^If it says out of custom usually it meant that the items is cleared but you should have received your items by now.
Or maybe you will get it by Monday. Advice is just to wait either for the phone or for the notice to pick-up at customs sweat.gif

Added on April 6, 2008, 11:08 amHi,
Status: Out of Foreign Customs

Your item cleared customs in MALAYSIA at 3:11 PM on April 4, 2008. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
This is the message i got from the USPS tracking. Does this mean my item was cleared liao? Or still dunno yet.... ?
Very very worry now.... haih...

Thanks.
*
Yupe, that should mean cleared already. you should get it by tomorrow.
I've often get package from Korea and if the tracking said out of custom for example today. I usually get the package the next day.

What do we do if Kastam didn't send any notice to pick up the item being held by kastam?
Is there any other way to retrieve the items?
Like who should we call?

^You should be getting your notification letter tomorrow.
Well you're not that screwed, you're only screwed if you have to pay the tax fee.

I went there last thursday to pick up my package.
Pakcik custom declared my package as 5 shirts only and I didn't get taxed smile.gif

Problem is that place is only open on weekdays and I'm working during weekdays.
Can I go there without the notification letter and what do I have to bring? I need the package urgently.
and what time do they open and close? Also how long does it take if I take the bus from KL Sentral to that place?

Added on April 20, 2008, 12:41 pmHow about used items? Since the item has no duty tax, it has a sales tax of 10%. If its a used item. is the sales tax still applicable?
*
If you can't got there, you can appoint Pos Laju as your custom agent but you need to pay RM49.50 if I'm not mistaken.
Its best that you have the notification letter as to avoid any hassle.
and if you're picking up a package for someone else just make sure you bring the person photostat IC. It didn't say so on the letter but the custom guy will ask you for it.

Important thing to bring is the notification letter, item invoice, IC and another form of identification e.g Driving License

I went there buy car, so I have no idea how long it will take to go by bus.

Ok, went to retrieved my items today at POS LAJU BAGAN DALAM, BUTTERWORTH.
There is where you collect your item that got detained by customs on the north region (I live at Sg. Petani, Kedah.)

The items retrieved are cosmetic product from Korea.
For cosmetic you need a notification letter from Ministry of Health to release them.

But for personal use no need the letter but the quantity of the product ordered cannot be more than 1 month usage.
How much is one month usage? Well that is to be determined by the pharmacy person whistling.gif

Mine was more than 1 month usage in quantity but since the pharmacy lady was so nice and in a good mood, she let me go with a warning that next time don't order to much at one time thumbup.gif

The good news was my order was around RM700 in total but no tax was charge.

So I guess, cosmetic in the quantity of 1 month usage for personal use = NO TAX icon_rolleyes.gif

Best thing is to confirmed with the kastam officer what will happend to the HP if you don't claim.
than if they send it back, just ask your friend to bring it with him/her when he get back from from the states.

ya,
better acknowledge to your friends outside Malaysia before sending here 'GIFT' especially h/phone, because the'll open it.

oh one more to add, unclaim item is not refundable to sender and become hostage, what a suck d***  mad.gif
*
Wah! really? they don't send back? because on the latter clearly stated that if item unclaimed will be post back to sender.
Last time I post blank DVD to Portugal got detained by custom there. The receiver were unable to claimed it and they post back the DVD to me.
If in Malaysia doesn't send back, that's totally suck shakehead.gif

Agreed, depends on luck.
I ordered a couple of time from Korea, same items, same quantity, non taxable item but 1 out of 5 got detained.
Not taxed but have to pickup all the way at KLIA when they were supposed to send it to my door step.

Have a question.
Is it true buying/importing stuff from HK will not get tax?
I think I read it somewhere.

Or is it for certain items or certain weight only?

Got a quick question. Let's say i live outside msia. Then i buy lots of things from outside msia and sent to me at another country. Then when i go back to msia, i put all those items in my luggage. Do i have to declare all those items to kastam in the airport? Or will i be charged with tax (and sirim app fee too tongue.gif)? Can i just not declare anything and 'run'. Afraid kene tahan lol.
*
If all the items is not in its original packages than its ok lor..
I'd brought back a tons of things from Rome and it got out ok.
Plus they didn't ask for declaration of items for Malaysian resident.

tat's mean it is legal to ship my iphone back to malaysia rite?

Handphone is not illegal item.
You can follow this steps to get the Sirim approval.

QUOTE(enCORe @ Jun 3 2008, 09:19 AM)
ok
If the item was detained (in my case h/p), straight to Sirim Shah Alam, bring the detained statement/letter. Dont go LCC-PMK (Pejabat Mel & Kurier) because POS wont allow the item retreive out, I already look for 'nego' they wont bother. The Pos staff (in room2) tell me Iv no choices because my packages was opened even my friends write 'a GIFT for FRIENDS", and it was recorded.  sad.gif

Then I go to Sirim with komuter and stop at Shah Alam, I take cab to Sirim -Seksyen 2. Once get there lend your driving card to counter and proceed to Building no 9, thx to Security that point me the building. Geti inside building 9, take your Q' number, fill the form at the counter. They give me 2 form to fill up. Iv to pay RM200 firm and they give me receipt, and contact number with AP file number.

The process of AP is 24 hours, due Im late to get there my AP (arrive there 3pm) I have to call next day. So best is to get there early morning so they can accomplish soon as possible. There are no way to speed up the AP process because Sirim have to wait Customs respond for each transaction.

Next day, I need to call the contact to get the AP number, jot down the number and bring it to LCC-PMK to claim it. Due workdays Im not yet retrieve the item  sad.gif .

Its very troublesome, they should integrate Sirim and Customs in one building

For public transport users, you can take komuter and disembark @  Shah Alam station (trip around 30 min), taxi cost is RM5 one trip.
