Why does it have to happen during the semester break.Yah, it's happening with wasabi ^^;; Would love to see how you'll be handling him in classes. I still remembered the torture I had to go through when Shurie woke up in the middle of the day during Print Media class. |

Hi Everyone
Kangaroo Meat as a glider food............ interesting as kangaroo meat is very nice & very lean ie not much fat. Hun / anyone if you get a chance can you tell me who & where this "holistic glider food " is made. the percentage of protein seems very low as the mix ( liquid part ) that Australian zoos use has a protein percentage of 52%. I might try & contact some people in Australia & see what the latest mix is over there. This post has been edited by Taipan1: Jul 22 2007, 11:27 AM |

QUOTE(Taipan1 @ Jul 22 2007, 10:39 AM) Hi Everyone Yah... this is the first time I have heard kangaroo meat in glider food... normally seen in dogfood. The smell is weird.... doesn't smell interesting. I'll try and get a container and see if gliders do eat.... if they don't well, hamsters will eat it too hahahah...Kangaroo Meat as a glider food............ interesting as kangaroo meat is very nice & very lean ie not much fat. Suggies don't eat kangaroo even in the wild, they're not carnivore la...
Yeah, the food that Hun mentioned does contain kangaroo meat, so it says on the label lah. It's a hard pallet type with funky almost rotten apple smell cuz they claim to mix with apple. Dunno where in the world PS got that food from... Why don't they just get something like Zookeepers? I've tried to get them in bulk and the price is affordable to everyone if I do, but the minimum bulk is way out of my league so I can't do it for the time being... But places like PS shouldn't be a problem, infact imagine if they can bring in Zookeepers, wouldn't they be more famous?? Sighhh... KP |

Actually SG's are carnivours in their natural state. They do feed on reptiles, birds etc so in theory can be classified as such. I dont think they could eat a roo as the SG's would have to come down to the ground & they & tree Kangaroos are a bit too big for SG's to take on.
Hun - roo meat is not just for dog's it is in fact a very nice meat to eat ( along with Emu & croc.). One can buy it at butcher shops as mentioned it is very lean but a very dark meat & yes I have tried it. |

Suggies are omnivores thus they do eat meat as their protein supplement. In the wild, yes, they do eat what ever they want as their protein supplement which includes small reptiles and such, but it doesn't take a 12 year old to figure out that they don't hunt and eat kangaroos.
In captivity, suggies are rarely fed with small reptiles and such because we keep them as pets not wild animals. I don't think there is any need to stress that kangaroo meat (or emu or croc for the matter) can be eaten and that it is nice and such, we are after all humans and humans are known to eat almost anything. My last post was not meant to be sarcastic - it was meant to add a bit of humor. I am sure that 12 yr olds are well aware that an SG cannot take on a full grown Kangaroo it would be an animal version of David & Goliath with Goliath being the obvious winner. Yes you are correct Humans do EAT anything. |

QUOTE(ezzydizzy @ Jul 23 2007, 05:39 PM) 1.Still thinking of hedgehog or SG?(prefer SG cause more passionate)Think, think, and think properly. Both these pets have totally different personalities. Hedgehogs are solitary, Suggies are colony base. Bonding wise, both these pets can bond with their owners. But I can say suggies needs more attention and their diet is a bit more complex. 2.Sg also have to feed live worms?(dun like those yucky stuff) Yes they do. 3.Must Have big caged?Setup Expensive?(i stay in studio condo) Yes, it's a must. Infact the actual minimum enclosure should be 9ft x 9ft x 9ft. However if you let them out and roam free from time to time, a minimum of 3ft (height) x 2ft x 2ft is forgivable, still bigger than this is absolutely encouraged. 4.Anyone selling?Or recommend where to buy and prices Look in GS. 5.Can keep in air-cond room??23-25C Can, but must keep them in warm pouches and give them a blankie just incase. Ehh, CFP, don't tell me I didn't tell you guys before ahh.
Remember all the fuss about what was said on Glideruniversity? It was the cage requirement lah and I did mention it. 9ft is the best ample distance for suggies to glide, that's why 9ft is needed. Or else frequent out of cage for exercise and gliding is a must. But it still does not tolerate for cages smaller than 3ft. KP |
