If you only need to drill one to two holes. It's ok to first drill with spade bit and periodically wet the bit. Then change to rotary.

But if you install a kitchen cabinet for example, I just straight use rotary with the hammer function without the tape. Start slowly. The tile wouldn't break, but do chipping 1 in 20 hole. Since the hole will be covered so no care.

Those giants, nowadays you are likely to pay for the brand tag rather than their tools credibility.

Unless you're saying for their trademark power tool like Hitachi for their nailer, Bosch for their SDS, Hilti for their breaker, etc.

How long warranty brand here? I know Dewalt have like 3 years limited warranty. The most reliable is Hilti, the send people to pickup your broken tools within 2 years.

The so called renown brands, to break 1 to 2 times within 6-12 months is normal, so does cheaper tool, nothing special.

In US for example, they have the latest model, offer 2-3 times cheaper price than here and longer warranty period.
Ridgid, Hikoki is lifetime warranty. 5 years Milwaukee warranty, etc. If you follow Milwaukee fb group page. They tend to do 1 to 1 replacement for broken tools.
Thats reliability.

You have budget?

I don't know how to answer this. I have a huge appetite with a small budget. Hence looking for second hand.

I'm looking at between 36v Hikoki and Dual bateri Makita.

Funny thing is, I got a quotation from a hardware for a specific c3607dra model that turn out to be not actually available in Malaysia. *The hardware made a correction later.

rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif Just ordered solo unit GBH180Li at 399 and the battery + charger separate.
Funny that the parts total (split separately) is still much cheaper than those all-in-one combos.

I bet the all in one have different Ah batteries.

Hilti kinda in its own world. They have different market target. They aren't really automotive neither woodworking.

Milwaukee only popular in north America, they are good in marketing. They have almost every tool you need and they offer power. But Milwaukee has the worse quality. Becareful for their "first" version of any tool. Wait for second or third gen. The only reason they a favored is their 5 years warranty in North America.

Dewalt are better quality.

Bosch are hit and miss. Theg invent alot of tools and I think they catching up with the market. New high demand battery and they are 50% Germany, 50% China-Malaysia. Their Germany counter part really doing well because they share technology. Like their circular base plate with Mafell. Sortimo tool box, latest work light with Flex. Rupes and the list goes on.

I don't think Makita has impact driver with over 200nm of torque, Makita generally goes for refinement than raw power. Their current top impact model is the DTD171 aka XDT16.

At 116mm in length, its likely the shortest 18V impact driver currently. Makita AU site has more organise listing . RM999 from Shopee

I believe only some odd Driver/Drill model comes with (quick release) hex anvil, like the Makita DDF083, which will limit the bit it can accept, its more of a screwdriver than drill or impact driver. Most standard driver/drill comes with chuck. If you want more power of 125nm with full metal gears and chuck, DDF481; subcompact DDF483 has shorter length of 162mm; if you prefer something in between, DDF484.

They have 40v impact driver. Need to google for the torque tho.

The only reason you would buy that Bosch over Stanley if you're planning to buy another Bosch 12V tools.

Better to get real power bank. For RM40 you can get decent and compact power bank.

By using the battery to charge your phone. You already reduce the battery lifecycle / life span. Battery not cheap, neither the adapter.

Usually for Bosch, if the same model were available for Euro market, they have plastic inlay for Lbox.

Unfortunately you have to order overseas for the inlay.

As mention by ceo684, you need a corded rotary hammer. Since you looked into DCA, they also have promotion for their rotary @ RM199.

DCA / Dongcheng is a little different from other China brand. They actually reliable. Is there any chance that their factory produce OEM for Makita?
