Nice. Is that for long-term hold or you have target price?
*
probably just sell half to recoup my capital and some profit.
dont think will keep it super long term.

gonna dip like mad when wallet release
but im prepared to sapu what i can sapu biggrin.gif

i threw 0.103eth at it during ICO. 1 ETN = 0.01usd (or lesser due bonus)
the coin is mostly hype and marketed at new crypto users.

QUOTE(OcHaa @ Dec 13 2017, 02:54 PM)
so there is nothing wrong in my calculation?
technically when btc price goes up, selling alt coins to btc gets me less btc
*
yep, because BTC higher than Alt, even tho Alt in USD same price, you get back less BTC.
unless Alt can rise or keep up with BTC rise, you can earn more BTC if Alt more than BTC.

or if BTC suddenly crash and Alt stays the same.

thats sad
both way also lose

lol
*
if you into alts, you need to measure vs satoshi instead of USD.
if you see USD, might as well u just hold on to BTC because most alts dont pair vs USD.
must keep in mind, the goal of alts is to earn more BTC/ETH. know your end goal lol

QUOTE(xiaobaiwm @ Dec 13 2017, 04:20 PM)
Further explain?
*
if your end goal is more fiat, then you should buy btc, wait till it rise and sell.
this way, you just see fiat price (MYR/USD) vs BTC.

if your end goal is more BTC, can either trade vs fiat or trade vs alt.
you will need to see in satoshis when trading with Alts.
example : you buy 0.03 ETH/BTC, sell at 0.04ETH/BTC, this will result in more BTC.

but if BTC suddenly rises like recently, ETH USD value might still be at the same but vs BTC rate, ETH is dipping vs BTC and if you sell it to BTC, you end up losing more BTC despite it seems you might be earning in USD.
example :
> ETH priced @ 400usd, is 0.04 ETH/BTC
> BTC moons
> ETH price @ 400usd, but in terms of Satoshi is 0.03.
> selling your ETH to BTC, result in a loss of 0.01 BTC, even tho in terms of USD its the same.

not sure if I explained it right.. haha

QUOTE(wengherng @ Dec 13 2017, 05:25 PM)
Personally, I actually do not agree with that.
A lot of people say the same, that the goal of altcoins is just to earn more BTC.
I don't share that view at all.
For me, with the exception of shitcoins (and there are many of those), many altcoins are very valid projects in and of themselves, and deserve to be viewed individually in their own right.

When I buy ETH, or OMG, or NEO, I do not see it as a means to obtain more BTC by trading back into BTC later.
I buy into them purely for the project objectives, and their goal to change the way we do things traditionally, whether smart contracts, payment processing, etc.

But ultimately, we still have to gauge their value by means of a reference, so I use USD as a point of reference instead of satoshi.
Firstly, even if fiat appreciation is my objective, it is an extremely risky move to just hold BTC itself as 100% of my portfolio, so diversification is key.
Secondly, as I mentioned above, we have to consider the individual projects and our support for what they hope to achieve.
Thirdly, it really doesn't matter whether BTC goes up or down as long as the altcoin's fiat value goes up, regardless of how much BTC has moved, as long as we do an instant transaction into BTC and then into fiat directly (minus some spread and transaction fees).

Of course, this is just my personal opinion, and I fully understand that everyone has their own investment objectives.
Also, right now I am investing with an ultimate objective of fiat appreciation, but in future, when bitcoin really starts to become the currency of choice (and I do see a real possibility here), then my investment objective may change to adapt as well.
*
it depends what your end goals are.
I am not saying all alt coins are shit and the end goal is always going to be BTC.
there are many coins with many promising projects to invest in.
i am also investing in other coins, diversifying my portfolio. I have BTC ETH NEM IOTA and other ICOs that I believe in.

but on the trading front, some coins like say, XRP, I am just in it to earn more BTC or ETH. so i am just looking at how much I can profit in terms of BTC/ETH. if i spot an opportunity in the market to profit, then yeah. just pump in and dump it and walk away with more ETH/BTC, it is I am aiming for.

Luno charged me rm127 when i sent rm37 worth btc to other platform.

After that i found one way to avoid the charge, not sure bug or what.

example if u have 1.5biji BTC in ur wallet and u only want to send out 0.5biji to other,

you can place 1biji to exchange order with ridiculous price, then you send the whole 0.5biji (do not left any amount of btc),

then luno wont charge u any fees, then you may cancel the exchange order and u will see u got 1 whole biji btc.
*
oh damn you a genius. didnt think of that

I understand that the BTC unit won’t change but shouldn’t the MYR value fluctuate according to market value?

fluctuate according to Luno's exchange market value. every exchange has their own market price.

for binance, it is 0.1% fee for any trading, is it expensive given that we buy and sell oftenly? btw, is 0.1% charged by fiat or cryto?
*
0.1% is not very high. poloniex is 0.15%
its deducted on the crypto you bought or sell.
buy ETH, 0.1% off your ETH.

if you use BNB coin on Binance, its 0.05%
they charge your BNB holdings instead of the crypto you buy/sell

Lookout for BCH. Those who bought for trading purpose, there was a good sell yesterday night around 1960 USD. Now back to 1730 USD. TA groups noticed there might be a pump for BTC during the weekend which might affect BCH/Alt Coins.
*
its a good time to sell as many your alts holding to btc now.
BTC on the rise, closer to futures. could hit another ATH again, then can buy back your alts.

write down your 24 words. if your device spoil, you can get another 1 and restore your account.

18k USD in Bittrex seems like anytime soon now. Moving up very fast. On the same time, BCH was hit pretty badly. Regret my sell order was way too high which was not fullfilled. Going to just keep it for now.
*
BCH and BTC usually move opposite direction. BTC up, BCH usually down. BTC down, BCH up.

so mean even i lost it but as long as i still keeping the 24 keys i still can get it back?
*
yes, so that 24 words are more important than your device. its the only way to restore your privates keys into your Ledger.

if someone were to obtain those keys, he can restore it to another device as well.
