Anybody has encountered problem with Bosch cordless drill whereby the battery just failed to be charged (the charger light was continuous indicating rhe charging operation is not running)?

At first I thought I got a bad battery and charger, so I change to a new battery and charger. At first it was good, but few days after the battery failed to charged again. Fed up, i change to a new battery and charger.

I suspect something wrong with the drill making the battery bad because even after I change to a 3rd battery and charger, after few usages the battery cannot be charged back.

It's weird. Anybody encounter same problem with mine?

Blade compatibility as mentioned, is still a bit of a mystery with unknown brand. Unless purchase from hardware retail shop then you can see that it fits or not.
As osci tool seems more specific as compared to jigsaw blades (either makita half eaten cheese type, or bosch T mount type); I remember my boss last time purchase some cheapo jigsaw for one off usage but we can use bosch blades so managed to cut many pcs of 4x8 plywood easily.

hi guys, I'm just starting with diy woodwork. doing some simple benches, shoe rack, those kind of stuff. thinking of getting some power tools to improve productivity. most probably circular saw for cutting and drill for holes and tightening. still debating if drill driver is sufficient or do i need an impact driver for this job scope. can you guys suggest a good combo for diy woodwork? prefer 18v battery system.
*
Circular saw will provide the nicest cuts if you match it with a fine blade (80T). Fast cut (30-40T) type is very fast but it will splinter off (used for rough sawn framing and things like shipping wood packaging).
**For this one the 184/185mm (7in) blades are common, other size like 165mm may be a bit harder to find the blades. Can look at the bosch range, or makita.

Drill driver will be useful. Match it with 110mm long screwdriver bit will be the best. There is a diff between the cheapo and good ones like Milwaukee "impact rated" bits, the good ones are expensive but they last longer. Cheap ones tend to slip out and botak the screw head and/or the bit breaks.

Impact driver normally used for high torque application like tyre nuts and heavy duty fastening/loosening (like trailer wheel nuts). If the max you will fasten is M10/M12 nuts for sleeve anchors, then you don't really need an impact driver.

Hi

Just wanna ask, the Bosch GSB 120 li can drill hole in wall?
Mine Taman landed house.

Just for home use. Not drilling in big screws to the wall.
Also i wanna use for polishing car and headlights.

Use maybe 2-3 times a year at most.

Thanks.
*
Can, spec say up to 8mm in masonry (brickwalls only). But if you want to be sure the GSB180Li is more powerful, the GSB120 (being a 12V tool) might bog down if you kena a hard spot.

Hmm some 288Vf tools seem to have size of 6AH battery but write there 19800 mah (19AH). Dunno can trust or not.

The main concent is the Ikea tv cabinet...din come with the bolt at all :/
*
Those sleeve anchor are very commonly available.
The separated ones (called drop in anchor) are easier if first time installing - if the inner part's skirt doesnt open, then the anchor won't mount anything. Easier to remove the bolt and try again.
Sleeve anchor can be a suicide mission if the hole not deep enough or the skirt fail to open all the way.

Drop in= https://shopee.com.my/-100--ORIGINAL--SIN-H...ByABEgLX_fD_BwE

Sleeve anchor = https://shopee.com.my/SYW-SLEEVE-ANCHOR---W...BCABEgLJHfD_BwE

For drop in anchor they will write the bolt size - metric M8 or M10 size or those in inches 1/4 or 5/16 so u need to get the right bolt (size and length need to be just nice - no need full length (there is a stopper halfway) if using drop in.

Ya..tv cabinet and and TV bracket.
*
TV cabinet (BESTA) hanging on the wall, is using the suspension rail.
Similar to METOD kitchen.. you just need the cheese head screws (not CSK flat head), 2 inches screws and 50mm wall plug is sufficient. The weight is distributed among 10-15 screws so each one take less than 10kg.

QUOTE(chamelion @ Nov 26 2020, 11:32 AM)
you hammer the wall with nail?  blush.gif

18V drill (GSB 180-LI) is a good choice and will last long as it also has a multi-purpose role. it can use as a screwdriver too.

Do take note because there is no hammer function, you will need drill longer for the wall (brick) and even longer for concrete.
If you want to spend, then get a cord hammer drill and a battery drill.

Use the hammer drill to drill the wall and the battery drill to fasten the screw into the hole.

Edit
mybad, GSB 180-LI have impact function which is even better. just this will do the job.
*
Easy to remember,
GSB = B for Bang = got impact
GSR = R for reverse = only reversible, no impact (cannot bang) laugh.gif

QUOTE(hinfinitie @ Nov 26 2020, 12:00 PM)
Yeah hammer with thick nail, overestimated my ability sweat.gif

Thanks for the explanations!! Would you suggest any cheaper brand/model? Or lower end 12V ones. Just to do this particular job.

Don't think we will use it very often, might end up collecting dusts.
*
GSB 180 should be better idea. The 120 is light duty. sweat.gif

Ya..besta.
*
Firstly before any mounting make sure to have a spirit level.
Ideally about 80cm or so not too long, not too short will be easier to control.
Cheap one about 16-20 bucks from hardware shop, boleh pakai also lah.
But if want instaworthy tool then this one is good stuff also (going on clearance): sola spirit level

For the TV cabinet (https://www.ikea.com/my/en/assembly_instructions/besta-suspension-rail__AA-1272162-10_pub.pdf ) page 12/ step 4 describes using at least 4 screws (wall plug) mounting per unit of the besta box.
This is as per chamelion post above, just drill 6mm hole, insert wall plug 2" and use 2" screws confirm will work perfectly.

For the TV bracket technically even if you mount a 60" TV (taking Sharp LC-60LE650U Spec as example, 55.1 lb / 25.0 kg without stand 61.7 lb / 28.0 kg with stand) so no need to really use heavy duty mounting.. technically four or six 2" screws like besta style already can support because weight is very light (7kg per screw or so only). However, depending on the TV bracket mounting hole size this would impact whether u can use screw or need to figure out the sleeve anchor part.

Update:
Got a China brand cordless drill 21V + 2 batteries (with hammer function) from local hardware shop (RM 160, shopee might be selling much cheaper but too many variations), then Bosch X33 bits, wall plugs, job done.

3M mounting tape collapsed after a day  sweat.gif

Thanks a lot for the advices!!

Is GSB RE 10 starter set a good investment for home diy which include drilling hole for ceiling lights ?
*
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5041467/+4

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4309490/+3644 if making this kind of hole in wall you need rotary hammer.

If your ceiling light hole just a 20c coin in plaster ceiling any drill also can.

Just drill hole to install surface downlight at the ceiling, for condo any ways. Wanna DIY do .

Not the 2nd link type of hole  sweat.gif
*
Attached Image this is how they normally construct high rise (with concrete floor slab).

Oh on the floor slab (concrete slab).
Then recommend to get rotary hammer. Rotary hammer drill for wall plug very easy 5 second per hole effortless. Normal drill / impact drill will take u forever like 5min per hole while user pressing body weight into the drill.

Elcheapo ones from Mr DIY overheat fast and thus may not be that great if need to wait long long for it to cool off if you need like 40-50 holes done in one shot. Coz I think you would probably be installing more than one light.

Cheap decent rotary hammer one can get the Daewoo as shown by hirano post which I just replied to earlier this morning. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=99245906

One step up is those from bigger name Stanley Hikoki Bosch Makita.
Usually cheaper to get wired tool with just the rotary hammer. Bits you won't need whole collection of them for wall plug, 5.5/6mm for #8,#10 wall plugs shud be standard and will cover most wall plug. #12 wall plug need something bigger like 6.5mm bit (this is not so commonly used IMO). For sleeve anchor aka tv bracket you can then pick up the necessary 10mm or 12mm bit later on.

For wood or metal these no need impact or hammering so chuck adapter (for smooth round shank convert to SDS plus) needed ya. This adapter 10-20 bucks only.

I'm sure it is not super glue. Super glue is not a gap filler. The two surfaces to be glued together has to be perfectly matched for best result..
*
My bad. I think it was 2pt epoxy.
Anyhow the idea was to illustrate its not so much as the adhesive strength but the paint will likely give up first if a good adhesive were to be used to stick things to painted walls.

Better don't buy. If you look at it, there is nothing to brace upon during cutting unlike reciprocating saw.

Once the chain rotates, that saw will pull away from you and it is your hand that pull back and hold the saw in its position.
*
Actually come to think of it the cheapo-er drill driver and rotary hammers don't come with the overload clutch to minimise risk of twisting your arm if the bit gets stuck right?
