Small mammals allowed. Reptiles need to be mentioned here if you consider bringing them as they need to be approved.

Location : Ampang, near Ampwalk and Victoria Station. Accessible with putra lrt.

DATE : 12 May 2007

Time : Starts at 3pm

Theme : BBQ

Anyway, I prefer it to be late afternoon/evening as well.

I'll probably bring Snowball but I'm not too sure how many people are afraid of rats.

firstly, must think of a place.... if do at Pet Family, then got the hawker stall to sit and have a drink. I would say nice idea since there are no rules about pets there.

Ikano.... hard to find a place I guess and from the past gatherings, it was messy a bit unless wanna do again at A&W.

One Utama Park... later got mozzy come and suck our blood hahahah.

We can do it at Starbucks @ Ikano, but I'm not too sure if there's enough space for the pets to run about on the table.

Well, last time we said starbucks but always never a complete gathering coz some would wander away to Pet Safari, some would not enter starbucks and also the outdoor tables aren't enough.... unless we do it at The Curve... but then that place is not pet friendly.... so it's gonna be hard. And they do not allow pets to be on their tables or chairs.

I vote for Pets Family, but not too sure if they're pets-friendly there.

Pets family is pet friendly, don't worry about that. As long as you don't stick your pets into their pets-for-sale enclosures.

Pet Family is pet friendly hehehh.... the hawker stall there are ok lah.

Maybe we can book the VIP area in Ming Tien? Anyone want?

My Angel consider small animal or not?

errr friend... not everyone know which type of animal Angel is la.. pls be more specific.. lol.. Yeah Pet Family best in my opinion.. Can go Ming Tien there. Can have small pets showcase! But must be evening wor... afternoon too hot..

Lols. Angel is a Maltese, she's a really beautiful Maltese who has won quite a few prizes.

Small breed dog oso cant ar? I bring my "B Bit" (Rabbit) then. But my Angel is smaller than my B Bit lar.

Guess Bonta-kun's not welcomed then...:S He may eat up Snowball... Anyway, I'm sure Pet Family will more than welcome u all lah. Maybe can speak to the management? It's a got promotion for them what...

i am sorry la..but usually small animals doesnt included dog..big or small..
i remember how i run from dog in animal clinic waa..hiding in toilet
moreover, dogs have many gathering and shows specialize for them..
so for this gathering give chance to other small mammals la..

ya lor .. but there is other animal .. ferret,rabbit ,etc .. but no sugar glider ..

Well, we must see the place first..... a home would be good but who would open his or her home up for the gathering? One thing is must not have dogs or cats around....

Anyway, rabbits, it would be slightly hard to bring rabbits to cafes or the food court since cannot place them on the floor... and if coop up in carrier also gonna be hard for them....

So we will think of a place that is most suitable.... then will let you guys know lah.

I think animals that stress easy is not a good idea to be brought. Rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs are examples of animals that stress in new environments. Hedgehogs are exceptional as long as they have something familiar to rest in.

Nevermind la, bring yourself and enjoy being pet-free so that you can go and play with all the rest of the pets brought by other ppl.

in my opinion,if want to bring rabbit must held at field..bring fences..thats we did in lyn bunny gathering..i agree with crazymouse ,keep them in carrier all the time of gathering absolutely not accepted la..heheh..
as for hammies and gerbils..we already keep them in tank,and they spend most of their live in tank rite?..or cage.. so no need to worry about

if bring the hamsters, have to bring small plastic tank la like this ..

Yups..i think it is better and ppl also can easily observed ur little fren there..

ofcoz laa . how to bring them ? put inside the pocket ? sgs or rats ok larr .

But wouldn't the hamsters fight if they come in contact? The only way is to keep them in their own cages.

yaya, i think hamsters can only be kept in their own cage. If let them out, sure fight like hell, no good no good............

AHha... We won't let hamsters out to mingle.... sure fight. Hamsters should be brought in small plastic carriers or cage carriers.... well, the gathering is for us to share knowledge and share out pets, have a bit of fun lah.

we may discuss about setting up an unofficial club, who knows.... one day we can organize competitions heheheh.

Hmm... Never thought of putting rabbit in carrier if bring there leh, will be pity right! Everytime we put on our lap one. But anyway, if not suitable to bring a rabbit there, nvm, will be fun to go & observe other pets. So will the date & venue confirm soon ar?

Well, if you can be sure that your pet rabbit can be comfortable for a gathering that doesn't allow much activity, then I guess you can bring along. Just scared that rabbits get bored and start kicking if sit on lap too long lah...

A park is too hot. Can die from heat stroke coz it happened before..... also the day time is not good. Our gathering is during the evening.

Will get up a map soon to place here. Since evening, it will be cool and Ming Tien has a nice set up if we book a place. Summore just next to Pet Family so we can also hang out there if we wanna get some supplies hahahah.

You guys can bring how many small mammals you want but make sure they are in comfortable carriers. A small guppy tank or a solid shoebox works well.

If you guys taking the LRT, can use the PUTRA line, stop at Taman Bahagia and take a 5 minute walk to the place. I will be doing that.

Ok mar.... then people got enough time to reserve those dates for the gathering LOL.... Coz that time is my end of semester already so it'll be a good start for my holidays.... before that all assignments due so it would be hard for me to make it.

Hmm.. so until now not decided yet? I think I prefer to bring my gerbils.. dun think it's a good idea to disturb my hamster's sleep during the day.

5 minutes drive from KJ LRT station. It's at Taman Megah.

5 minutes walk from Taman Bahagi LRT hehhee...

Hope next time will have gather near my place also.... like wangsa maju/great easter mall....

Great Easter Mall have Pet shop, but dont know weather pet is allow INTO the building or not

Great Easter mall have plenty of space to sit down, from expensive to reasonable chicken rice shop.

Not yet find out, but crazy_mouse should have more ideal she stay around this area as well.

Hahaha... true, somewhere nearer to my place would be great.... but GEM don't allow pets in.... so far, the only shopping mall that allow pets is Ikano, you can bring any pet anywhere but large dogs... small dogs must be carrier or kept in a carrier.... If in MidValley, only the lift near PW and in PW only can bring pets in.... so it would be the same with 1U and GEM... no place to sit and chat later.
This is why everytime wanna have gathering, it's always the place that gives the problem.

if many places in city such as mall,supermarket etc ,how about make it in open place..like field??just as suggestion la...as we did two time for rabbit gathering before...we bring our own things..paper or plastic to sit down..food and drink to eat..like having a picnic also..

Firstly.... field? In the evening? Wanna get Dengi ah? Small animals cannot be out in the afternoon.... already 1 member's hamster died during an afternoon gathering with the rest of the small animals suffering from drooling coz of the heat, we would not want to risk it. Already said before earlier but nobody gets it? This is why we must do at a place with a roof and that it is cool.... and evening is the best time for hamster and gerbils and whatever small animals to come out. If we do it earlier, we disturb their natural routine and stress them too.

101% agreed. I dont know much about other rodent like hamster or gerbil, it definately will be a good ideal have gathering in evening. Actually, PERSONALLY ah, I felt is a BIG stress to bring small animal out for gathering, they are soooo afraid of the new enviroment, sound, noise, etc. They are not like dog and cat, WHICH ENJOY outing! The thicker the fur of that animal, the cooler the animal need... Like Chinchila, they release heat from their ear and feet, not from the body, no sweat also.

Oh? From the ears and feet? Hamsters release heat by breathing hard, drinking water and drooling.... when they drool, whole neck wet like it viomited... pity last time.... it's the same with gerbils too.

So the best is an evening gathering heheheh

Yup, small animals can die from heat stroke. A pair of my hamsters died of heat stroke while in the car

If chin drooling, that's a BIG PROBLEM, either need to trim the teeth, or going to 'leave' soon due to malocclusion(a type of teeth disease).

I guess vegetarian reptiles are allowed hahaha.... anything that eats rodents aren't allowed, scared kena telan.
