Oh, better not use it since it doesn't state what it contains.... it could cause more damage than good.

You must get pure calcium powder for reptiles... not some concoction of vitamins and minerals. Get Repti Cal.

Just to update, the small animal gathering was great! Had about 7 gliders I think.... or 6 gliders.... but we had loads of other pets as well as lovely food. Heheh.... next time you guys must come lah.
QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ May 12 2007, 03:21 PM) just now, i took out both aiko and chika . suddenly, chika bite aiko tail . err . what just happend ? Har? that is weird.... maybe bullying.now i put back both of them .. after this took them out separately .. QUOTE(Vio @ May 12 2007, 07:43 PM) hey guys need some advice over here .is this suitable for my gliders No.... the one with mixed vege is not suitable. Get the Wheat and honey.... it must not contain milk. Wheat and Honey is sweet and has no added milk. Some gliders can fall sick from taking milk. If you did not bond well with your gliders, then they will not come when you call their names.... this is normal when gliders live in pairs and rarely have a closeness with their owners.![]() its' kinda sweet(contain sugar ) but he loves it.so should i continue giving it to him? and how u guys actually play with your gliders?mine usually will climb here climb there only. besides how do you ppl train ur gliders to be so loyal? mine won't come went i call his name unless there is food with me. |

If you want closer bond, you have to get your gliders 1 by one.... get 1 joey first... after 2 months, get your 2nd joey.... if you get 2 at a time, sometimes as people, we won't spend much time with them so the 2 joeys will bond with each other more than their owners. I mean, if say you only feed and touch touch a bit every day, a glider will not see you as a friend but only as a food provider.... to bond, you need to spend about 1 to 2 hours really hand feeding, playing and handling it everyday. Pouch bonding is a must to develop trust and also for the glider to recognize your smell and voice. Always speak to the glider and repeat its name. In time, it will learn but gliders have a mind of their own, they will only some to you sometimes if you call their names, sometimes they will just ignore.
It's not good to own only 1 glider in the long run.... 2 is the best. Getting gliders 1 by one is a good way to focus bonding but you must still get 2. |

QUOTE(Vio @ May 13 2007, 12:39 PM) oo i see. i have a pair of gliders but everyday i will only take mine out and let him out from noon till night, during that period he will always be with me . so if this still can't make him bond with me, should i separate his gf? No, separating the male and female will make things worst.... if they are always with you, means what? In the same room? That won't help much. They have to be on you. |

SG is outdoors? No wonder, this is not the right way to keep SG because outdoors got night predators.... who knows, if escape how? Also, 2pm to 11pm... that is not the right time to bond with a glider since it is their sleeping time. Gliders become active at night which is around 11pm to 5am... on and off there are small naps in between and during the day they also will get up on and off a bit to drink or eat.
Normally, the day time is for pouch bonding and during the night is to handle and play. Changing their natural timing can cause stress too. Anyway, to train it to know its name... it depends on the glider. Not all gliders will answer their names since they do have a mind of their own. I associate name calling with food and treats so this makes my glider aware that her name means good things.... As long as your glider is tame, then enjoy and be satisfied with it. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ May 14 2007, 12:02 PM) Haha, sorry for the lengthy explanation, all the result from owning a suggie and the dizzying research. Yah... all experience and research. Pity coz many gliders are sold off when their owners tire of them... the unlucky ones are then set free into our jungles or forest, I wonder how they are gonna find food only.... sad....I really want people to understand suggies better, it's not easy, but it's possible I don't want people to abandon their suggies if little things go wrong. You also know a few cases rite... Yeah, disturbing their sleeping habit is not good. Suggies are nocturnal, and we cannot change that no matter what. However waking them up for short periods should be okay, but if they want to go back to sleep, we cannot stop them from doing so. Haven't gotten around to tossing Iggy yet, tried, but he just hold on Ooo finished very fast KP Kiah does what she pleases, just now at around 11am she went back to sleep... for sure around 12am she will be active and will have her dinner You need to hold Iggy in a way where his claws are not clinging on to you.... hmm... your palm grabbing him from the back, then fling and toss. |

Hmmm... her sleeping habit was like this since you got her or just recently change? As long she is sleeping most of the time then it is fine. Joeys tend to sleep more and have odd waking hours throughout the day.
Added on May 15, 2007, 11:07 pm QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ May 15 2007, 04:44 PM) Hay is perfectly safe... but hay don't absorb urine.... so.... it won't really cover up the smell. And when hay gets wet, it tends to go stale and moldy-looking.This post has been edited by crazymouse_yyh: May 15 2007, 11:07 PM |

Could be a phase only.... don't worry, will go back to normal. Kiah was also like that at one time when she was a joey.... but pretty soon it just goes back to sleeping in the day and active at night.

QUOTE(Vio @ May 16 2007, 07:52 AM) a little advise a guys form u guys If the sound is not direct, means they are not on the piano or next to you while playing the violin, then it is ok.QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ May 16 2007, 10:22 AM) Cheaka, Eowyn so smart & cute I brought Kiah to concert and movie before.... she tidur like sleeping beauty, never wake up at all.... I'm really amazed hahahah.Sugre, I pm'ed you Vio, sounds of violin or piano, not so loud right? If it's not loud, shud be okay. But like rock concert loud, better not lar, they're very sensitive and could be scared easily. Ohh, I made a hammock for Iggy over the weekend. He's suppose to test it first, but never caught him in it until last nite KP Litter Star not working for you? Hmmm..... then try Breeder's Celect, RM22 a pack.... or Healthy Pet, Rm16.80. You can get both brands at Pet Safari. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ May 16 2007, 02:18 PM) Haha, they can sleep throughout a movie, provided not midnight show la That time she was still joey size... hahah... this is why she can tahan loud noises.... so used to it already.Dunnolah, not really, right after he pee ahh, whoaaa, so smelly, after a while baru subside. But one thing for sure, my husband don't complain anymore lah Yeah, mebbe gonna try some others when this pack finishes. Also try the ones you suggest too. Have to experiment til found the suitable one KP Ohh.... after the silicon dries then the smell vanishes hahaha.... yah, that is how litter star works... a bit slow but effective at absorbing the smell. You can try the other 2... so far I have used BC, not bad lah.... I bought healthy pet also but haven't try. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ May 16 2007, 07:46 PM) Yeah, if it's accompanied with hissing, could be UTI. Is it very2 often Cheaka? I also can't remember.... but then maybe it can be checked by Animal Medical Center.... or Taman Megah's Yeoh Clinic.... coz not many vets are capable here. I'm not sure which vet to check with la. Know any Hun? I recall in the SG thread ver 2, the earlier ones I think, someone did bring his/her suggie to vet to correct UTI, but I don't remember who lah... KP Cheaka, maybe you can call up a few numbers from the vet thread. Try your luck with the KL vets.... I can only think of AMC and Yeoh.... |

QUOTE(cheaka @ May 17 2007, 09:58 AM) Thanks Hun...i am thinking also..to bring it to the Yeoh Veterinary Clinic...but I just want to give it one more night to see how is frodo doing....I did try check around and they said try give apple juice.....so i did last night ......hissing sound no more.... Ah, good that no more hissing. Just monitor.... once a while Kiah also hisses but not often... she normally hisses when pooing coz her poo all very big hahahah.but don't know who was barking....around 5am....non stop...... About watermelon.... we should not give so much coz watermelon is a bit like junkfood... other fruits are way much better than watermelon. Of course gliders will pee more coz watermelon contains more water than other fruits.... it is better to introduce water than to give more watermelon.... |
