Tried to play it on Vista, in XP it was really smooth at a relatively high setting, qhwn come to vista, it is not very smooth at the same setting so i was forced to turn the resolution down. Now its smooth BUT the damn thing keeps crashing always says my gc failed and recovered again. Using a 8800 GTS 320mb. Maybe too little video memory, maybe i should just buy the 640mb version.

with my rig, i'm playing at 1680x1050 with 90% high settings. just no AA, physics at medium, 4x AF, no cloud over water shadow, vehicle tracks at medium. all other option on and high. playing smoothly and enjoying every moment of destruction and explosions smile.gif

it goes to show there's no point getting a mid range dx10 card cos really no power to play dx10 game with good fps. even my x1950pro powered pc can play at 90% high settings. very smooth and beautiful.

Try update ur drivers, AFAIK NVidia drivers not as mature as ATi drivers running in Vista. Or switch back to XP for better performance, coz Vista was frame rate killers

AFAIK from numerous DX10 benchmark from various website. Nvidia DX10 performance > ATi DX10 in most of the games

Hey i posted earlier about getting performance hits in vista while using DX10 compared to Windows XP. I solved the problem. All you had to do was to download the hotfix theyasked u to download. Go see their tech support forums at: www.worldinconflict.com

Then after that download the beta drivers from nvidia (if u're using an nvdia card) and then last but not least, update your dx10 at the mircrosoft website and you are good to go. Right now my computer performance is abouthe same as when i was using xp but I still can only play medium - high with aa / ap 2x. You will really notice a big difference when u run AA.

my rig is a E6400 recently OC'ed to 3.2gHz / 2gb ddr2 800 / 8800 GTS 320 mb but still can't run it at high. Can run it at high, just when got lots of explosions my fps drops to below 15.

ive watch the gameplay videos for this game

they just move around the battlefield.... selecting airstrike... moving tanks /heli here and there

thats all ????
and i read some of the reviews.... they said u just move ur units...and watch them fight...either win or lose

hmmm

You have to manage your units...you cant just watch them fight...there is no resource management. If you do that you will always lose a lot of units. The Key word is 'tactical awareness'.

Well, those whom play lots of RTS should aware of armour types, such as Warcraft where they have the damage table versus armour type.

As for this, hitting from infront or behind (For tanks) Will inflict different damage. Movement while firing will lower your Hitrate as well, timing for the tactical aid (Support fire such as Artillery) is a crucial planning as well unless you wanna waste the points xD

But it's really hard to explain since everything is base on gameplay. Unlike normal Strategy game like Starcraft or warcraft where you could understand from seeing people play, in WiC. You have be on the battlefield to know what's going on xD

*There are Some people might not know what's going on around the battlefield during the gameplay tho= =*

AND yes, can set which unit to attack, there is atk and def skill as well =) You have to learn how to retreat, ambush, and when to suicide =P

From a spectator point of view all you see is explosion, buildings and tanks getting blown up, infantry getting killed and radio chatter.

For me the most interesting thing is getting to use fire support not only it is awesome but you must familiarize yourself in using to put it into full effect. This is defiantly one of the most balanced RTS where you have to make use of all available units you have to ensure victory over the battlefield. All roles have important parts in the game unlike other RTS where spamming large amounts of the same units netts you easy victory.
