im planning to buy bosch GBH 180 cordless drill..is it i need to buy key chuck adapter to use normal drill bit?i dont really understand sds function on this drill..can somebody explain it in layman term.. TQ very much
*
To make it simple. Normal hammer drill is like you hold a nail with a plier then HIT THE PLIER instead of the nail with a hand-held hammer.

While with SDS system you are holding a nail with a plier and hitting right behind the nail.

Adding to that, if you look from engineering perspective, there are so much inefficiency in normal hammer drill. It is actually a face gear bumping onto another. Thus produce a lot friction. It will be worn and used-up fast.

One big difference you can notice is the impact rate between these two systems.

Wasn't stainless steel is more common one available. Usually its either stainless steel or the black carbon alloy.

And you can't completely avoid rust. They will eventually oxidize (corrode). If you ever change an old cistern, then you will know.

From your picture, most of them is slot driven, and I think nowadays, most screw sold are Phillips driven and its better. And drywall screw usually have a steeper thread.

Guys..need advise between these two drill Bosch and Stanley  icon_question.gif

1. BOSCH GSB16RE
- 6 month warranty
- RM303
- 701W
- 1.9kg
- Normal chuck
- Hammer Drill, Drill Modes
2. STANLEY SHR263KA
- 24 month warranty
- RM330
- 800W
- 2kg
- SDS plus chuck
- Hammer Drill, Drill, Chisel Modes

I never own both brand for power tool.. previously own Black and Decker... does Stanley spec bit overpower?
*
Put aside the waranty duration.
That ~RM 30 gave a big difference between those two.

I compare 1 to 2 item in going-to-be on roadshow CT Hardware sale price to CSM. The price dont really different.

Any sale please share. Last time Living Depot sale in Puchong, no power tool really on sale. Mostly house appliance only.

Any advice on what type of drill bits to use to make holes on wall ceramic tiles? Any precautions i should take? Need to drill some holes to hang mirrors, hangers, etc
*
Use tile drill bit then switch to masonry/concrete drill bit.
Tape over the mark you are going to drill.

Traditionally people used to drill on the intersection. Over the grouting.

Guys, do you think it's good to invest this driver and collect its different head.

The concept looks kind of pratically portable tools with minimum space consumption.

Will they eventually develop new 18v brushless driver to use with those heads in future?

This thing is more for home DIY while people doesn't expect to handle very heavy load.
Use it in full time work sure spoil very fast.

Yea. Kinda not professional for contractor.

Plus Murica is the heaven for power tools.

Black & Decker sit last in Staley brands.
Dewalt > everything in SBD > Black & Decker.
