope it lasts. Do u have any experience with xhp type? Read that they are somewhat on par with lumileds.
*
Nope, I've not had any experience with LED automotive headlight bulbs prior to my current ones. All the information that I have was gleaned from whatever that is available online.

Also, am not too sure if high luminosity LEDs for high beams are advisable, as I'm pretty sure that it would cause quite a lot of discomfort (glare) to the opposite drivers.

Recommend that you do more research along with multiple real life scenario tests-runs with friends before using high luminosity LEDs for your high beams.

Hi guys, my car having prob with the side mirror autofold issue. any1 got contact to fix this? I called kia svc centre they only provide entire side mirror replacement... faint.
*
Try checking/getting a quote from any one or both of these two contacts (Klang Valley area):

a) Nuruddin (Whatsapp +60 12 5430 458)
b) Jun Tea (Whatsapp +60 13 2091 124)

Try nego on pricing (market rate is around 100 to 120 for each/single side). Once you've resolved, pls share the price and results with us here.

Oh...and if you're able to, pls take photos/videos of how the repair was done. Maybe we can also try to learn how to repair ourselves next time smile.gif

Nothing change... haaaizzz....

If change spring got effect or not?
*
If you're no longer using Stock Springs, then the vehicle may behave differently as the spring rate are no longer the same as the factory setup.

Hello guys, can i know how much to change atf incl. filter for 1.6 Kia Forte. The car workshop guy tell me need to change 5L and incl. filter. All include man hour RM480. I think that is too much and he is overcharging me.
*
The price of the ATF SP4 (for Forte 6-speed) usually ranges between RM 30 - 40/1L bottle.

Unless you are performing a complete flush, 4L of fluid should be sufficient. Labour for such an endeavour should cost no more than RM 30 (unless you're getting additional services/jobs carried out).

The Forte's 6-speed transmission filter is not replaceable (unless the entire unit is disassembled) as it is placed internally. The filter unit will supposedly last the lifetime of the vehicle, provided all the necessary scheduled service and care is followed.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Care to let us know exactly which workshop made the recommendations to you?

Try calling KPAP and Express Mobis @ Segambut. See if it's available there or if they are able to help make a special order for you.

Hello peeps...

Quick Q: Is RM 380 considered a fair price for 1 piece of Forte Rear Skirt (ABS material, which is supposedly lighter than PU material) ?

The RM 380 price includes the standard Forte paint + removal of old skirt + installation of new skirt.

Yeaj I've been reading that the Suprima has a lot problem 😐 even with all the safety features not sure if it's worth it for the price.

How's your fuel consumption & maintenance of your forte? Good?
*
Spare parts & maintenance for the Forte would be cheaper compared to the 2011 Mazda 3.

However, as with any vehicle, it is all entirely dependent on the kind of upkeep and care taken by the owner(s).
Don't expect the car to look and perform great if you trash it without a care in the world smile.gif

Hmm so true. But I read that the parts from Kia some times take a while to arrive. Is that true based on your experience?
*
Truthfully, I've not encountered any instances where I was unable to procure the required replacement parts for my Forte (but then again, I may not have replaced any unique/uncommon parts other than the usual wear and tear items).

Perhaps it might be wise for you to find out in detail the specific part(s) which was claimed as "hard to get" or "takes a while to arrive", so as to have a better understanding of the reason behind such instances.

I cant specifically mention which parts, because that's just me going through the forums and stuff. Some said that some parts take longer to get or a bit more expensive than usual 😅

Which place do you usually go then?
*
Either Express Mobis or KIA Power Auto Parts (KPAP).
Both located @ Segambut area.

1. is the 2012 1.6sx engine using timing belt or chain? Timing chain across the entire Forte range.
2. Is there any belting needed to be replaced as my wife's car mileage has exceed 120k km. V-Belt a.k.a. Serpentine Belt a.k.a. V-Ribbed Belt. This is the belt that drives all the pulleys, giving power to the Altenator, AC Compressor, etc.

thank you again

Are you on Fb?
If you are, I'd recommend you search for "Syaedi Saffuan".
I'm pretty sure he could help obtain the Front bumper, since he is has contacts for Stock SX Bodykits & Koup Bumper, etc.

Tell him Jay (Diamond Silver Forte Rear Skirt) recommended, and he might just throw in some discounts wink.gif

No worries. I was just sharing based on my own personal experience as a customer smile.gif

Good that you've managed to sort things out.
Btw, care to share how much did it cost you for the:

1) New front bumper unit.
2) Painting + Installation.
3) Any other incidental/additional costs.

4) Location and name-contact of Seller/Workshop.
5) Any before & after photos would be nice for others here to check the workmanship out.

Thanks!

Hi guys... Need some help here on my forte 1.6.

Recently this is happening. After some driving and when car comes to standstill, the engine dies by itself. Car is able to restart but the ignition is rough. No check engine light is on before this. Checked battery and alternator is tip top. Clean air intake to engine and also cleaned the sensor labeled 3 of accumulated carbon. After done this 2 cleaning, was fine for 2 days. But then it just happened again. Any advice?
*
What's "sensor labeled 3" ?

Also, are you saying that the Check Engine Light did not light up when the vehicle engine stopped during idling?

If that's the case, you might want to take a look at the Fuel Pump unit; because I've read a few times (not often) that it could be the cause.

Hi to all Sifu here,

Need help on the following:

1) Where can I purchase the hand break leather? The plastic part broken now the inside is partially exposed. Searched online cannot find anyone selling it.

2) In Klang or PJ, can recommend reliable mechanic that know about this car? My car bushes the smaller one has crack while the bigger one I believe may not be in good condition. SC charge around RM500 just to change it. Outside mechanic will not do it if just to change the bush. They recommend change the whole arm where the price is the same as just changing the bush only in SC.

3) where do you usually buy car engine oil and which brand is suitable? I'm currently using shell 5w40.

Thank you
*
1) Not too sure, but try calling Oribro Spare Part Shop @ Jalan Kuching. The boss is quite helpful towards Forte owners and perhaps could help source for you.

2) Have you fixed this yet? If you haven't, try calling RAR Automotive @ Kayu Ara, PJ to get a quote for the fix (changing of bushes). They have the bush removing device (most ppl would call it 'bush pump').

3) Is there a reason you're looking to switch from Shell 5W40 fully synthetic? Isn't the current engine oil that you're using good enough?

I'm kind if happy to report the purple absorbers from KSW are pretty good. So, if you ever get a good deal on them, it's worth considering.
