Buying/Importing Goods from Overseas, Custom Tax & Duties

I bought a wireless alarm system on eBay and got a call from UPS today. They said I need import permit from Sirim.
What can I do now? I didn't get any letter from UPS/custom/Sirim. Should I just go to the custom (I am Penang) to get the custom letter, then go to Sirim (Prai,Penang) to apply import permit (the so called AP?) then go back to custom to be taxed and retrieve my package? Or there is another way to get it without going thru Sirim import permit? Now I think the AP+tax will cost more than my RM350 wireless alarm system  |
