Kiah also eats more at night.... but recently I realize why she likes to visit my hamster to play... it is coz my hamster got sun flower seeds hahahah.... she found out how delicious they are so now I include1 to 2 seeds a day for her as a treat. Naughty Kiah heheheh.

Haha, so clever tongue.gif

You give the sunflower seed with the shell or open already? But too much also cannot right?

I open the shell for her.... safer lah. Yes, too much also cannot. Once a while or a few as treats I think should be fine... as long we shell it for our gliders lah. I takut the shell kena swallowed or something happen later... but then she is very cheeky. Now the cage has become a room decoration, she really prefers to be free ranging in my room.

Well, in my opinion it is okay to share the cage if it is big enough.

But my worry is when you need to go away or move out one day, seperating gliders could be very depressing for them unless they have their our special companion.

One more thing, since kubiz already got a male, make sure the female is at almost the same age when introducing. Cuz a sub adult or adult male with a joey female would not be the best thing.

Added on May 8, 2007, 5:36 pmOhh, I even just found out from the Glider University that the best cage size for keeping suggies aren't actually 3ft by 3ft, it should be big enough to enable them to glide from one side to another which is appx. 9ft by 9ft shocking.gif

Yeah, I know, sounds insane... So I would say, the bigger the cage, the better. Or else taking them out from their cage for occasionally for gliding, is a must... Let them spread their patagium smile.gif

biggrin.gif
KP

Yah, I think cage sharing can be a problem coz later on sure housemates will leave after graduate and have a family... and gliders can live for 15 to 20 years... so if they bond and suddenly separate, could bring a problem.

Hahaha.... 9ft is huge but if we let our gliders free range more, I think it would be ok lah. I have never seen Kiah glide much.... normally she will just jump on me from somewhere high.... I normally am the one who makes her glide by tossing her to my curtains hahahah.

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ May 8 2007, 06:07 PM)
Haihh, pening pulak read the new stuffs on Glider University. If follow all ah, we are consider cruel owners, sighhh sad.gif

Well, we can never know when suggies are on heat or not, unlike cats. I still think it is better to keep Aiko till she big enough to put together with Chika smile.gif Patient a bit wink.gif

biggrin.gif
KP
*
Yah, I agree.... let Aiko mature before let Chika get together with her heheheh....

Yalah, 9ft giler huge shocking.gif I have to have bungalow lar like that... I also think if we let them out and stretch their patagium shud be okay.

Iggy loves to hang like a square, you know hang by 2 feet and stretch in his cage. When he climb up my curtain he'll glide from the top to me... Haihh, one time missed and left a scratch mark on my thigh, other time always land on my head...

Some people ask me to toss Iggy to see him glide, but I don dare to do lah unsure.gif Will they glide immediately if tossed??

biggrin.gif
KP

Hahaha.... Iggy so cute. I rarely see Kiah do such things.... to me it looks more like jumping than gliding loh. Once awhile I do see her glide a distance.

Yah, if you toss Iggy, he will glide immediately. He will open up and land heheheh.

Have you ever wondered what colour is your sugar glider?

Lion
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen...d=275&g2_page=2
(I think this is a glider with a yellowish head colour)

Black Beauties (I think Kiah is this colour)
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen...4/?g2_itemId=94
(Darkish grey, more prominant black markings)

Chocolate Apricot - I think some of you have these
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen.../?g2_itemId=201
(Looks a bit like Lion but the body is browner)

Tan
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen.../?g2_itemId=400
(Kinda light coloured face)

Buttercreams
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen.../?g2_itemId=135
(Looks like butter? Hahaha... maybe coz of their brownish tint)

Calico
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen.../?g2_itemId=183
(it has a bit of white and the brown and grey looks patchy)

Champagne
http://www.thepetglider.com/index/componen.../?g2_itemId=189
(quite an even light browning all over)

The colours above are really not standard, all came from one website that is from a breeder in Houston ... will update if I get to see more websites with more colours.

Hun, the that breeder specialises in colors just like what nezu is doing with her gerbils wink.gif

Really geram see the many2 colors they have wub.gif

But the price ohmy.gif

And they really take care of the feeding, that's why they look chubby & healthy. You can check out some pixs during preparing and feeding the food, really luxurious smile.gif

Snowcandy, mebbe can try again with the mealworm when she a bit big.

Heheh... I know tongue.gif I also do colour breeding heheheh.

The food they prepare is really good. To top it up, they do have good glider supplements and glider products. So naturally the gliders there will have a stocky built. Actually, our gliders also can be like that buttttttt...... it is by feeding loads of sun flower seeds which is really bad. So I think it is better if we give a healthy diet and have a lean glider lah. Ours also considered healthy. As long got some supplement intake, then they will stay healthy just like those overseas.

My holidays will be in 2 weeks time.... so I got time to experiment more on new glider treats heheheh.... tongue.gif

Oh yah, I forgot tongue.gif

Fuhh, looking at the food they gave, damn nice right? Yeah, plus with the supplement summore... Haha, if can get the powdered complete glider multivitamin in bulk, then mebbe pack smaller packs for glider owners here brows.gif

I think Iggy is fat! Hahaha laugh.gif Well compared to when I first got him and the most distinctive part is his tail, last time look a bit thin and scraggy, now fluffy, fluffy wub.gif Hmm, Iggy must've been taken care very well now tongue.gif Hahaha.

Ohh, new food! Treats and mix I presume wink.gif I want another mix soon, just to add to variety tongue.gif Can wait til you holiday, no problem smile.gif Want Iggy to be tester also can, hahaha...

biggrin.gif

Yah, the multivitamin is tempting to get... hahha... yah, I agree. Maybe we can purchase in bulk and begin to feed our gliders proper stuff. Hmm... I wonder if I got friends going to Australia or not.... Oh wait!!!! I got friends studyingin Australia hahaha.... maybe I can ask them to grab some nectar and pollen for me. Heheheh.... but they will be the parrot variety coz got some parrots that have to eat nectar...

I'm gonna grab some hibiscus flowers to let Kiah have some fun. Something natural and safe to consume heheheh.

Ah, you feed good stuff to Iggy, sure lah become chubbier and healthier. It is true, a healthy happy glider will have a very fluffy tail and a rounded body.

Yah, treats and mixes heheheh.... see lah what I can come up with. Soon will give free samples again to test it.

I may try jelly treats.... but must know if gliders eat jelly or not hahahah.

QUOTE(cheaka @ May 10 2007, 10:47 AM)
I think they feed a lot on eggs, chicken and worms. I ask the petglider lady before, she said at least 10-15 worms each glider.....then also i think maybe because the weather there got cold weather...so i think that's why they need to be slightly fat to keep warm...

Lately the weather here in Malaysia also so hot...i turn on my fan whole day for them just in case they cannot tahan the heat....ahhaha....

Anyway, I tried feeding them the monkey biscuits and the cereal...they lick lick lick but i think no taste.hahaha....i think i pampered them too much for fresh food now dried food don't want liao...even the sunflower seed also hardly take...but i mixed the powder multimvitamins in the fresh fruits..totally habis everything.....heheheh  rclxms.gif

Last night eowyn was so naughty, after feeding her worms...she will do her normal rounding around my living room..but this time..she is so naughty...she went hiding somewhere and i tried looking for her for 1 hour...cannot find...worried like crazy.....

Then finally when i was about to give up...found her at one corner of the curtain... mad.gif ....i got mad...i went over there..put my arms up....scolded her then she came to my shoulder....the next thing i could feel she was trembling and pee on me.....poor thing....i bet she must be also scared liao...as usually i can find her back within like 5 minutes..this time so long..she also must be scared too that i didn't look for her....when i walk back to the cage..she quickly jump balik into the cage..... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, I notice that they include alot of mealworms and egg and meat.

Yah, about the cold weather thing, the gliders there do need more fat to protect themselves from the cold.

Oh, try this... the monkey biscuits and cereal, what you can do is soak them abit with apple juice. It may tempt your gliders to try it out since it will smell fruity.

Aiyoh, have to go look for 1 hour.... Once I was also like that with Kiah... now it's like a normal thing. Sometimes Kiah is stubborn so won't answer me when I call her name... but sometimes she is good and will come running to me after I call her.

Yah... I know.. I been there long time ago, I saw nectar and pollen for birds.... just that last time I never thought of getting a glider hahaahh.

Yups, it is illegal there. Any animal from the bush is illegal to take as pets.

Actually they are allowed to keep Sugar Glider in Australia as pets but must obtain a license. And a few regulations like your cage size and stuff have to follow. As only the zoo in australia are allowed to import/export/sell sugar glider from what i was told by an Aussie based in Melbourne. Sort of chat with them before online. Very nice people. I saw their cage setup. I pun malu man for my cage....

My books arrived!!!!.... icon_rolleyes.gif
*
You ordered sugar glider books? At kinokuniya, got a few sugar glider books heheheh....

Yes, in Australia must have a permit to breed and keep gliders... but then they are very strict. Even in Singapore now.... breeders must be approved and registered by AVA... anyway, they don't have gliders legally in Singapore, a few are sold in the black market...

Oh Really? Then how much was it? At Kino only Rm30.... but if it becomes old stock and Pay Less books gets it, then the price become RM8 heheheh.... I got Barron books at Pay Less for RM8 only but then only on certain pets lah.

I guess pet lovers will always have a stack of books on their pets to read before bed time or something.... coz I also got tongue.gif

Rep C? Is there Rep C here? Actually, if vitamins, use vitamins that are meant for small animals.... but do not overdose since too much vitamins causes them to be smelly.

As for calcium, it is very similar to reptiles.... so you can use Reptile calcium power that has no phosphorus and added Vitamin D3. Avoid using human calcium powder since our calcium intake is different a bit. Try not to use multivitamins... where vitamins and calcium are in 1 bottle since gliders need more calcium than vitamins.... those 2 in 1 bottles can disrupt the calcium ratio....

Normally the reptile calcium includes vit D3. It's ok coz it helps the calcium absorbtion. For us and most reptiles, Vit D3 is from sun light.... if I am no wrong hehehe.
