Klopp's stubbornness will be his own downfall. We can see it from the way he approaches games in terms of tactics and the way he operates in the transfer market. He is a Plan A guy through and through. Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk are his Plan A, pretty good Plan A to be fair but when it fails he refuses to move on to Plan B leaving us with a severe lack of depth.

Mourinho targeted Dier and Morata as first choice target but as obtaining them becomes unrealistic he moves on to his next targets in Lukaku and Matic which aren't bad at all. Similar case with Guardiola who thought he had the Dani Alves deal all wrapped up but as soon as the deal was off he immediately moved on to signing Danilo.

Let's not forget, our problems last season stem far deeper than just Mane going off to AFCON. We were struggling even before he went and after he came back. We couldn't cope with the loss of Coutinho midseason and we couldn't cope with the loss of Lallana's injury on international duties TWICE. Yet we have added basically no depth to our midfield. Now it's going to get even worse if somehow Coutinho gets his way and jets off to Barcelona. Some may argue that defence is our greatest weakness but I think that our midfield is just as bad. The problem with our defence is a systemic one rather than just individuals. Signing Van Dijk won't magically fix our problems. Anyone noticed how easily Watford players run past our midfield like it's non-existent? Hendo is just not capable defensively and Gini is just an invisible passenger. Let's not even mention the lack of creative spark from our midfield. We were bailed out today by Mane and Salah's brilliance.
