Hi all,
How do you go about determining the "market rate" for your current/future roles?
Do you:
1. Ask your network, seniors?
2. Ask recruiters via LinkedIn?
3. Look at job ads with salary information (damn hard to find these in Malaysia)?
4. Check websites e.g.Glassdoor ?
Or reports from recruitment companies e.g. below (from what I've seen, these reports tend to be very broad across industries. But would be great to know if there are more industry specific reports).

Which one has provided the best results?
Specifically I'm talking about the upstream O&G industry in Malaysia. Would really appreciate any inputs on this.
There is no such market rate for MNC.. you take it or leave it.. but most of the MNC offer good range of salary. You can query your contact in the MNC to obtain details of salary range for each level. How do you go about determining the "market rate" for your current/future roles?

For Expatriation, you can check the index through https://www.air-inc.com/ (Petronas is using this). But you need to pay for the data/calculator. There is other web offer the same service.
