QUOTE(davidman82 @ Jun 12 2017, 02:51 PM) I am thinking of buying this router, is it ok for 2 storey terrace house? Im living in 20 X 70 double story terrace house. To be honest, this router pretty decent. I haven't test on android box IPTV yet. So you may ask other forumer who using this router currently. Is it support android box IPTV? |

Hi guys. I just receive free router from tm. I believe it is the c1200 from tplink. As mentioned by other forumer about the boot time of c1200, i do agree. However, I want to ask the sifus who is currently using c1200, is it worth to upgrade to recent firmware or stay as it is? I kept away my archer c7 away for future use.

QUOTE(micwk @ Nov 6 2017, 01:55 PM) Dear all, Most forumer will recommend c5 over c1200. But, my advice is, you can get archer c7 for better performance. I will suggest c5 for you. Im using stock c1200 provided by unifi.just recently updated to 100Mbps, what would you recommend? TPLink Archer C5 or C1200? which one is more stable? Currently using TM's Dlink DIR-850 (the cylinder) in which my connection is so so unstable, one minute u get 100mbps next minute you'll get like 20mbps. Note* my router is just outside my room so the signal is always full. A million thanks in advance |

QUOTE(faizalmzain @ Oct 30 2017, 11:45 PM) anyone managed to connect deco m5 with tm unifi? It can be used as an access point of your house my friend. If you have an ethernet cable, you can do some wiring on top of the ceiling and connect the m5 deco to it. be sure you make it function as WPA2 personal only.everytime i tried to connect to PPPoe it failed. the username & password is correct, i have double check by connecting with current router with the same username & password i entered in deco app. for the time being i setup as access point which is not my main purpose of buying it. |

QUOTE(huatty @ Nov 24 2017, 02:03 AM) Finally, send my C1200 to refund. C7v4 is your only option. I am an ex-user of C7v2 (i sold to my friend already). Currently, I am using c1200 provided by tm. I didn't face much problem with the c1200 loaded with AU firmware (previously using Malaysian firmware). I've been using this router for a month after speed upgrade to 100mbps, the router only reboots once only. I am a heavy user and total devices connected to the router is 14 including 2 wireless canon printers. Looking to buy C7v2 as replacement. Any big brother using C7v2 here? mind to share the experience? My main concern will be stability, Maybe will try to setup file sharing as well. *i got very bad experience with C1200, auto reboot, hang, wifi lost connection.....hope C7 will be better. For your question, C7v2 has problem with 5ghz signal stability. Even my current c1200 outperforms C7v2 in terms of wireless connection, to be precisely, 5ghz signal, where my iphone 7 plus can stay connected to 5ghz while previously, my phone automatically shift to 2.4ghz and even that is not stable when I am at outside. fyi, i am staying in double storey house (20 X 70). I heard, C7v4 solves the problem of C7v1 to C7v3. Hope it is not a myth. And that is one of the reason why i sold my c7v2 to my friend. This post has been edited by Jjuggler: Nov 28 2017, 04:45 PM |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 4 2017, 02:29 PM) Hey bro, not yet. I am using the Archer C3150 v2 and it is serving me well so I don’t need to get the Archer C7 v4. But, I am waiting for the next sale to get it as I will have it as a backup rather than the Archer C7 v2, which is okay but unreliable and the firmware is getting old. Nice router there. I sold my archer c7 v2 to my friend. Currently using stock c1200 router by tm. For current budget time, i feel the router pretty reliable than archer c7v2. In future i might get the asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300Anyway, reading Amazon reviews of the Archer C7 v4 shows that it is better than the Archer C7 v2, with improved antennae and firmware. . Haha. |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 4 2017, 03:11 PM) I agree bro. But, I am just curious about the Archer C7 v4. I have the C3150 v2, so I don’t need the C7. I just want to see the difference between C7 v2 and v4. Here is the internal specs for comparison for bro Jjuggler reference as well: Thank you bro.Archer C7 v2: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C7_v2.x Archer C7 v4: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C7_v4.x |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 4 2017, 07:40 PM) Wow, bro. That’s an amazing router if you can get it. But, I would really recommend the TP Link C3150 v2. The coverage is amazing and the new updated firmware has antivirus, QOS, and a whole lot more setting plus they have their dedicated app to manage the router. It is very good. You will thank me if you get it lol, and it cost way less than the Asus router you want to buy, only RM730 now. I have seen it drop to RM680 during Lazada sales. I will definitely try out the TP-Link C3159v2 once my current c1200 dies. Hope in future the price of c3150 will drop. Antivirus? wow. How is the antivirus? |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 4 2017, 08:12 PM) It will drop during Lazada sales, but won’t drop too much. Will send you a PM if it drop significantly. It is Trend Micro antivirus and you can’t really do much with it but it is reassuring to know it is there. Plus, you can update your firmware from the router without downloading anythin. It will search for new updates to the firmware automatically and install it. Wow. That is a nice feature. But my concern is, do the antivirus protect against the virus that comes through the home network or just a normal antivirus like scanning devices and so on? |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 5 2017, 12:32 PM) It blocks the adware and virus that comes through the network so, for example, if one device on the network is trying to access a website, and there is adware on the website, it will block the adware before delivering the website to the device. It also acts as an IPS, or Intrusion Prevention System, so it will block any outside access to your router, and lastly, if your device is infected with a virus, it will stop that device from transmitting anything outside your network. Awesome. After more than a month, i installed tplink tether app in my iphone 7 plus, it seems, my current c1200 (stock by tm) cannot be detected. However, before i sell my c7 to my friend, the apps can detect the c7 router. I guess the firmware for c1200 quite worse and got some bugs. The bottom line is that it is a very good router and I highly recommend it |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Dec 6 2017, 03:37 PM) Not every router / firmware version is supported. my friend, my current router supplied by tm is c1200 v1.Check that from here. http://www.tp-link.com.my/tether_compatibility_list/ QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 6 2017, 06:30 PM) Bro, yours is AC1200 v1? QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 7 2017, 12:04 PM) That’s very strange then. Might be the firmware update from TMt that is messing with the Tether app. I have to manually turn off the wifi at the admin interface rather than using a physical button available at the back of the router since i turn off the led's. |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 7 2017, 02:20 PM) Haha bro, change that damn router if you can soon. If you can’t now, just use it first fir the meantime. Because when you turn off the led's, you cant really know whether you turn off the wireless signal or not. Sometime it activates wps function. I will change the router soon. haha. For time being, i sold my c7 to my friend, and planning to get tplink c3150. |

QUOTE(neekun @ Dec 18 2017, 04:15 PM) Yea that’s what worry me too since first floor and ground floor is separated by concrete. And I don’t want invest in mesh WiFi only to find out its same or worse than current speed. Dear TP-LINK MY, Please provide a bug fixes firmware for c1200. Most of the Malaysian's have to use the router as a part of their respective isp package. I believe tplink is a good and representational brand. Please do focus on c1200 v1 also since that is the version used by most UniFi subscribers. |
