QUOTE(mhyug @ May 8 2019, 11:58 PM)
out of curiosity, last few pages the discussion have been centered around the production side of the mentioned projects(top side/jacket/platform etc) , anyone know whats going on the drilling side of the projects?

how many wells? what type? New or brown field? which rig? whose doing tubular, cementing etc. looks like a major campaign but so far is there any clients doing major drilling these days.
*
Which rig?

As for shallow water, should be pretty straightforward. Priority to Velesto and Perisai or maybe Sapura Drilling. For deepwater different case and will open to other international drilling contractors.

There is no harm to have a policy hiring Malaysian 1st.

.
The implementation quota or hiring Malaysian first will not give any negative impact compare to what Malaysia can offer.
*
Surprisingly I came to know that one division of malaysian company running by expat and prefer expat rather than local. They know how to play around with local composition when they dealing (contracting) with petronas😩.

I wonder how much the drillers earn nowadays.

There’s one local driller who earned a sick RM120k pm for a 2-year contract, during the glory days of oil&gas.
*
Not much right now, even worst for local drillers working with local drilling company. All companies trying to squeeze everything they can. Some companies didn’t pay during Off days, standby days at home.

For its Drilling segment, Sapura Drilling Asia Limited has secured a contract with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited for the provision of its tender-assist drilling rig, Sapura T-17, for the Bongkot gas field in the Gulf of Thailand.

Meanwhile, Sapura Drilling Asia Sdn Bhd has been awarded a contract extension by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd for the provision of its semi-submersible tender-assist drilling rig, Sapura Berani. The contract entails the drilling of five additional wells in Erb West, offshore Sabah and the Dulang facilities, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

In addition, Sapura Drilling Sdn Bhd was awarded a one-year contract extension by BSP for the provision of its semi-submersible tender-assist drilling rig, Sapura Pelaut.
