dear rayblade,
you have misread the information thus mislead by the advertisement and buy the speakear believing it got usb audio input.

the speaker actually use the usb as a power source only, not to transfer signal. you will need the 3.5 cable comes with it.

only speaker that i actually know using usb to transfer signal is the one of altec 7.1 speaker... or is it creative, i dont remember which
*
logitech z-cinema/bose companion 3/bose companion 5 also uses usb to transfer signal too

laugh.gif iirc each time i take a peek behind C3 acoustimass there isn't any USB.. for C5 yes they do have... cause if C3 has USB connection which means it has internal DAC, thus for that price.. its not that expensive afterall...

Audio Source: USB or 3.5 mm line-in

if so, then it's false advertising

i suspect those magazines just take the info from Leapfrog without actually doing the testing themselves (if as what you said, the USB does not transfer audio signal at all)

buy new one
don't buy sonic gear next time
sonic gear speaker malfunction easily due to it's low quality build

i suggest that you save your expense to repair the sonic gear speaker to buy another speaker brand which is more durable. i have enzo7000 that cost rm530. the sub blew up and i went to repair it, cost me rm80. after some time, the problem reoccur plus now the decoder also blew up.

now total up rm530 plus rm80, and i can buy high quality and durable speaker.

if you love bass then choose the logitech z-2300 but I warned you that the satellite speaker isn't very good. not very clear and vocals are muffled.

try choosing other brands like edifier, altec lansing and say no to sonic gear because sonic gear will rosak easily

buy new one
sonic gear normally have lots of problem in their build quality
if you fix the transformer sooner or later it'll break down again

either the speaker to PC cable defected or the amp inside malfunction
sonic gear isn't good as they tend to break easily
if the warranty is still valid you should send it back to claim warranty
