Hi all,
How do you go about determining the "market rate" for your current/future roles?

Do you:
1. Ask your network, seniors?

2. Ask recruiters via LinkedIn?

3. Look at job ads with salary information (damn hard to find these in Malaysia)?

4. Check websites e.g.Glassdoor ?
Or reports from recruitment companies e.g. below (from what I've seen, these reports tend to be very broad across industries. But would be great to know if there are more industry specific reports).

Which one has provided the best results?
Specifically I'm talking about the upstream O&G industry in Malaysia. Would really appreciate any inputs on this.  notworthy.gif

There is no such market rate for MNC.. you take it or leave it.. but most of the MNC offer good range of salary. You can query your contact in the MNC to obtain details of salary range for each level.

For Expatriation, you can check the index through https://www.air-inc.com/ (Petronas is using this). But you need to pay for the data/calculator. There is other web offer the same service. smile.gif

Thank you, yes I understand it's often a "take it or leave it" kind of situation for specific companies.
Hopefully one day I'll be able to use that expatriation website link you shared smile.gif

Recently MISC announced that the company had appointed a new CEO.

I guess the fallout from under performing overbudget MERO 3 project has materialised.

The witch hunt has begun!

Anyone here joined Baker Hughes early career program before? May I know what's it like? How much did they pay? also are they still working remote right now or hybrid? or fully in office already?

- Carigali PTTEPI Operating Company (CPOC) has launched a tender for multiple offshore wellhead platforms intended for the phase 6 development of offshore Block B-17 in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA).
- The 50:50 joint venture between state-owned upstream counterparts - Malaysiaโ€™s Petronas Carigali and Thailandโ€™s PTTEP - has invited a number of Asian offshore contractors including Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering (MMHE), Thai Nippon Steel (TNS), Sapura Energy of Malaysia, Chinaโ€™s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) and possibly Cuel of Thailand, Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction, BJC Heavy Industries, Brooke Dockyard and Engineering, and Muhibbah Engineering to contest for the engineering, procurement and construction contracts.
- However, COOEC has declined to participate in the bidding process due to the tight schedule of delivering already awarded contracts for projects offshore China.
- The MTJDA contract workscope involves the provision of five wellhead platforms to be installed in water depths ranging between 55 and 65 metres.
- Each platform will feature a jacket weighing 600 tonnes and topsides modules of 800 tonnes.
- The workscope also includes the installation of five subsea pipelines of 12-inch to 16-inch diameter extending 34 kilometres to connect the existing production facilities and the new platforms.
- Industry observers said that like previous tenders of the facilities for phases 1-5 of the Block B-17 development, Southeast Asian yards - particularly those in Thailand and Malaysia - will have the upper hand over yards elsewhere.
- There is a possibility that the award winner could subcontract part of the workscope, as has happened in some earlier phases.
- SMOE, MMHE and Oilfab provided facilities for Phase 1, while TNS was contracted to provide EPC services for phases 2 and 5. Cuel of Thailand built the B-17 phase 4 facilities while Malaysia's Sapura is the contractor for Phase 3 with this workscope covering four wellhead platforms and associated subsea pipelines.
