For cosmetics there's no tax, you just need to have a clearance latter or something like that, can't remember.
500pcs can't be declared as personal use. They count as personal use if the cosmetic you ordered is equal to a 1 month usage.
How much is one month usage you wonder, well you can keep wondering, they wont give you the exact amount that can be count as 1 month usage.
Its all up to the pharmacist, he or she will the determine whether your order is equal to 1 month usage or not.

and let's say it gets held by the kastam, I'm living in penang and i can't go to KL to claim it, any way of getting it without me going? and estimated cost ?
You will get a letter from custom if your item is held.  If you can't come to KL you can appoint someone to do the custom clearing (i.e your family...friend) or you can appoint POS MALAYSIA to do it for you (everything is stated in the custom letter so just follow what to do).

If your item detained by custom, no need to come to KL.
If the parcel is addressed to Penang. Than, KL custom will post it to Penang custom.
Most likely they will send it to the post office near the Ferry. That's where I'd go to pick up my stuff before.

hi, im kinda new at ordering things from amazon. i wonder if anyone could help answer some of my questions

1. are books custom taxable? thinking of ordering from amazon.ca

2. how does amazon charge the shipping? will it be cheaper to buy 2 books at once?
*
I don't think books are subjected to tax, bought 4 hardcover books amounting to 3kg of weight before and didn't get taxed for it.
Yes, definitely if buy more books can save more on shipping.
You can check the shipping before you make payments.

I usually ship small package to msia and thank God they arrived safely..

but next week i plan to ship some stuffs for hari raya for my family and hubby's family..in a big box..there will be some shirt, hbags, perfume and toys for them..which cost more than USD1000..I'll declare them as 'GIFT'..do i need to pay for the custom..

btw, since they are hari raya gift,i will wrap each of them nicely b4 putting them on the big box..just like what i did when i shipped those small packages..

You might not get taxed but your family might, marked as gift sometimes can get taxed also.
depends on Kastam.

Yupe, depends on their mood. Different kastam officer different protocal.
You can never really tell.
If from personal name and personal address they might let it go but if they feel like charging it, they will ask the receiver to open the packet to see what's inside.
