Inform the bank and give them your number. Then inform IRD - you might be able to claim back some of the extra interest paid.
Kia Ora and welcome.

So you're in one of the rooms in the main building? Ya freaking small alright. Some of the rooms in the villa/house building next to the main one are bigger. Did they put all the Malaysians/IMU students on the same floor again?

yea, i have no trouble with small room. its all quite smooth and good here, most of the stuff are free. even the people are quite friendly (not all, i am really disappointed with those chinese from china, freakin stick to their own groups only). just finished a soccer game with some foreigners, pretty tired now.... wornbook, are you still in Auckland?

can we bring the seasoning from malaysia???

like perencah nasik goreng adabi???
*
Yes you can. BUT they must be properly commercially packed with the list of ingredients clearly printed on them. And no meats, fresh fruits/vege, or anything with seeds. And no dairy products (the exception being Milo MADE IN MALAYSIA).

Contrary to popular belief, there's actually quite a lot of food that can be brought into NZ. Among things I've brought in - roti canai, tau sa pau, mooncakes and even frozen (ocean) fish. I kid you not.

Just stick to things not on the banned list AND ALWAYS DECLARE THEM. What I do is to pack all food into a separate bag and show it to customs. So much simpler than digging into 2-3 bags for bits and pieces. The easier you make their life, the nicer they'll be.

QUOTE(haya @ Jan 25 2008, 04:04 PM)
50/50 chance. Sometimes customs lets it through, sometimes they'll ask you to chuck it.

You can buy them at Medowlands these days if you're in Auckland.
*
There's a Taiping Supermarket for Asian food products in the CBD. You can also get lost of seasoning packets from places like New World and Countdown these days. There's really no need to go all the way out east, unless you live nearby.

Yes, I'm in Auckland.

By foreigners, I take you mean non-Kiwis? Most locals are still on summer break aren't they?

The sticking to own groups phenomenon is very common. I hate to say it, but Malaysians are just as bad. Our only saving grace is that we speak better English than other Asians in general and so hang out with other people better. But only just a bit better.

It doesn't strictly have to be in one bag, but it sure makes life a heck of a lot easier than anyone. As long as you declare EVERYTHING food-related, you'll be safe. The worse they'll do is chuck it (which they won't if it's on the approved list). But if you don't declare, even if it's an allowed product, they might fine you $200 on the spot. For serious offences it's $10,000.

Both. And I expect someone who has 3 months break, and knowing the fact he's going to NZ, to brush up his English. If I can find a Taiwanese who will pay me to teach English, what can you say?

Seriously fantagero, 3 months of holiday using the internet, and you still don't know how to use the internet for research. Here's some free advise: stop frequenting forums. Learn something. Like typing "New Zealand broadband" into google. If you bothered to use Wikipedia, you will know that there are only 2 teleco's in NZ. And if you have so much free time, why can't you be bothered to read through this thread?

Forget Screamyx. Forget Maxis Broadband. Learn Number Portability. Vodafone is not just something you see when Man U plays.

No wonder we Asians don't have a good name.

Well, can you make it unsuck on the internet also?

Anyway, to answer your question, all Telecom broadband speeds are "unleashed", meaning it all depends on how far you live from the exchange. If your line sync is 5Mbits, theoretically the fastest you can download within your cap is 500kB/s (note units).

I've never got more than 140kB/s through. biggrin.gif

Yes, but must we drop down to their level? Goddammit, we all are going to their country, as a guest.

The thing is, when I go to China, the locals expect me to know Mandarin, to live, to work and get around there. If I go to Japan, even being in Tokyo, English doesn't get you very far. And there are few translation services around. Fair enough. It is their country after all.

While in NZ they treat non-local language speakers relatively well compared to the 2 countries I've mentioned. Can't read your bill? Call for a translation. Cant understand council letter? Call for a translation. And yet, I see these Mainland Chinese come to NZ, send their kids to learn Mandarin. If you treasure your damned Chinese culture/language so much, why come to NZ when you can't adapt to us? We are forced to adapt to your language and culture when we go there!

God, I sound like a redneck typing this out.

stay cool, haya. sometimes, they just want their kids don't lose the root becoz they know thier kid will learn english at school and msotly, english will be thier first languauge. However, mandarin is another important skill to make them more competitive in future, I mostly will send my kid to learn mandarin as well (tuition).

I check the seek.co.nz and the house is darn expensive in auckland. I am thinking to go to welly since the paid is higher there and house is cheaper, but i heard it is too windy and thus wind chill ur a$$ up to neck. Is welly that bad if compare to auckland?

Regarding the kiwi accent, I believe when u r there, u will learn it eventually if you remember the story the captain asked, "You come today?" and the soilder replied "I came to die". tongue.gif ....or I want to bank in my "cheek" biggrin.gif "Can I have tomato source pls?" Mcdonald (USA - Kansas) replied, "sorry, we don't sell tomato source here" <She want ketchup instead>
