The box is seal. Unless they re-seal it. I believe shall be pre-program set in later firmware than human set.

Anyway I don't see this value is an issue. As long as the screen is constant colour than spot here and there.
*
I dont see it as an issue as well, its just for discussion purpose. The very fact that all devices have different values out of the box and none or little if any came straight out of the box with a 0 can only tell you one thing..

Samsung knows the red-tint issue is real.

anyway if its pre-program set, then how would they determine which device gets a -2 or -4 or even -6..

Im pretty sure you would need a human eye to determine, because they select that option depending on how Red the screen is..

btw of course when given to us the box is seal, but im pretty sure SME can re-seal and even put back new plastic films for the front and back glass, then re-seal the box again..
Because many people had done 1 to 1 exchange, not counting those that opened more than 1 unit. So what will happen to those opened units? They wont just dump it somewhere, instead dump it back into the market and wait for new customers. If new customer accept it then so be it, if customer complaint also then repeat.

I believe possible it is due to different batch or production is different and thus such value coming up so quick to solve it. Anyway this is just my guest.

I find not possible human set because it is too troublesome. Also I don't see shop store free to set it up and later factory reset it and re-seal it. If factory even not possible, they are big huge mass production, if use human eye to detect and fix it will delay a lot the production time.
*
Well official launch of S8 in Malaysia is very late as well. May 4th.

Worldwide was April 21st. Singapore our neighbour was April 27 or 28 I think..

So thats about 2 weeks of delay already. tongue.gif

But those that got it on April 21st, their production date was around late March, for SME units most of the production date is April 16-20.

To check production date dial *#12580*369# and see the RF cal

it depends on the individual. What may be acceptable to you may not be acceptable for me.

If you not satisfied then go and remedy it. If you are happy with your screen as it is, then end of story.

Hey guys, will probably get a preorder unit from a forumer tomorrow. Anything that I should pay attention to?
How to differentiate red tint or not, is it very obvious?
How to check whether it's a completely new set? Any seal or sticker at the side of the box?
How to check warranty? Seller claims 2 years by Samsung and 1 year by SenHeng, total 3 years.

Hope u guys can help me answer my doubts, first time buying from forumer.
*
s8 or s8+?
and how much? Is it new set or 2nd hand?

pay attention to the red-tint issue and also physical condition of the phone. Make sure no scuffs/scratches and no red-tint issue. If red-tint is present, depends on how obvious and whether you can accept it or not. I would suggest if you cant accept it, dont take it. If you find it good, then go ahead.

To answer your ques above:
1) go to the dialer, key in *#15987# and set the Reddish to 0.
2) next go to Settings > Display > Adaptive Display and check the RGB sliders, make sure all at MAXIMUM. and all the other sliders are in the Middle.
3) next under Display Settings as well, turn auto-brightness off and set the brightness to anything above 50%, or higher if you dealing under hot sun, etc. Basically just make sure the screen is bright that u can see colours and stuffs properly.
4) next go to dialer again, key in *#7353# and select TSP Dot Mode, it should show u a FULL white screen. Then proceed to check properly for any reddish tint on the white background.. Check the curved edges of the screen as well!
example of what a red-tint on white background look like:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Ok next steps will depend on whether you can accept the phone condition IF red-tint is present or not-present..
red tint Not present:
5) If no red-tint is present or you find the screen acceptable and to your liking, proceed to dialer and dial *#0*# and run ALL the tests available. This tests the hardware to make sure everything is working, the menus should be pretty self-explanatory and easy for u to understand..
6) check for any dead pixels under full Red/Green/Blue/White and Black background. For White it will be "receiver" for Black it will be "Vibration".
7) once done hardware check, exit and go back dialer and type *#06# to check the phone IMEI number, make sure it is the same as the STICKER which should come on the back of the phone.
8) next check the receipt, if it is indeed 2 years Samsung + 1 year senheng, the receipt date should show proof.
9) depending on your deal with the forummer, pre-order set comes with:
a) starter kit (wireless charger, TWO pieces of screen protector and phone case)
b) 5100 mah fast charge usb type-c powerbank
c) samsung protection plus.

if red tint PRESENT:
1) before doing steps 5-9 above, go to dialer and key *#15987# and set the Reddish to Level 1 (Reddish at -2 or -3) or Level 2 (Reddish at -4 or -6).

2) I suggest never set it to the last option Level 3 (Reddish at -6 or -9), cause that is too extreme and frankly if the device needs to be at level 3 (-6/-9) to hide the red-tint, its better off going to the bin.

3) I also suggest not touching the RGB sliders under Adaptive mode in Display settings to solve red-tint issue. As it may fuck the other colours balance up..
4) if adjusting the Reddish can solve the red-tint issue, then you are good to go to proceed steps 5-9 above.
5) if still reddish tint present, save yourself the trouble and kindly reject the forummer. Its COD after all, not CONFIRM buying. Thank the seller for his time, but kindly reject it. Its not the same as FFK-ing him.
6) make sure you are not rushed into closing the deal, take the necessary time do the necessary checks. The hype or excitement may get you to not check everything properly and I dont want you to regret anything later. As such, make sure you tell the seller you want to check everything properly so that he can allocate his time for your deal, and not be rushing for either party.

Good luck.

the lubangs.. I cannot..

for me looks damn ugly, rather have no lubangs there at all like Original Samsung SP..

If want do lubang2 all then need to do properly like how clear-coat do for you. That one very seamless the lubang make it look like SP non existent.. this one very obvious.. but the back looks ok enough.. Just the front not my cup of tea.

Still lagging while playing mobile legends and other demand games. Thought the s8 will handle everything peefectly.

ask andrekua2 help you.

he also experienced lag, and found out the lag is not caused by the phone, but caused by your LTE line..

Unless you are playing your game with wifi...

Love it so far but so far behind ady got a few scratches. Went ahead and bought the official silicone case and using the screen protector that comes with the preorder bundle.
*
how much did it cost you? just surveying the price. Cause now online sites like qoo100 and lazada can get s8 for 2.8k or s8+ for 3.2k. of course w/o any freebies and the samsung protection plus.. So just wondering how much did it cost you..

Anyway, did u check for red-tint like I suggested to you earlier?

And there is 1 issue here. The audio cut off issue. Playing games and suddenly audio cut off. Same play facebook videos happens too. My solution is go back home screen play some songs then get the audio back and return to game. Any fix for this? Some says software. Some says hardware.

Well, initially they were reluctant for an exchange, saying it can be fixed and estimated to take around 2 weeks. I did not agree and had to talk nicely to them and negotiate.

In the service center, I observed there are also a number of s8 users with various other issues.

This experience opens up the perspective and possibility to me that the new phone sold by certain resellers with an attractive low price below Samsung's RRP could be refurbished units which was returned.

My phone condition is flawless and can easily passed off as a new set once its repackaged.
*
sum1 did say before that those units doing exchange in SC are mostly refurbished units. apparently they fix the problematic units (like for e.g red-tint) then put on new plastic films and reseal the box..

my 3 week old S8+ admitted to service center liao.  cry.gif

The phone suddenly is unable to connect to the telco network to make/receive calls - everything else works fine, wifi, gps, apps, no red tint issue.

Initially thought was a faulty SIM card, so got it replaced by DiGi, but the same issue persists.

Brought to the service center, they checked and confirm its a hardware fault. The manager offered a 1-1 device replacement under warranty.

may I know which SC you went?

That's why the 2weeks is "additional warranty period" for shipping period I guess
So we got more than 1 year warranty for the 1st year
*
... did I not make myself clear on my earlier post?

samsung warranty always come with 1 year and 2 weeks, nothing to do with shipping period.

even if that's the case, we only got our phones on May 4th not April 29th..
Simple logic. How can your warranty start even before you unbox your phone.. doh.gif

The point is that they never give u 1 year and 2 weeks warranty, they gv u 1 year warranty only
Clear? Check and show me if there is anywhere stated that customer will enjoy 1 year and two weeks warranty
Tq
*
since you're being so technical and all, so how come they initially SMS the warranty out stating 4/5/2017 to 17/5/2018 and now its cut short to 29/4/2017 to 12/5/2018?

and also again, how can you get warranty for a product that you have not unboxed yet?
