I'm doing ETH mining on Azure using Ethminer with 2x Tesla M60s but the hashrate is like around the 30-40MH/s region. Is this considered expected ? unsure.gif

Try cuda friendly mining

40mh

Equal to about 3xmodded rx560
For your 2x Tesla m60

Which would consider very very very bad
*
did used a cuda compiled ethminer but doesn't seem to help much.. what other cryptos are cuda friendly ?

The above is correct, some cards after tweaked is really good.

Even for GTX 1050 Ti card, I lowered the Target Power and I can get the same hashrate while drawing around 20% less power.

any particular card manufacturer ? unsure.gif

btw is it better to mine with a pool or just standalone , noted that standalone ones would come with a bigger reward but lower occurrence unsure.gif vice versa with mining on a pool

is it still worth it to get this piece of hardware?

4G seems to be on the borderline hmm.gif hmm.gif

good point, but as in all forms of investing, be fearful when everyone else is being greedy. Thats why asking all the sifus here. Thank you very much for replying as well. i am a believer in crypto (ETH in particular).  but just my current concerns are the rewards decline that people are experiencing as well. People have reported steady declines in return as much as 40% in 26 days. And another issue is Casper (which i know is a longshot and still unknown)

For example, is it more worth it for me to use said capital to invest in ETH directly instead of the rig

I know there is no right or wrong answer , just looking forward to have a discussion and a peek into everyone's thoughts smile.gif
*
IMHO if you have the funds to even invest in the currently exponentially inflated GPU prices, might as well directly invest in the coins smile.gif

I remember when doing research on these, RX570 more processing power but consume much higher power, also super limited stock, hence many get 1060 6GB.

Depends on  what do u want to mine.
Nvidia is better for most other coins.

AMD is limited for the time being.

QUOTE(Leon be here now @ Jul 14 2017, 02:54 PM)
you can find RX570??

about 2 weeks ago, the people found out that the dag file is going effect the rx series cards, it does not effect gtx
dag file increase hash rate slowers, the epoc size for ethereum i mean.
i would stick with gtx 1060 for now.
*
I guess conclusively it is the GTX card having a better future aspect hmm.gif

Btw does it matter which GPU manufacturer to buy from ? I've seen some threads going into specific memory chipsets unsure.gif

how do I go about fine tuning the power draw/memory speed/core speed unsure.gif ? I've seen topics about BIOS mods but are those suggestions generic to all manufacturers ?

currently on a GTX1060 running @ 100w/78c at full capacity.

depends on your goal. what do you try to achieve?
how many GPU?
what coin do you mine?
all coins have slight different setting.

I use same ZEC setting and trying other coins. it just crashed. So need fine tuning.

My favorite Miner is CCMiner

U may downtune your POWER target is u mine in COMMERCIAL lot or if u have unlimited/free power, 1060 OC edition u can fired up to 110%
*
just hobbyist kind of mining with 1 GPU and would want to know how to make things more power efficient (lower power draw + lower heat generation)

currently doing ZEC (equihash) on nicehash with nheqminer Cuda linux build. Mine is a Zotac 1060 AMP edition but not the 9gbps one

i currently mining eth with claymore 907 with gtx 1060 pl/core/mem = 64/140/900
try to up your memory first once u hit stable max, up your core, and last down your pl.
some cards will have issues running around 900 mem.
i leave my fan on auto and it never goes above 40%, temp very seldom go pass 70c

your core speed is very high, if you lower your pl it will make a big difference in temp, pl 65 is a sweetspot for my cards.
*
i'm still quite new to understanding the core/mem clock increase.. let's say i'm using MSI afterburner as the overclocking tool, does that mean i need to do :-

pl : 65%
core : +140
memory : +900 shocking.gif unsure.gif

Power Limit say 80%.
Core as much as possible
MEM +700-800

All GPU and miner and coins have different settings. Keep trying to optimise between Mem and Core
*
so far i've only managed to deal with +550~+600 on the memory and +140 core until error appears, this is on Hynix memory btw.

however noticed that when i drop the power limit to +70 the memory and core adjustments seems to not take effect anymore hmm.gif

which would be a better mining option ?

1. Selling mining power through nicehash
2. Mine individual coins (ZEC, XMR, ETH) from pools (e.g. nanopool)
