Done...toyota full syn 5w/40 really expensive compare to other.

@ameyhazuan
I ask around the sc regarding ECO off. They answer it will really turn off the ECO not indicator.
The only way to disable dlr is unplug the cable to ballast which is not recommend. Not only me complain during night time thet really annoying alot of ppl also complain. Nit much can do.

Then its really got effect for the ECO indicator. Gotta give it a try during trip back to hometown. Thanks for the info.

For DRL, doesn't they have fuse connected? Maybe remove the fuse will do? Just asking.

Even sc said that doesn't mean it is true about the eco. Official statement from toyota is that thing just an indicator. Even as we are discussing it in this moment, i already turned off the indicator. Do a full tank and as it progressing, it seems the indicator just an indicator. While eco is on, my fc is 14 ish km/l. With eco off, my fc is 15 ish km/l. If by number, i would say eco off more saving than eco on. But this is subjective as our driving pattern change everyday. What i can conclude, eco just an indicator.

I have read somewhere that toyota introduce this function as a behavioral modification. To make driver drive more economically.

But the new vios will definitely has eco on/off function that change fc.

So, sc's word would be true for new vios but not the old one..

I left my eco on. But I notice sometime when caught in jam and I stop, the eco indicator will off. Sometimes, when I accelerate after passing through smartag also eco indicator will off...other times it is on most of the time. Is there something wrong?

And also I realise my steering got heavy breathing sound. Noticeable if the radio is off. Like dark vader breathing sound...normal?

ECO will on when car is moving more than 5 km/h, else the ECO indicator will off..

For the steering, is the sound come up when you turn the steering? If yes, I believe it is the EPS (Electric Power Steering) motor sound.

It will light on when you are in eco mode. When you are accelerating, fc is high so not in eco mode. When you stop, fc is is very low so no need to turn on the light.

Quoted from toyota's press release...

Beginning in October, Toyota Motor (TMC) will equip its new Japanese-market vehicle models using automatic transmissions with an Eco Drive Indicator, a feature intended to encourage environmentally considerate driving.

The indicator is designed to help reduce CO2 emissions through helping drivers increase their vehicles’ fuel efficiency through better operation.

Based on a comprehensive determination that takes into consideration such factors as accelerator use, engine and transmission efficiency and speed and rate of acceleration, the Eco Drive Indicator, located on the instrument panel, lights up when the vehicle is being operated in a fuel-efficient manner.

Toyota hopes this will raise driver awareness toward environmentally considerate driving and contribute to fuel economy.

Although results may vary depending on the level of traffic and conditions such as the frequency of starts from stop and of acceleration as well as distance driven, Toyota says that the Eco Drive Indicator can improve fuel efficiency by approximately 4%.

Toyota believes that sustainable mobility rests on three pillars: vehicles, the traffic environment and people. The Eco Drive Indicator represents one of TMC’s driver-awareness initiatives.

Not just better fc, i found the engine more responsive when accelerate.
I wanna try turn off the traction control. See if can improve more fc. Remember to turn back on if raining. 😁

I failed to feel any improvement in response if i off the eco. Same again, placebo effect. There is nothing going on apart from displaying the indicator.

I did the traction as well. No difference. Traction is control by braking system. Is either on or off. No other improvement besides that.
