RM400 for the following ok? (New from shop)

- 9000x console, white or black
- 2 x cap ayam controller
- 10 games
- AV cable & power cable

Anything I should look out for? Anyone has experience on what modchip? Is there one thats better than another?

was quoted RM460 with the following:
1 x PS2 console w/ all the cables
1 x original controller
1 x non-original controller
1 x memory card 8mb
15 x dvd games

Get the latest model 90006/90007.(i striked 4D with this number recently)
Usually more expensive set comes with better modchip (assume only la cos can't have a peek inside) and 1 year warranty.
Less expensive sets only have 3-month or even 1-day warranty.
Original package only comes with console, power cable, AV composite cable, quick guide booklet and 1 ori controller. Seller usually will bundle in 8Mb Sony magicgate memory card together which is not cheap and also provide another controller based on package. There is only one type of sony PS magicgate card that is 8MB. If it comes with other capacities then it is not genuine.
We have to trust the sellers' words for not giving us recond sets or fake modchips. So pay

Fake controller's characteristics:
Shorter cables.
Red LED light leakage around the 2 joysticks ball base when flicking the sticks downwards. There's light leakage around the improperly aligned housing gaps.
Overall built quality is poorer: housing gaps, words stampings are not aligned like Dualshock 2( slanted a bit, can be seen with naked eyes though by just few MMs only), triangle bigger than the edge of button ane etc.
Fake's buttons can't be fully pressed down.
Ori controller's directional pads, L and R buttons are in dark grey colour(for all ps2 colour scheme). If in black it is fake.
Now fakes also come with pressure sensitive buttons.
Fake's connectors copper pins are dull in colour.

9000x series PS2 runs cooler although it has built-in AC-DC adapter.

This was a quote I got from the shop at ground floor of Summit USJ. Please note: THIS IS A SCAM.

How the scam works:
1. Quote RM400. I asked if got stock, he confirm got stock in black and white.
2. When I said ok, I'd like to buy one, he then tells me its half mod - no internal fan, cannot play all games. Advises me to get the full-mod version, which is another RM100. Shows me a white 90006 "full-mod" model, and when turned on, you can feel the fan. Please note that all 90006 models have an internal fan - so this is NOT a mod!
3. I insist I want the half-mod. He continues his sales pitch of half mod vs full mod.
4. Finally when he sees that I'm not buying his story, he tell me its out of stock. WTF.

So buying advice:
1. Get the 90006 model. I think all bugs have been worked out, and its the most reliable. All red ps2 slim are 90006 models i think.
2. Difference between real and fake controllers are as posted above. Ask for both from the shop, and you can tell the difference when holding it.
3. White, Silver, and Red are NOT limited editions. They are new colours. Most places try to charge a premium for white, silver or black. Shop around and you'll find one that doesn't.
4. Memory cards - I can't tell difference between ori and fake. They look the same. And a lot of shops will try to pass off a fake one as an ori. So beware. Just assume they are fakes, and should be priced around RM25-30.

Hello all...
i got problem with my ps2 slim...
i got my ps2 slim around 4-5 years ad...
once replace the cip...because cant play any games at all...
and now it return again same problems...
but older game still can be played...it problem with new games...
start with NFS:Prostreet..it can be load...
but highly lag...same with other game and sometimes i cant read at all...
is there the firmware problem...at the cip need to be replace?

If slow read,then lens problem i think.

If NEW game like GOW 2,ur modchip couldnt support DVD9,but there is a solution where u can download certain software to make it read DVD9,but i frgt whatname is it.

The problem is...god of war 2 working fine....
only certain game such as NFS:Prostreet, .hack 3, dragon budokai..
and some new game...i dont think the modchip prob...
is it the firmware problem...

I recently bout a Dell Monitor that has composite input, so I tried hooking my ps2 on it and it works, only for video though, there isnt audio output..

So now I'm looking for those female RCA to 3.5mm cable..

Well, hello ladies & gentleman. It seems that some kind of weird problem happen to me and i have no idea what to do. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

I just bought a brand new slim model 90006 today but it can't play any ps1 games (Red disc read error screen) . Surprisingly, when i tested it on my cousin's (model 70000 something iirc), the game run just fine. I wonder what's wrong with it.

Oh and here's the list of PS1 games that won't work on my PS2 but my cousin's instead.

Different mod chip, different method to play ps1. Try pressing the restart button twice. Or ask for assistant from your local gameshop.

Been there, done that.

Edit: When i pressed it once (PS1 CD inside), it goes to the browser screen. When i pressed it twice, Viola, red screen. I opened up the disc tray without resetting, closed it and just wait for the machine to scan the game automatically, yup, red screen again. So i guess i'm doing it right.

Bro,

I have 90006 model too. And to play ps1 games, heres what i do:
- Switch ps2 on.
- Dont insert CD.
- Wait till the browser finish loading.
- insert PS1 cd.
- Press the power/restart button TWICE in quick succession.
- PS1 game loads.

It plays just fine.

p/s: Though, mind you I tested using my MGS cd1 (original NTSC/UC). Dont have any of the games you mentioned above.

It just won't work....

And all of them are NTSC/UC

All i see is "Please insert a playstation or playstation2 format disc"

Edit:Modded console is not supposed to be region locked right? All my PS2 games run just fine though.

Added on April 7, 2009, 8:48 pmI need to clarify this. Do we actually need original PS1 disc? I know Modded PS2 certainly can play ps2 pirate games but i'm not sure if we can used pirate PS1 disc.

guys,my ps2 started to scratch my dvd game in round-like manner.every dvd i played will become like that!(even my newly bought ori dvd game:()u guys know what's the problem?how to solve this?

yes it can,just hold the power button to turn it off,then hold the power button again until the blue screen appear.
