Want to share my horror experience from my last weekend noob flight.
1) Always check your surrounding first (Telecommunication tower, lamp post, water tower) 3) Avoid take off at lower terrain and surrounded by higher terrain. 4) When it ask you to RTH, you better do. 5) Find My Drone location not 100% correct. 6) Always flight with someone who can keep and eye on your drone whereabout. 7) Always check Wifi signal strength + all sensors strength and level of interference.
Incident summary:
Take off at lower terrain, beside got one humongous water tower, and right beside the water tower there's a humongous telecommunication tower (which i was so noob i never check the surrounding, or maybe the camouflage of the telcom tower really good).
Flight took of nicely till max altitude 500m, at that point battery show 38% (which i though still sufficient to bring it back down) and the RTH warning kick in. I thought min 30% sufficient for RTH so i take my sweet time up there 500m.
Until 30% battery left i activated the RTH and it descending straight down. while descending my RC start to lost signal and the video transmission gone haywire.
At altitude 38m RC totally no control no video stream and i was sooooooo freak out and battery left 17%.
It lost in the wood somewhere 150m from me with my RC keep beeping RTH and my heart was like at the bottom of the sea.
Find My Drone last location shown the drone last stop is at where i'm standing.
With some helps and searching under scorching hot sun for more than 5 hrs we successfully retrieved my Spark.

Haha, same I guess if my drone crash/fly away I gonna wait until a more stable drone out only get it.
When I just got my Spark, it's damn tempting to fly my maiden flight indoor, but luckily I mange to wait until weekend to fly at some clear space
i can't wait and fly indoor. hence my maiden flight are failed . btw, i thought SG lot of area is non fly zone and many restriction.. even some park also protected area.. so where do you usually fly?

If this in Malaysia, you should pull down the video. Shouldn't post video for open violation

Haha, that's what I worry luckily I able to wait, but Spark is quite durable to withstand certain amount of impact.
Due to number of big and small airport in SG, whole north and east is basically NFZ but south part marina bay area is a valid fly zone with max altitude 60 meter. For beginner normally we fly in Marina Barrage carpark, not allow to fly inside marina barrage due to kite. Else you could fly in promontory, singapore flyer, merlion area, chinese garden and a few more place which I did not fly before. Basically all park under "NPark" are not allow to fly and a few sensitive area like port is not allow, there is few case of drone flyer got caught and their mavic got confiscated for few week for investigation
When overseas the price gap is too little which I understand why people are saying Spark isn't that good a purchase.
In Malaysia the scene is different, Spark is RM 2k range minimum while Mavic Pro alone starts at around RM 4.5k so that's A WHOLE LOT of money.
Yeap agree, for oversea its just 200-300 USD different. I think Spark is good for those who first time owe any drone/dji product, any error it's less pain compare to Mavic. and Spark perform well enough for normal user.

Very adventurous. I have not taken it up to more than 200m high. it takes time to descend down even in Sport mode.

ahhh.. ic. at least have some certain place to go but you need to take subway all the way there if your place is a distance from those area. no choice as sg is not big hehe.. at least merlion area still can fly.. so when i go sg, i wonder i wanna bring along my spark or not.

agree with you. i'm just a casual user. not planning to shoot very pro videography or pic. not intend for vlog or blog also. plus i easily eyeing for new gadgets. hence spark is just enough for me. can save some $$ for other new gadgets in the future

Yeah, you should bring! Marina area is a good place to fly your drone, night time able capture some really nice scene. You could try garden by the bay, but dont fly inside. Fly from barrage/singapore flyer then enter from there. Luckily I stay around south west side, so I always cycle/walk to the area, now we have obike/mobike/ofo bike here which very convenient to go anywhere
Yup! That's my thinking too. and when you fly Spark, it actually feel less threatening in public area cause of the toy size. Now flying drone sometimes feel like we are doing a crime, although we follow rule. A few time I'm flying around, alot people pass by stand there and look at me fly

in SG can la using those bikes hahaha.. i always go SG but now seldom cause expensive la.. hahaha
spark although small but still the sound quite loud hence still catch people attention. also drone not very common. not everyone using it.. once everyone using it like smartphone than by that time nobody will gonna look at it anymore
Guys, just got my DJI Spark Fly More Combo. RM2877 after RM100 deduction from 11street discount coupon. Best of all can set installment too. For those in doubt these are legit units with ECS as the warranty provider.
quite agree with the video, those advertise feature not working that well now but so far it's still a not bad drone.
Early release does appear to have some issues and DJI are quick providing quick fixes. Gesture feature are new and first of its kind hence they need further improvement.
Whether Spark is a bad drone or not, it is entirely individual preference. That's no absolute right or wrong.
Personally, I love it. Small and compact. While I wish flight time can be longer, I think DJI did a great job in balancing between size, weight and flight time.

Under Malaysia drone laws, the maximum height you can fly without a permit is 122m or 500 feet. If you are adventurous, avoid posting them in public forum/social media.

Haha, true. Yalo, now exchange rate getting higher Malaysian come is really not cheap.
Yeap, the main part which attracted people attention is the sound, hope in future there will be a silent motor most of the people is just curious normally, but as I read china forum, it's more like a crime there due to the tight security for drone

Agree that normally early release will have issue, we just need to give DJI some time to fix it same with mavic when just release there is also some issue which got fixed now.
Me too, i love the size which is light enough to carry around with my camera. For me, the flight time is sufficient for this size as we cant really expect too much from this size. This is the trade off for being small and light.
Anyone bought the ecs set and tried to do warranty claims? Im just curious as march website stated 11street or lazada seller are not genuine and they may decline your claim.
