I think it is true that they are selling off their Msian assets and ditch the country. It is a matter of time for them to find a buyer that is willing to fork out RM15bilion to buy their assets.

At the mean time business goes on as usual.

I dont understand why you didnt get the message. Exxon is leaving Malaysia for good, pending sale of its asset. Why would they want to maintain 2 small business units in Malaysia when they are no longer in Malaysia and moreover they can transfer both units to some other countries that Exxon is operating.

Repsol let go 80+ staff last two weeks. Thought the worst period in local oil&gas was behind us by now.

They offered VSS to mostly the veterans in a move to maintain “younger” pool of staff.

But VSS package was good, especially to those who have worked in the company for many years.

So that they will get cheaper Senior PE on contract basis than the ones they let go!

Over 200 ppl applied for the post. Obviously they don’t know the low morale atmosphere that is prevalent in that company now.

Dudeeeee I am dying to have at least one floater experience project in my belt at least, aint easy to get way in to those Co. like Yinson, MISC, Bumi Armada, Modec, BW Offshore, Hoegh etc.

MISC is hiring now; plenty of expats recently employed. It’s just like in PCSB in the early 90s when there were very few experienced local engineers in oil&gas that PCSB had to hire expats. MISC is determined to break into Brazil FPSO market. They’re targeting at least one Brazil FPSO project next year.

There’s one local driller who earned a sick RM120k pm for a 2-year contract, during the glory days of oil&gas.
