I bought a pioneer 2 years ago, it was an older model with optical out. I'm not too sure if they make them anymore.

Oh btw, does optical out support 7.1 surround? From what I remember it only goes up to DTS/Dolby or something like that. If you want true surround you'll need to use HDMI. Added on January 24, 2010, 12:55 amQUOTE(Mgsrulz @ Jan 24 2010, 12:53 AM) 500 or less? 2.1 is for you I bought my pioneer for <500 RM, its 5.1 with 2 frontal "rear" speakers. But then again, I bought a display model, so i'm not too sure if you can find anything at that price new. This post has been edited by OmniAtlas: Jan 24 2010, 12:55 AM

If you want true surround you'll need to use HDMI. optical doesn't support 7.1, only maximum 5.1 dolby if i'm not wrong. less than RM500, try sonic gear enzo 7000, it have optical input, but the sound quality is......

It's not a 5.1 system, but it sounds pretty darn close. I use it with living room lcd, and when playing games which depend on knowing where the sound comes from like bioshock, this 2.1 speakers really does the job. I kid you not, I can hear the sounds when its coming behind you even though the speakers are placed in front of me! And watching movies is just amazing. In my opinion, some 5.1 systems, especially entry level ones can't even match this logitech 2.1 setup. If you're still not convinced, go here: http://reviews.cnet.com/pc-speakers/z-2300...7-30993080.html

i'm using altec lansing ADA 885 , been using it ever since my pc modding days, close to 4-5 yrs. Still kicking nicely with THX.
No optical though , sound output directly thru TV headphone output.

Hi there, I recently got a Samsung LED TV and i'm using a HDMI cable to connect my PS3 to the TV. However, my Bose Home Theatre System does not support HDMI input and only supports Composite (the red and white cable) input. My TV also has a Composite audio output. The PS3 system only recognizes the HDMI for both audio and visual. If a change the setting it is only available in 2 channels. How do i setup my PS3 to work with my TV and Home Theatre in 5.1

Wat other connectors does your Bose system hav? If it's jus composite den it cant be a 5.1 system. So u can never get 5.1 sound...
Check again n see wat other connectors tat u hav back there Or mebbe u can giv us d model no. of ur Bose. Tat way it's easier
