QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 5 2018, 09:22 AM) My last sentence in that post applies. Not really a waste to get M1, if I want convenience of MiFi, for sure it's the one. I can bring anywhere. QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Mar 5 2018, 09:23 AM) Wank factor if you ask me. It carries one of the best performance specs on paper. I would buy it if I have extra monies to spare. I'd spend more money on cell boosters and/or LPDA antennas But that's just me. |

QUOTE(comfyguy10 @ Mar 5 2018, 11:13 PM) is there any general guideline when placing the router. for me is a bit limited as i will connect the huawei to my NAS as well. Yes. Download network signal info app on phone, turn on GPS, see where the tower is. There are many towers, so find out which tower is the strongest and point your CPE antenna towards that direction. QUOTE(comfyguy10 @ Mar 6 2018, 12:31 AM) Another question, should I connect external WiFi router on top of this Huawei router as I feel the WiFi strength is not strong enough? Yes. Huawei CPE Wifi signal is weak |

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Mar 8 2018, 08:01 AM) Probably can get more usable/reasonable download speed if there is less noise.I am guessing a better signal yields something like 20:D 60:U Definitely better than what he has now. But. I think for cyberjaya this may not be the case especially MMU area. All students will do is download till their HDDs are full if they have the bandwidth This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Mar 8 2018, 12:14 PM |

Just drove around Penang and went to the base station where my antenna is pointed to assess whether buying Lintratek B7 boosters would be useful. This is saturday night 8pm. It is probably peak internet hour. Along the way, ran speed test on a few base stations. They are congested AF.
When close by to the base station, I found out that adding antenna/boosters is useless. Speed is just slightly better than at home. SINR is in 16dB range. Couldn't get any closer as the area was too crowded. Also scanned around for another base station that is less congested. It is pointed to an area near where the apartments have TIME. Even with SINR of 24dB, B7 only yields 10Mbps. B3 yielded close to 40Mbps. Looks like some base stations cannot reach 100Mbps speeds. |

Tonight's speed seem to be slightly better.
Saw Digi doing some work on the tower. Or is it because it is not the weekend, hence less users? |

Looks limited areas.
Pretty smart of celcom to limit registration to towers with adequate capacity. Unlike digi which is free for all. At least this can somewhat control the tower load. Of course you cant control where the sim card goes after that. 150GB should be plentiful for my usage. Can combo with tunetalk 20gb@rm17 for backup. Cutting this stupid digi line that is useful only during burung hantu hours This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Mar 15 2018, 06:00 PM |

QUOTE(antu89 @ Mar 16 2018, 02:10 AM) hi, im from penang, Use huawei tools and lock b3. Check speed. Lock b7 check speed.currently using B315 modem and speed = 5Mbps peak hour planning to get B618, so i request a help if anyone from penang using B618, or any modem that can CA, i willing to pay some money to you to so u can put ur modem at my area to do test speed. test/check coverage only. thnk u Sum of b3 and b7 is the theoretical max speed that you can achieve. Then you can decide whether to buy b618. With 5Mbps peak hour speed, it does not seem to be worth it. |

QUOTE(nchuan @ Mar 16 2018, 12:23 PM) Hi guys, i am currently using AC790s, kelana jaya area around 50-60mbps. Sis fruitie show not much improvement getting M1 over E5186.Tested with my Mate 10, it will get 111mbps. but in order to get similar speed i should go for B618? or E5186 or B525 would also get the same speed? thanks! If you got money, sure get b618. If you want cheapest, stick with ac790 and get smart cradle, or buy e5186. |

QUOTE(antu89 @ Mar 16 2018, 04:39 PM) In term of performance. B618 is better rite since it have 4x4mimo Yes you are right about the 4x4 MIMO, but I am not sure whether B3+B7 is able to utilize the 4x4. Do you have the external MIMO antenna to try out?My current b315 + mimo only receive 2 bar signal. So thats why wanna test b618 performance at my area. To see whether its worth to get b618, just wait for sis Fruitie's review since she already got the device. QUOTE(pmg @ Mar 16 2018, 04:39 PM) No. Well, not yet. Digi Infinite attracts data hoggers.Once Celcom uses PR accounts to seed posts on the internet about how stable their plan is during 7pm - 1 AMĀ (regardless whether its true or not), then maybe DiGi will sweat. Not sweat by much probably, since 150 GB is way way way less than "unlimited" 1 TB Celcom wireless attracts video streamers (chinese/grey area/illegal android box notwithstanding). Popularity wise, definitely Digi infinite. Usability wise, Celcom should be more stable. I guess i spoke too soon about Digi shitting their pants. But long term for Digi, they would need to do something like Celcom for their network/reputation to survive. This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Mar 16 2018, 04:50 PM |

QUOTE(Anime in HD @ Mar 16 2018, 04:51 PM) I think 150GB still less for people use that to download & update Steam games. If celcom make 200GB maybe many consider. If your Digi speed still stable atleast 5mbps. Better stick bcoz Digi total gst price RM160/month vs celcom home wireless platinum RM170/month. Just about RM10 different. Should suggest Celcom mgmt to release 'Gaming Walla' That say celcom got limit coverage & maxis one prime need maxis fibre. RM188/month for 1 user Maxis Prime. Data 300GB. Many limititation just to get the service... haih... Digi is okay during Burung Hantu hours. If I am still in college, okay lah. But I am not. |

Getting few hundred ms pings with 0.5Mbps download speed yesterday night. Seems to be happening every weekend nowadays. Totally unusable.
Had to tahan with my free Unifi Mobile. Seriously considering moving back to Streamyx 4Mbps if this continues. To those who successfully complained to Digi and action was taken, does providing the Cell tower ID helps? |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 20 2018, 05:35 PM) Wah, RM 499 for a B618 is a good deal. alexchew_2020 care to clarify? EDIT:Got it few days earlier than the Celcom plan. HORY SHIET If I terminate the service before the contract ends, do I need to return the modem(s)? No, you can keep the modem after you pay the penalty.
