if i'm using amazon services and marked it as a gift, any probability to be taxes?

kaya nya bro laugh.gif

headphone normally is 5% import tax and 10% sales tax. Unfortunately you do get tax even thought you marked as gift

I'm planning to buy some Blu-rays from Amazon UK and the total exceeded RM500. Would my order still be detained by customs even if I use Amazon gift cards to reduce the total price? The invoice would appear below RM500 after being discounted by the gift cards but how does KASTAM work?
*
Depends on your luck. As for your invoice custom will only look at the actual value and not the discounted value. Sad to say but this is how it works unless your invoice is based on discounted value instead of full value.

thanks a lot melt. there's no other hidden fees already right? saw a post got this Import tax, wonder if this apply to t-shirts as well.
can a custom stop us and impose tax if hand carried in , in the airport. this will not have invoice or any price tag on the shirts. Will they ask you to pay the shirts if they are still in plastic bag and new?
*
If you are carrying a lot then they might charge you that if they caught you. Hardly see ppl get caught for hand carrying stuff (Except for illegal items)

If you do not have any invoice and you get caught they will normally work out a figure themselves that they think is reasonable.

Anyone had their item held by Malaysia Customs before? Do you hire a Custom Agent to settle it for you? Any recommendation? Thank you very much

1) Buying tube pillow
2) 10 units
3) mix of personal and business use

I dunno if I will kena or not. Just want to prepare myself in case I kena it. If I go there myself, where is the location and can I reach it by LRT or other public transport?
*
Hire an agent for less hassle.

The location is somewhere in KLIA is not reachable unless you take a taxi

Thanks for the answer, melt. I also wish to resort to agent. Do you know any reputable agent that helps clear the custom?
*
You should get a notification from poslaju/DHL/Fedex/UPS etc, just appoint them unless you have a big shipment.

Recently ship jacket, bag and some house deco product from US.  All for personal use, all kena tax 10% and the conversion rate they use is at 3.86 for every USD1.  Cekik darah betul!
*
3.86? shocking.gif are you sure? You can actually check the exchange rate for custom in this website. They change once a week. This week exchange rate is only 3.161

*
No it will based on CIF = Cost freight + insurance + cost of your items.

Hey, thanks!

But I can't find the entry on the customs website:

http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

I pasted the code in the search keyword text input space but the system didn't return any results. I wonder where I went wrong?
*
99 600 not 99 000 my mistake, next time is best just to key in the 4-6 digit number so you can see the rest. smile.gif

Hi I trace my item which is 6 unit of imitation pvc handbag worth of RM784 and it said Pending Custom Clearance. Will SKYNET contact me or Custom will contact me to settle the tax? Or I need to contact the custom manually?

It's been 5 days since my item stuck at custom clearance and still no news.

Thanks
*
you can contact skynet if you sure that they are the one shipping for you. Normally is Poslaju

Hello guys.
Need some help here.
I currently planning on buying tumbler from China.
Its 3000pcs and I really have no idea how exactly Malaysia Custom work.

Does anybody know how to calculate the duty/tax that I might have to pay?

Thank you in advance guys.
*
20% import tax 10% sales tax (plastic material)

calculation will based on insurance, cost transportation and your cost of your items

I have bought few apparels (jeans) from the states. Thinking of bringing back all of them via different parcel with each parcel value is less than USD150 but overall cost including shipping will be more than USD150. High chance of being taxed?

Also what is the HS code for jeans? 6812 80 100 or 6812 91 100 or might be other?
*
HS code should start with 6203
all should be 10% sales tax only.

I wouldnt bother to split it if I were you just calculate your shipping cost if you split it and compare it with your tax. You can ask seller to declare a bit lower value if you are worried.

I am a first timer, how much would i be taxed? whats the procedure like?
*
10% sales tax if you are shipment got stuck in custom department.

Either you can appoint poslaju or you can clear it yourself at the KLIA custom department.

electronic item will be charge 10% sales tax if not wrong. Item plus shipping more than RM500 mostly will be taxed unless you are lucky.

why not buy from local seller? the price should be around the same after included shipping cost

local red color console sold out  sweat.gif was thinking to try my luck from oversea, my gf bought a vita from amazon.jp by tenso, got lucky nvr blocked by kastam for taxes, scratching my head now whether should l just wait or risk to buy from oversea
*
like I say it will be 10 sales tax. If you willing to risk it go ahead. Chances of getting taxed should be less since the console its not in a big shape.

Just wonder what is the correct term to be used to check out the tax information on http://tariff.customs.gov.my/ for books (fiction and non-fiction)?

I used "book", "novel", "publication" and even "buku", but the result was irrelevant. The only one that I thought quite matches the condition is "-In book form", which the code is 490591000. Is this the correct one?

Thanks in advance.
*
Based on your description above it should be printed books.

maybe this link below will help

Hi guys. I recently ordered a PS3 video game via play-asia and using FedEx. The total cost for everything including shipping is RM 287, and the item weight is 0.2kg.

I heard that I will have to pay tax if using FedEx, and have read some of the previous pages. Is there a chance that I will still be taxed because my item's value may exceed RM 500? If it's possible, can someone help me estimate the total value of the item ?

Thanks.
*
If you have the invoice from playasia there is nothing to be worried about.

as for the bolded words. Only custom can do that. (only if your parcel is huge)

dont worry too much

Yes I have the invoice. But I also read this about the new tax system...

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2863345

It seems they add RM 322.15 to the value of every item under 6.4kg?
*
your invoice included shipping charges i never face this problem before. Shipping from US,UK and Japan and never got taxed with the extra charges like the topic you posted.

The only time I got taxed is from US due to the size even though my item cost around RM400. They declared RM600++
