khusyairi wrote of using Deco's built-in speedtest when he got less enthusiastic result. That suggest it's a wired test by main node cabled to root router.

yeah, m9 plus build in qualcomm ipq4019 is also quite outdated also. it was quite strong when it was first launch in 2018 but since that semiconductor has leap and bounds already.

Name: 4x Arm® Cortex®-A7 Processor

Clock Speed: Up to 717 MHz

well even broadcom bcm6750/6755/6756 family is also stronger that above with higher clock speed and dedicated nat booster function is also stronger

Im part of pesky neighbours, my deco x90 blasting 160Mhz wide and the apps doesn't have any channel wide setting sweat.gif
*
on my newly bought XE75, has option to set either 80mhz OR 160mhz on 5.2ghz band

so it depends on model as well as the firmware implementation/updates

and psa for deco users, do not use switch between onu/modem and decos unit like this

this can cause stability and speed issues

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Oct 28 2023, 10:54 PM)
modem is modem.
router is router.
your diagram put "modem/router" as if it is a single unified unit.
i think what it is trying to convey in simplified manner is the ONU+Router set up, which should be 2 separate functions.

apart from that simple mistake, what is being conveyed by your diagram is correct.
that 3rd diagram does not just "cause stability and speed issues" - it simply cannot work.

--

a router - also called a gateway - is to connect 2 or more otherwise disjointed subnets together.

almost all consumer-grade routers expect each network to be on separate interface. that means 1 cable for upstream WAN interface, and 1 cable for downstream to LAN.

such, a Deco in router mode wired like that diagram and connected only by 1 port to a switch for both WAN and LAN purposes definitely can't work. it's a miracle if it can even function.

if the Deco is otherwise in Access Point mode, then such can work.
*
ya, itu diagram dari tp link official help page dia assume onu pula juga router, ini boleh sebab double nat actually

so my caption hanya mention onu/modem saja lah

Just bought Ax55 and try to setup using tether app.

Sign in pppoe and everything but the Internet led still orange color.

Already ask ISP cs to reset port but issue still persists.

Is there anything else I can do?
*
i suggest NOT to use mobile app setup when possible because bugs

use 192 web management to setup on phone browser or pc
dont forget about vlan/iptv profile

if all else fails, try reset and do setup one more time (use 192 of course)

Any archer ax series and deco X series support WiFi 6

My suggestion is just get deco XE75 (2x) to replace m4 as what I did for the speed

Update :

I'm not setup the VLAN setting. After the setup internet working accordingly.

If I set dns on my router, is there any bottleneck on speed?
*
Nah, just set to popular one like Google or cloud flare and the speed will be the same or slightly faster

How big is your place? Thinking to get single or pair for my place about 2000sq/ft apartment.
Should I wait for 11/11 or not much different?
Thanks
*
I suggest wait 11.11 for vouchers and deals to use
I suggest buy from Lazada later. Ookas has both Lazada and shopee stores via their own as well as tp link flagship store. Shopee is fine but I had sour experiences with the platform especially during big sales

My house is just typical double storey Terrace only

For apartment, just make sure both units put far enough but not to far

How can I setup this from tether app?
*
Not the fan of that app, but you can find the DNS settings in either internet connection (a.k.a wan settings) or lan DHCP settings, but I prefer set at wan level

I also prefer use 192 web interface when possible over such app

If I want to set Cloudflare dns mean both primary and secondary are the same number?
*
For cloud flare
Primary 1.1.1.1
Secondary 1.0.0.1

Then can check 1.1.1.1/help to make sure configuration is correct

not sure when is TPlink m'sia bringing this models in
*
keep in mind TP china is actually seperate from global team now. there zero chance these china domestic models will go global and also if you buy directly 99% will not work with unifi vlan implementation.

for archer counterpart maybe they will launch lower models of wifi 7 at least second half this year

Which hardware version and firmware version btw?
My home on v1 somehow unstable in terms of roaming, something roaming may not happen with my phones when going upstairs

So this is V2 hardware

Because for xe75 got two hardware versions. V1 uses broadcom soc while V2 uses Qualcomm soc. Firmware are different versions also.

V1 got 1.4.0 version which added some features (like useless eco function ported from M4R update). But I can also feel like the roaming function is becoming worse for somehow. (Note: fast roaming, ofdma and beamroaming are on, my phones are running Android with Snapdragon)

Hi all, I am inclined to buy Deco BE65 as my first mesh but I have some concerns coming from Archer series. Not considering Asus because of the price and BE65 with Wifi 7 sounds really good at this price. Also Asus does not support hairpin NAT / NAT looping as far as I know..

However I am used to the web interface of the Archer series and no TP-Link login needed. For Deco can I still access the router settings if internet is down or TP-Link server is down?
Do the latest Deco series like BE65 have DoH/DoT implemented too?
*
none of deco series having doh/dot features being planned for future update, and since deco series are developed by separate team from archer series, you will need to have some drastic change in manage deco.

deco enforced mobile app login (tp link account required) and also if internet is down/tp server is down it is more difficult to manage them other than try rebooting the main deco.

deco have some things being forced on and cannot changed such as channel width (20/40 for 2.4ghz), channel number and ssid for main network being same for 2.4/5ghz. there are workaround for latter, which is make use of guest network or iot network specially with 2.4ghz on only so with different ssid.

web interface is heavily limited to mostly status monitoring and manual firmware upgrade.

Deco for your first mesh is okay. it is more about simplicity because easier to set up and in newer products, the mesh units in box are pre-paired so you can just turn these sub nodes right after setting up main deco and these sub nodes will automatically join. however deco is not really designed for power users which need absolute control over most settings

Thanks, I found this page too after posting and it says all ZenWifi series are supported so hopefully that's true.
that's exactly my worries - I am a power user but for now as long as I can port forward without issue, Wake on LAN works and NAT loopback is supported, I don't need DoH/DoT at router level since my devices have it setup anyway.

But my bigger concern is the mobile app, TP-Link account and if internet/TP server down

Do you know if the Asus XT8 is able to reach 1gbps internet speed on the node if separated by 1 wall but very close e.g. just 4 ft away but 1 wall in between? I can't really find exact test data on this. XT12/ET12 is too expensive. The use case is:
CODE
Main Router ----> || 1 wall || <---- Mesh router --- gigabit switch --- My PC, NAS and mini server

But Deco BE65 has Wifi 7 and the seamless roaming seems to be really good so I am torn.. Should I pay more for XT8 for the robust ASUS firmware, better privacy etc at the (possible) expense of performance.
*
if internet/tp server down you will most probably see this

user posted image

so tough luck manage deco just in case internet down or tp link server down. because deco app heavily relies on tp link cloud service for managing deco

port forwarding is supported in deco

XT8 is not worth for me. it having much weaker hardware compared to on paper spec. you might as well get 2 x AX86u pro or above but its dual band solution is not quite ideal for certain situation

Yikes, I wanna switch my AX88u (Running merlin+DoT) out for a mesh system
Seems like I need to wait for something that's more powerful then
I'm not setting DoH on my phones because PBB app doesnt play well with custom DNS settings doh.gif
*
Merlin doesn't support Ai mesh yet? If on original firmware there always got Ai mesh allowing you to buy another asus router as mesh node

Btw for tp archers series actually some of wifi 7 (be series) also comes with doh dot option but mesh is limited to easy mesh protocol

Change the Deco X20

Deco XE75 is pretty decent I would say
*
I have two of xe75, the problem is lack of support since late last year because most of deco wifi 6/6e eol'ed
Last time got firmware update last October or November last year, until today no firmware update at all
QUOTE(TongCN @ Oct 3 2025, 08:44 AM)
Dunno want go for Wi-Fi 7 model or not
BE series like no new model for the time being ?
*
If spend a lot of money just for wifi 7, stay away from tp link, better look for deals about Asus routers

Now tp link be series, software support I think is quite bad, new features slow to roll out (including the much debated DoT, DoH features.)
