QUOTE(l2k @ Apr 1 2019, 02:59 PM) Some small update regarding the Honda Sensing performance: l2k,I was driving on highway yesterday in a quite heavy rain. Both the ACC and LKAS were able to function properly. LKAS relies on camera, and it seems to be doing a slightly better job than my eyes, and only in 1 occasion where the blurry road stripes coupled with heavy rain, the LKAS would not be able to recognize (I able to steer out of the lane without warning). If it is not too blurry, the rain will not degrade the camera, or the LKAS. ACC on the other hand, is really a saviour especially in heavy rain condition as it can react typically faster than my reaction time. So for those who are still considering whether TC-P worth it, my take is although it is always perceived as a "quality of life" feature, but in certain condition, it could actually really become a "stress reliever" especially if you don't have a good eyesight. Many thanks for your post. You and the other member (forgot the name) that post quite a lot regarding the Honda Sensing. Keep update ya? I was quiet since my last post due to the rumours about facelift CX-5 this coming October. After asking around with a few Mazda salesmen, I can conclude that there will be no Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) in the upcoming update. Of course we can retrofit but it will void the warranty. Need to wait after the 5 years warranty ended to use the MRCC. It is weird, Thailand spec CX-5 that is assembled in Malaysia can have the MRCC but cannot for Malaysian. They can give to Mazda 3 too but it is CKD for now. My focus is back on the CR-V. So, my question is still about the CVT. Anyone tried overtaking from speed, let said, 20 km/h to 80 km/h or more? Do you think the acceleration is enough and safe? Normal CVT will produce sudden jump in RPM but the there is slight delay (around 2 seconds, maybe) in acceleration but poor and slow. If using the paddle shifter, can the issue be avoided? The reason for the delay is for the TCU to find suitable ratio for the CVT. Paddle shifter will make sure that the ratio is set first. I believe when using the paddle shifter to down-shift, there will be no delay in acceleration. Please give comment/feedback on this, thread members? I couldn't test this issue during my last test drive due to heavy traffic condition. This post has been edited by hayenadeblue: Jul 19 2019, 03:57 PM |

QUOTE(hayenadeblue @ Jul 19 2019, 03:54 PM) l2k, You need to test it yourself in order to decide.. Such things, you can't really rely solely on others feedback as you have your own feels and requirements.. I tested both and can't tahan.. Easy decision to go with the CX-5 2.2D.. Of course, I'm sad that no MRCC (can't speak for the next "refresh"), but for daily driving.. I just couldn't accept the power delivery in comparison. Especially if you're coming from and already used to a powerful NA engine. Your call really. Both cars serve distinct markets. So yes, go back to test drive it.. Ask for an extended drive. You are serious to purchase, so should not be an issue. Good luck.. Many thanks for your post. You and the other member (forgot the name) that post quite a lot regarding the Honda Sensing. I believe I noticed your posts there in the CX-5 thread. If I might ask, what is currently your ride? CX-5 or CR-V? You're right. I need to go back for test drives, both. Both FB groups (CR-V and CX-5) are flooded with car accessories posts. For me, the best source of information is here from Lowyat.net. About the MRCC, I hope if it will not be given on certain spec, at least they can offer add-in with additional charges. I don't mind. The only advantage of CR-V in this aspect is the OpenPilot which is supported but not for the CX-5. |

QUOTE(hayenadeblue @ Jul 20 2019, 05:36 PM) Thanks for the useful reply. I believe I noticed your posts there in the CX-5 thread. Daily driver is the CX-5 2.2D.. 1 year plus ownership..So I can say I'm fairly intimate with it.. I don't mind discussing concerns you have about it (AS IS..Open Pilot, these all do not interest me at this time.).. But can't be done in here as it's OT.. True, you can get better quality ownership "reviews" from Lowyat. Though I still find the official FB MCCM page fairly honest. Once you weed out the car sales agents & accessories sellers. IMO, MRCC, Open Pilot, etc.. all like powered boot aren't exactly critical items to me. I didn't pick the CRV just cuz it has the Honda Sensing over the CX-5 or that it had significantly more space (which IS needed)..But I forgo all that in favor of driving feels. I'm still young and love to drive in a fun manner. Sure, for certain long drives, It'd be nice to just let the car take over and do most of the leg work, while we monitor. If you can search back and or isolate my posts. You'd find my honest opinion concerning both when I was in the market. TBH, the Volvo XC60 T8 Hybrid does a better job of semi-autonomous driving..Has the space and driving feels too.. But If I might ask, what is currently your ride? CX-5 or CR-V? You're right. I need to go back for test drives, both. Both FB groups (CR-V and CX-5) are flooded with car accessories posts. For me, the best source of information is here from Lowyat.net. The only advantage of CR-V in this aspect is the OpenPilot which is supported but not for the CX-5. Yup... Ultimately, you gots to weigh your pros and cons and choose wisely.. You can have all the toys, bells & whistles.. But if you get behind that wheel and have little to no confidence in the car, you'd hate every single minute of driving it. I've "slalomed" this car, pushed it around corners... felt one tire lift up, etc.. It's a FWD and it still regained control and chugged on.. Test drive it.. Really listen to the car talk back, ignore the sales BS, etc.. You'll know for sure what you want and each day you hop in and push it.. With the CX-5 2.2D (even as stock config), I know that all being equal, it WILL pull instantaneously. Once warranty is over and car's not a lemon? One can take time to add in those bells & whistles. The only time you feel it's a heavy car is when you are trying to brake in certain conditions. Easily rectified by upgrading to custom brake system, etc.. |

As for coating? IMO, a cheap DIY will do.. I'm not a fan of those couple thousands coating. WHICH don't protect against stone chips and you'll still have to take care of.. bla bla.. A legit PPF would be recommended, but then...is a daily driven (non-showroom CRV) worth the expensive PPF? Your call la.. If i? better save my money.. 5 years time, if decide to still hold on to the vehicle and the paint doesn't look too good or you want more shine? Just respray the whole thing.. Probably much more cheaper too... in the meantime, just wash and wax it regularly.I got the tcp 1.5 high spec. 2 weeks come already. Do u guys do coating with Honda or outside?
