QUOTE(kezsz @ Feb 13 2024, 10:51 AM) I personally havent been to Raja Ampat, its always a dream destination, but from my previous research it depends on which part of Raja Ampat you want to dive and how much you want to spend for example liveaboard vs on-land, central vs southern, resort vs homestay, the famous ones are: Papex, Misool Eco, raja ampat biodiversity resort, sorido bay resort (doesnt dive on Sunday last I read), etc...on the expenses of look like I am trying to promote other forum, you can also have a look at scubaboard indonesia, someone wrote a review of diving in Raja Ampat with different operators for like 10 week.. Good Luck, hope you had fun! kezsz liked this post

QUOTE(kezsz @ Feb 13 2024, 10:51 AM) Look for some dive groups that organise trips overseas. Depending on their customer base, they may have trips to R4 that may suit your travel dates/budget. If not, then I guess google will be your best friend. Most people who dive in R4 go for LOBs cause that's the easiest to move around dive sites. You could also wait till MIDE in June to see if there'll be any booths promoting R4. I did land based and was staying at Waiwo Dive Resort, but the only reason was because my friend was organising it, price was right for me and hence the opportunity to tag along. Dive sites were far away and the boats were not that fast, so it took at least 2 hours to get to most dive sites on a small speed boat. But this was also almost 10 years ago, so things may have changed now. Would definitely go for LOB experience next trip. R4 is a must dive for every diver, have fun! |

Just came back from Koh lipe and had my aow and fun dives done there. had a blast there esepcially stonehedge dive site.
they allowed me to use the dive com watch thingie and it looks really interesting. am thinking of getting suunto zoop watch as a starter watch but its so bulky. am wondering how's the dive sites comparing koh tao, koh samui and koh lipe. will it be any better if i dive in koh tao / koh samui. if you were to rank which location is better how much you rank it? ranking all the dive location in thailand only. 1. Koh lipe. 2. Krabi 3. Koh samui 4. Koh tao 5. phuket This post has been edited by ExCrIpT: Apr 29 2024, 07:58 PM |

Hi all.
Could you advise me on a underwater camera solution? I have no real budget set, but still hope to be able to shorten the list of contenders. I will list each with some pro's and con's that apply to my personal situation. I always post-process in Lightroom or Premiere (Elements). I don't care much for direct results. I focus more on wide angle 'general sea life' shots compared to marco sea critter shots. Sea Life Micro 3.0 with Seadragon 3000 lamp Solid setup, no need to use housings. One dedicated device. Grab and go. With €1000 not cheap perse. DJI Osmo Action 4 Diving Set Inexpensive (around €400). Great low light sensor. Great video auto white balance. Less great with photography and also not great for macro. OM System Tough TG-7 Versatile camera. Could use it for climbing or visiting jungles as well. Camera + Housing + Lamp slightly above €1000. Feels like it offers best of both worlds, great macro, but also good wide angle views. Not sure how the sensor compares with the DJI one which is quite good. Olympus PT-EP10 + EPL6 + Seadragon Lamp This would be an older system, so the price is the lowest of all options. The camera however is almost 10 years old afaik. The lamp would be the most expensive part. I would not like the fact I have to carry around this whole setup during my travels. |

QUOTE(DikkieD @ Jun 25 2024, 12:22 AM) Hi all. Actually you have you ask yourself what you want... Are you starting macro or wide angle? Or are you just into videos for social media... Tg7 tbh is the best startup into macro but not so good in wide angle... Gopro, insta 360 will be good for Instagram, tik tok videos... So yeah what are you getting into will allow you to narrow down what you need to getCould you advise me on a underwater camera solution? i think most importantly, how much you are serious about taking pics. i have many friends stop taking pics after a while as it got bored and once you chase enough of the pics and not enjoying enough of the dive. i carry a sony fdr-x3000 because i just want to record the interactions, and post FB/IG, but not go super into the super creative/pics stuffs. carrying the whole setup all dives is boring, not to mention, if you're new diver, distracts you more.
that said, i agree with Kezsz, TG7 probably best of all since small enough and versatile enough for most |

Can someone suggest where i can sell my underwater photography equipment in Malaysia?
I tried posting it on the Buy and Sell Scuba Equipment Malaysia FB group but they keep rejecting my post. They may think i'm some scammer as my FB account is fairly new. Hello Helloooo.. I am planning to do refresher course after 8 years of not diving. Any suggestion or recommendations? Should I do a pool refresher course in KV first? Or go directly to island? I think it's cheaper to do pool refresher in KV first right?
One good thing is that I am so much fitter comparing with the old me 8 years ago. HAHA! This post has been edited by miyakochan89: Aug 29 2024, 12:08 AM |

Which one is likely the easiest to dive for new beginner who has yet fully confident under the water? |
