Will the 5ghz band have sufficient speed between first floor and ground floor?
*
As per suggested by bro blacktubi you can give a try with deco m5. I've used c3150 before and I can say, I can get decent speed for both bands wirelessly.

Right, I guess my option right now will be between Deco or C3150. Have to decide which is more feasible. What’s speeds you able to get on 5ghz band with C3150 with distance between up and down floor level?
*
To be really frank with you, the maximum speed that can be achieved by you depends on hardware of wireless client & obstruction present from your router to your current location in the house. To be added further, I used the router during the time I was on 100Mbps package. But, the router does comes with 4x4, hence, with suitable hardware (wireless client), you can maximize the speed you receive. Now I am using AC68U from Asus.

Yup that’s true, but based on your layout how was C3150 5ghz speed between 2 floors?
*
I am staying in 20x70 house (double storey), I must say, during im using 100Mbps, most likely I am able to receive 100% (upstairs) and 70% (downstairs) of my subscribed speed via 5Ghz.

Received my AC3150 this morning, immediately replace my existing Asus AC86U, do i need to add any active cooling to cool it ? I feel the router a bit warm.
*
I don't see any plastic covering the ventilation holes at the top. You might buy a cheap usb cooler (two separate fans - made for AC68U/AC86U) to place either on top or at the bottom (normal usb cooler for laptop) of the router. Advice from ex user of C3150.

True, true... well in that case I just disable MAC address filtering.

Quoting SilentVampire bro, as long as you're using a complex alphanumeric WPA2 password, you are good to go. MAC address filtering is not really recommended tbh. biggrin.gif

Hi guys, I just bought Archer A9 AC1900 router and I'm getting 20-30mbps on the 2.4ghz and around 100/200 on the 5ghz band. I think something is throttling the speed cuz on cable i can get 800mbps easily. Pls help thanks sad.gif
*
First of all, a wired and a wireless connection is truly different. Wired connection don't have any interference, hence you will be able to hit 800Mbps solid and fyi, a physical connection is highly recommended by most network enthusiasts if you want to maximize your total bandwidth. However, via wireless, especially over 2.4GHz, if you're able to hit 100Mbps, is consider good enough already despite of congested signals in your area. You can improve it 1% to 2% if you troubleshoot your network congestion in your place via a dedicated apps such as Wi-Fi Analyzer to acknowledge in which part of your house the major loss of signals occur. It varies for 5GHz where it depends on the device you use itself.

Question about Unifi TPlink AC1200.
Im having a package by Unifi 100mb. The stock router do have Gigabit Lan support . When i did a status checked in network setting, the speed is at 100mb. If i change my network PC card to a gigabit, will the speed improvised to 1000 or it make not much of a difference.

Im in dilemma now whether i should change my network card . Tq.

Try to swap the ethernet cable from your router to pc/laptop first to identify the issue. Sometime the cables can be an issue. But supposedly, the pc's stock ethernet port should be gigabit-capable by default confused.gif . How old is your pc btw?

Thanks for the quote, Brother FusionXY, I am one of a few (or many.....users who already receive the unit from unifi even before the #MCO itself. So speaking of the performance of the M4, I can say, for an entry-level mesh system, Deco M4 is definitely worth it. The only problem is, I already asked unifi if, it is possible to buy the unit from them via cash, yet they insisted on a subscription basis and I am tied up with a separate (not affecting the main account ya) contract for the next 19 months. You can either refer to my personal review or refer to brother blacktubi's review on his experience using this unit. Speaking about wireless coverage, well, i am only using a single Deco m4 unit (another one I kept in the box for the future use in case if this one went kaput) and surprisingly, the Deco M4 able to cover the entire double-storey house and I can even get signal from the road located in front of the house. Do note that my purpose of getting the Deco M4 from unifi to make the Deco M4 work as an access point since I am using EdgeRouter 6P as the internet gateway. If you are looking to make the Deco M4 as the main router, its better to buy a decent performance entry-level ax router. M4 not really good when it comes to be used as a router+mesh due to lack of features, what you can expect from a unit powered by a single-core qualcomm processor? It should be sufficient for basic internet use if you opt to use as router+mesh.

I've placed my Deco M4 at the upstairs and image (poor quality image) as for your own reference.

On Lazada, the 2 pack is going for RM 360. With Unifi its RM 15 per month for 24 months which comes to exactly RM 360. I may as well buy it myself.

In the end, the user has the right to decide over the which option they preferred the most. biggrin.gif

Hi, anyone use TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh? Hows is the review? Is it a router or just a wifi extender? TIA.
*
Its both. It has a router mode and an access point mode. Currently using it as an AP since im using edgerouter. So far, the single node of deco m4 can cover up my parents house (double-storey, 20x70, residential)

Weak Wi-Fi security warning? For those upgraded to iOS 14 recently, you may notice that it says your network is using weak network security on our Deco mesh Wi-Fi.

Starting from iOS14, Apple will show a warning for Wi-Fi network that still allow WPA2-TKIP encryption method. This is happening as our default Wi-Fi encryption for Deco series is WPA2-PSK (AES+TKIP) to improve compatibility with some older devices. We are aware that some old legacy devices or certain smart home IoT devices cannot support WPA2-PSK (AES).

Do not be worried, your Deco mesh network is still secure as we have other measures to enhance the security of the Wi-Fi network.

Our RnD team work really hard to address this and we recently released a beta firmware that let users to choose WPA2-PSK only for enhanced security.

More info can be found on our TP-Link community.
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/227662

Note: There are some risks involved when performing a manual firmware update. We recommend normal users to wait until our official firmware is released on normal channel.

No problem from my end. Using beta firmware for a few days. Everything works as expected. Using the Deco M5 as WAP.
