Spent 2-3 days reading the forums as well as trying to learn abit about ETH.

Just need a quick yay or nay for this plan.

Planning to setup a system with 3x R480 to mine ETH. Assuming electricity is not really a problem and we are doing this just for pocket money ( we are not quitting day jobs. lol ). Is it a yay or nay?

Appreciate all sifus feedback.

+/- 7usd per day for 3 RX480 .... 210usd(RM900?) per month extra for your pocket money

read my ealier post,

how much are you paying for the used 480? u know people are dumping them now as they can get a good price while they still can, just dont pay too much for them.
better get used gtx 1060 then rx 480, my gtx 1060 are getting about jsut less then 25 mhs, using claymore 9.7, my friends 480 previously was about 29 now 27 and it will continue to drop.
also gtx has no performance drop with epoch size, unlike rx

vega is coming out in few days too rumored to be 70-100 mhs but 200-300w tho,

better spend money on NVIDIA gpu, there are many good coins to mine, AMD is rather limited coins and apart of ETH/ETC, its pretty much slow hashing vs NVIDIA.

I don't know the technicalities, but I believe Russia & China will have capabilities to design much more effective GPUs once they get serious about it.
Here's an article today about Russia investing big into mining business: http://finance.jrj.com.cn/2017/08/10064922873370.shtml

its a gimmick. open ICO, claim that they have the tech know-how. Only china is forerunner in Cryto milking machine. The rest are just loser.
no other nation and company come close and superior vs CHINA.

Take the market leader, CHINA's BITMAIN. They have raked in 700+ million USD on sales of D3, S9, T9 and L3+ in the last 3 months. U can check the block-chain explorer.

how do I go about fine tuning the power draw/memory speed/core speed unsure.gif ? I've seen topics about BIOS mods but are those suggestions generic to all manufacturers ?

currently on a GTX1060 running @ 100w/78c at full capacity.

depends on your goal. what do you try to achieve?
how many GPU?
what coin do you mine?
all coins have slight different setting.

I use same ZEC setting and trying other coins. it just crashed. So need fine tuning.

My favorite Miner is CCMiner

U may downtune your POWER target is u mine in COMMERCIAL lot or if u have unlimited/free power, 1060 OC edition u can fired up to 110%

just hobbyist kind of mining with 1 GPU and would want to know how to make things more power efficient (lower power draw + lower heat generation)

currently doing ZEC (equihash) on nicehash with nheqminer Cuda linux build. Mine is a Zotac 1060 AMP edition but not the 9gbps one

Noob here after reading few pages im lost, Can i confirm few things:-

1. bitmain.com.my is a scam? buy direct from bitmain.com?
2. why Antminer D3 is more expensive than s9? when the hashrate only in GH where the later in TH?
3. Is it because it can mine altcoins too like ethureum where S9 only Bitcoin?
4. How to buy the Antminer, i saw 11st is selling s9 at 14K

Based on TNB 38 sen per Kwh, using S9 this is my earning

user posted image

is this correct? If using D3 profit will be higher?

google tnb charges, or look behind your electric bill, it will tell you there.

i currently mining eth with claymore 907 with gtx 1060 pl/core/mem = 64/140/900
try to up your memory first once u hit stable max, up your core, and last down your pl.
some cards will have issues running around 900 mem.
i leave my fan on auto and it never goes above 40%, temp very seldom go pass 70c

your core speed is very high, if you lower your pl it will make a big difference in temp, pl 65 is a sweetspot for my cards.

bitmain.com.my is not official bitmain.com its just some resaller in malaysia, i think he has a shop in klang. price is expensive and most items preorder too. might as well buy from bitmain.com
D3 and S9 mine different things, and they run different algo.
D3 x11 can only mine x11 coins etc...
s9 sha256 can only mine sha 256 coins
https://whattomine.com/asic
best to buy antminer from bitmain.com dirrectly

dont calculate tnb using 38c, thats is a lower tier, i calculate using the highest tier 57c as i have multiple units, u need to look at your tnb bill first and see how much units u use before mining.

eg a D3 asics that run about 1400w run 24/7 uses 1000 units of electricy = RM580 at 57c rate

i'm still quite new to understanding the core/mem clock increase.. let's say i'm using MSI afterburner as the overclocking tool, does that mean i need to do :-

pl : 65%
core : +140
memory : +900 shocking.gif unsure.gif

Power Limit say 80%.
Core as much as possible
MEM +700-800

All GPU and miner and coins have different settings. Keep trying to optimise between Mem and Core
