You can avoid tax if you bring it by car. Just unwrapped it. Let's say if stuck also you only need to pay 10% tax.

I don't think mobile phone cases need permit...
DHL helped me cleared the detained shipments a few times... End up paying custom duty fees only with 2~3 (1 working day) days of delay. so fast and efficient.
*
Yes. The item no need permit.

But until now I still not yet get the parcel or any letter from custom that my item is being held. (they shipment doesn't provide online tracking)

is there anyway to know where's my parcel??

and does dj headphone over rm500 will be taxed??  I checked the custom site but not really understand how the system worked~

Guys, if I were to buy clothes & cosmetics online from US, how much would tax be?

If RM500 below no tax, do they calculate it as items total RM500 or items + shipping total RM500?

Thanks thanks!

Edit: Woot! I just called kastam & they were really helpful in helping me out on how to avoid tax!

Clothes & Bags - only 10% sales tax. No more 20% duties!! Any amount of clothes apparently..
As long as the total is below RM500 (including shipping, insurance, etc), no tax is applicable!!
But even if I were to label them as gifts & the total is RM1000, I will still be taxed

Cosmetics - No tax!!  rclxms.gif
But the health ministry says not to bring in more than 10 units of each item or else will kena tahan & will need to get permit from Health Ministry.
He also mentioned that the safest bet is to bring in 1 unit each (1 month's consumption). So if I were to buy 9 lipgloss, all in different shades, its still fine!

But don't count on all that info, make the call yourself just to be sure -

Kastam 03-7806 7200
Health Ministry - 03-7841 3200
Cosmetics dept - 03-7883 5400
Enforcement dept - 03-87872437

Good luck!

Thank you so much. I plan to import for commercial purpose as I'm opening a shop soon.

Recently i just bought goods mainly apparel from UK. today i received email from DHL parcel pending tax clearance. I understood mine worth more than RM1k as per invoice and current exchange rate but what I dont understand is the exchange rate used by Customs as of 6/6/2011 for calculating sales tax is 1 Pound = RM6.4842. If they used rate like 1 Pound = RM5.1 or RM5.2, I still consider it acceptable.

Does any of you happen to face this kind of outdated  exchange rate used by Customs?
*
Nope never happened to me. Go counter it back.
