Scotland is gorgeous! A Must make trip there =)
I took a bus down to scotland from london 9 hours..only 1 pound. Flight back from Scotland to London was only 17 Pounds but bus and train to the airport was troublesome especially at the hours when I took the flight. Somethng that you must think about when taking low cost carriers.

Bouncy? Nah..National Express. Big nice bus unless you're sitting beside a stinky guy or a noisy guy or a guy that throws out during bus rides. It was alright during my trip =) 9 hours, is your bedtime. Sleep in the bus (not comfy though u might get a neck ache), reach there early morning...walk around (nothing much to walk around) as its pretty small but...take a seperate tour to the highlands and the lake...and thats where you get fresh air and gorgeous scenery =)

Lol I travelled with a friend from Malaysia also who was studying in Germany.
I was staying and studying in London, just last year.
He paid the adult fare, I paid child fare for our tour to Bath, Stonehenge and Windsor castle. That was worth it also. Taking tours, they explain the history and its interesting to listen. If go yourself you won't know the bits and pieces.

I wasn't allowed to travel on my own. If I was I'd backpack Europe myself coz I had noone to backpack with. Unfortunately, wasted my opportunity. Will probably go next time. =)

I have babyface. Europeans and Brits are big in size even when they're 14. They cannot tell that you're an adult. I needed ID when I followed my friend into the arcade at Trocadero and I needed ID when I was in Scotland just walking into the bar to get a friend out. Child is below 16 =). I think in China / Korea also I got the child rates for buffet and cable car ride. =x

I should have but my mum didn't allow me to go alone because it was dangerous for a girl and I couldn't find anyone else to go with me. 1. you need someone with budget. 2. you need someone who has the same time.
Actually student or not backpacking in Europe is very cheap. As long as you're willing to bunk in with people or you've got friends to just attach to for a night or two, you're saving A LOT!

Bath and stonehenge is pretty worth paying for, not sure about windsor castle though because it's not as inspiring. They're some local trips around London departing to these places, about £60 per person for 1 day. 

I went there few weeks back.

Did you managed to catch a glimpse of O2 dome?

Greenwich is really an excellent area to stop by, it feels very different from the conventional London centre you see (e.g. Oxford Circus etc).

canterbury also not bad... brighton night life good... greenwich? not bad, at least your at 0'00"00" altitude?

i remember 2 years ago i spend 1 month travelling in london, birmingham and manchester alone also lol... 

and no need buy £2 map, you can grab those free maps at victoria or waterloo for free hahaha

and the courage + thick face to ask around.

i got my WHM approved since may...d visa begins aug 1st...BUT i m stil in msia!!!!
i have prob getting accomodations....
i only hav few frens in uk.. 3 to b exact
all promised to help...but bail out at d last minute....
i got my WHM approved easily....less than an hour when submitting....2 days to approved...no interviews...collect less than 20min...
and i tot getting d visa was d hard part!!!!

fiolsn, dont you have any other siblings that is currently working or any relatives? they can help you financially, just to tell the british embassy that you got sponsor.

Did anyone of you here goes through any sort of difficulty going into UK, i have heard quite a number of stories where people being deported back to Malaysia for what ever reason. 

crystalkit, yes i heard all these stories 2 years back. there's 1 old malaysian couple who wants to spend their holiday in uk using the visitor visa but was send back.

basically, the immigration officer sees if you 'yong shui' then they will question you up and down.

i dont have any problem 2 years back enter uk using visitor visa, i only just asked what i am doing here, how long i will stay, do i have a job in malaysia, who am i visiting and where.

Em....u r saying writing letter for one month vacation but actual fact u r staying there for 2 years? Or, seriously u r just going to stay for one month?

Question 1) Why not? The prepaid card there allows you to keep the credit for as long as you could, unlike here in malaysia where they will actually give you a life span of 2 months to reload your prepaid card. Unless u are convince that you would make a lot of calls, then maybe going for a Postpaid line would be a better option.

Question 3) I am sure u could bare it if you had jackets and a long john

Question 4) i would reckon you to bring a travelers cheque instead of fully cash

Question 5) If you want a job that doesn't impose any taxes u might wanna try to work for restaurants that is in chinatown as a waiter. I heard they don't actually pay taxes there, though i cant confirm it to be 100% true.
