If this order is continue, most likely the rig operations will be suspended. no foreign even with work permit, long stay pass, etc allowed to enter Malaysia and was informed by our crew coordinator that Sarawakian also not allowed to travel to KLIA.
Any possibility Operating company will be using force majeure to terminate the contracts?
Oil price also doesn't seem to increase any time soon.

“The unemployment rate in March 2020 increased to 3.9 per cent, highest since June 2010 (3.6 per cent). The high unemployment rate in March 2020 reflects the negative impact of MCO on the labour market. https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...er-just/1864240

QUOTE(Salary @ May 11 2020, 06:57 PM) It's a bleak outlook for the industry, moving forward. Looking at the CAPEX and OPEX reduction for next year, the upcoming 18 months is going to be tough. With most organisations already operation on the lean side, hopefully we won't see another round of massive job cuts similar to the 2015 crisis. Keep your heads up, everyone. I guess this will be worse than last downturn. This time is combination oil price and covid19 which everyone know. Look in LinkedIn many people lost their employments and looking for new job. Even people in Silicon Valley effected by this situation. Pray for the best for all of us.

Petronas' capex cut another shock to local O&G companies “The lower capex would translate into greater job deferments and fewer contracting opportunities, impacting fabricators (Sapura Energy Bhd as well as Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd), hook-up and commissioning works (Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd and Carimin Petroleum Bhd), drilling activities (Velesto Energy Bhd) as well as FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) activities (MISC Bhd and Yinson). “Meanwhile, the lower opex could also exert margin and pricing pressures on local-centric contractors and services providers (Dayang and Uzma Bhd). Overall lower offshore activities could also translate into slower OSV (offshore support vessel) demand, impacting players such as Perdana Petroleum Bhd, Icon Offshore Bhd and Alam Maritim Resources Bhd.” https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/petr...BAzq7s.facebook

QUOTE(yunodie @ Jun 25 2020, 10:17 AM) From what i have seen so far, on bigger installations by major operators, Medic is supplied by SOS (company name). They will usually employ experienced Medic from our Government Hospitals. So these guys are really good and have seen it all. (Road Accidents, Emergencies and stuff) Whereas for Marine Vessels and Barges, i dont think the requirement is that high. I have seen post-med student as medic offshore on a work barge. so i dont think he is over-qualified. We use Rig Medic from International SOS. Many other drilling contractors do the same. Can check website to see the qualifications.
