use m6 wallplug/anchor is more than enough. I think they give you m10 which is over kill.
mr dyi selling stainless steel wall plug quit cheap.

I agree with this. The keyword is stainless steel, not chromed. If you want to use screw, at least aluminum. You will hate to see brown rust color over the paint in few years. I suppose that address plate is weather proof biggrin.gif

Even all my air-cond anchors are stainless steel. Just install and forget. smile.gif

No idea this is ceramic ka porcelain ka
Ok I go buy one tile bit

The one in the bathroom is soft (ceramic). The harder one is usually used on car porch floor. Inside house floor is white ceramic also. Easy to drill with tile drill bit like the spade shape. For porcelain, it is still hard.

have u ever use those diamond core drill bits?  hmm.gif
i wonder if its better in drilling porcelain .
mine the porcelain is kitchen table top. them those porcelain.. so hard to drill..  sweat.gif
haha.. good luck.. get better branded quality drill bits. its better and last longer.
*
I have never use any diamond core drill bit because never drill on porcelain before. The guy who install my front door use a drill bit said to be fabricated by himself. Look like diamond core bit but with no diamond. Very old guy but very strong that he would not allow me even to help him hold my solid wood door shocking.gif

Yes he drill it slowly. Put water from time to time. Probably 5 minutes. Can't remember... long time ago wink.gif . Anyway, since this hole is exposed, he do not want to have any rugged edge on the hole.

Just use tile bit and water with no hammer. The work to fix crack tile is not worth the risk.
*
Replacing tile is not a problem other than waste of time and additional non-value added work. Finding the same tile is big problem especially if the tile is several years production laugh.gif

to drill a tile without damaging it, easiest way is just to use an impact drill

start with a 2 or 3mm drill bit. whatever u want to choose. what u want is to create a very small pit

its the top part of the tile that is the hardest. once u get past that, u can do wahtever u want

i use an impact drill as i can have more control and the impact energy isnt as devastative as a hammer drill

u can also use liquid paper to mark the point. it helps to create some friction so the drill bit wont slip
*
Just use a nail (concrete nail is the best) and manually hammer it on tile to chip the surface a bit. This way the drill bit will stay on the spot. You can also put an electrical tape and mark the spot. This way also will make the drill bit tip stay at drilling point.

If use diamond core bit, drill at an angle so that the drill bit scratched the surface. Once the drilling point get deeper and deeper, just straightened up your drill and continue to drill the hole.

I go back and will try on floor tile to show you. Floor tile is the most harden tile.

My wall tile really not that hard.

Good. Can share the result.

Maybe I should try also since I have plenty of ceramic tiles around. Just replace porch and pavement around the house. Just that right now quite busy with other things that need fixing. smile.gif

OMG! finally can sau kung kor leen user posted image
this is what i did with the suggestions and help from you guys - thank you to all!

1. use a tile bit (see attached photo)
2. use my cordless drill with the tile bit
3. no need to use a nail to start a hole. just use the tile bit and drill slow onto the spot. the bit wont skid, infact it was very steady and accurate, and takes very little time to start a hole.
4. dip the tip in water every 5-10 seconds, you can hear it sizzle....
5. each blardy hole took me like more than 10mins, like never ending. user posted image
6. drill with the tile bit until at least 1cm which is the thickness of my tile. Many times I wanted to rotary hammer it halfway. I did with one hole and the sides chipped a little so dont take shortcuts. Make sure its passed the tile only use the big gun.
7. last but not least, dont drill tiles ever again.... icon_question.gif

see the tile bit compared with a new one after only 6 holes.
my body aches all over now.... sweat.gif
*
The rough surface tile won't skip normally. The nail chipping is useful for porcelain shiny surface tile.

Once you get the feel of how much force to use, the normal hammer drill (not rotary hammer one) will do faster job after creating initial dent like one suggested biggrin.gif

IC.. Yes that hard tile is not easily chipped one. As long as it is not slipping, why bother smile.gif

hi any attachment for makita to do coring 6 inch for hood vent?

I will just use long 6mm and drill as many holes just inside drawn 6" circle. Then just chisel for perfect circle. My skill was so good that I did not need to do any plastering to cover broken wall plastering or anything laugh.gif

You just need screws. The number 2 and 3 come with so called pop-toggle that is used to lock the screw to hollow wall like gypsum wall used in office (the one like plaster ceiling).

The 1st screw or and screw with tip like that is the screw that is used to screw to metal sheet like screwing the awning roof to metal frame. YOu don't need to pre-drill the metal because the screw itself is like drill bit.

You can just go to ant hardware shop and look for screw like in 2 and 3. If the head is too small for hole on house plate number, there is one that come with washer or buy washer for that. Get a stainless steel one if possible to avoid rust stain in future.

The good about hilti is their A.S.S. They should separate their big corp portfolio and their domestic/small scale kind market; instead bundle all together. Hilti could be game changer;if they are smart enough on these segment. Instead wanking the same ways as others in the way; keep putting new things year by year.

You wont get A.S.S...with dewalt; makita; bosch; milwaukee...so forth.

And it also come down to the question about; feasibility of power tools ownership.

Whats the purpose having lot of power tools; but you only use it maybe 2/5 through out the ownership period. and if there is problem; end up back in bins? rclxub.gif

Hilti will be game changer if they able to create a rental base kind for people who have in-depth of power tools usage- like small cons or skilled users.
*
Hilti is not new company. The target market is mainly contractor. that is why the price target is not for small few people contractors like in Malaysia mostly in home renovation. Even many of them not using pro Bosch series, Dewalt, Hitachi etc. Just use China cheaper one. They do not need to wait for repair or bother about warranty. They would just buy new replacement. If the tool cannot last longer than a year, they will just avoid the brand. The ROI is even better this way than investing on expensive tools.

They do not bother about brand name or long lasting more than 5 years lime most home hobbyists laugh.gif

they dun use cordless or chuck driver/drill, impact or whatnot

semua pakai drill biasa, tarik extension wire torn here and there, no plug cucuk 2 wire in. Pasang signboard 4 storeys high pakai wire china drill, took the time to tarik wire and all.

Sometimes its the matter of cost, but the question is efficiency.

But ada hal any china tool also makes no difference la, but sometimes, it matters. Just more time.
