i've just got email from ubisoft last night: Massive and Ubisoft are extremely happy to announce World in Conflict: Soviet Assault - A single player expansion which is scheduled for release on PC in March 2009. The mini expansion tells the story of from the perspective of the Soviet Army, with a number of new missions and characters, completely intergrated with the original world in conflict campaign. The new missions will be available exclusively on the PC. In stores you should keep an eye out for "World in Conflict Complete Edition" (World in Conflict Soviet Assault) in the US - consisting of both the original game and soviet assault missions plus bonus maps. If you already own the original game and just want to get your hands on the new content, the soviet missions will be released online as a downloadable product which is fully compatible with old save files. We hope that you will enjoy this new edition of world in conflict saga! We intend to make it easy for both returning veterans and new players to find a great home in the community, and we welcome everyone with open arms. It still confuses me, will the expansion be made as a Free DLC or do we need to pay for it? << Hoping for a Free DLC, LOL This post has been edited by man3k: Feb 19 2009, 08:33 AM

I just finished the single player campaing of WIC vanilla, top game and totally enjoyed it. Was gonna try the multiplayer then i found the expansion is already out! Trailers are amazing. But no pc version just yet! Anyway guys, i read that the expansion is a cross genre of fps and rts. Is this true ? Can you really take over individual units like the helis or infantry and play it like a fps ? I cant seem to find any videos of it. So i appreciate if you lot whos playing game can tell me. Cheers.

No worries, So far the trailers of the upcoming soviet assault PC version retains the same gameplay as the original. Expect stuff like new missions, units and minor graphic updates in the expansion. It will be available next month.
The last time i played something like the idea you spoke of is C&C: Renegade lol. That was way back then. It's nice, but lacks depth in Multiplayer. I was hoping for something more.

Guys, can anyone tell me how the multiplayer system for this game works? Thinking of purchasing the Complete Edition for the multiplayer. And how's the ping for the multiplayer games? Very high or just reasonable?

Just reasonable i'd say, ping around 250 to 400. The multiplayer system has 3 modes, all of them will need co-operation by faction members. Each person will have to choose a role like Infantary, Tank, Support and Air Unit. You will need to help each other. My copy just arrived today *Ordered from tsb yesterday liao, poslaju can be really fast at times*. The opening mission for Soviet is AWESOME, Fuel Bomb For The Win! I'ts like a big bang in the air. You will have to replay the US missions. US & Soviet missions will shift according to the story timeline. But no worries since it will save your previous missions. For those who have the previous sierra copy, the new ubisoft edition will go straight to installing the Expansion. Hmm, i'm thinking of selling my previous copy. Original WiC owners can fight online with owners of the newer version without problems. There's also several update that contains bug fix, better controls and graphics tweak. Honestly i was disappointed with the expansion. Its just simply 6 additional mission for the single player campaign. Also the new mission doesn't really contribute much to the storyline.. I expected like a whole new campaign however it didnt happend.

That is so VERY TRUE, i wish someone told me about this earlier. But we had no choice.. Can't buy Soviet Assault only. Must buy the Complete Edition. I guess i'll really be selling this off later. However, i think the pricepoint is excellent for people who haven't tried this game before. It's a great time to buy. This post has been edited by man3k: Mar 24 2009, 09:14 PM

Last time during my "ahem" version on WiC there no such prob, anyone face this prob? if no it could be i max out my setting~~

Yep, when my buddy first played the game on my behalf. The game crashed too. But just that time only. Later all seems okay even with Max Settings and The Extra Explosion Debris enabled. You will need to turn on that extra debris option yourself as the Very High settings will not turn it on. Probably they don't recommend it as it makes the game processing much heavier when the battle intensifies.
