catacombs, where you get the hairgrass, in malacca here got?
the shop that i bring you go there one sell it?
i want it...
otto will eat some of the algae, but then not hair algae, unless the hair algae grow on those big big leave surface, then otto will eat, mine is all done by the SAE...

btw, my moss like dying, or like not much nutrition. that day take out and throw those grow with algae one, then re-tide and re-scape it, now like dying... sob sob... need to monitor few days and see...

haha, yaya, the bigger the tank the parameter will be more stable compare to small one. but then the bigger the tank, the expenses will get way too high already... haha...
*
yaya... da same shop in malim... da LFS got shark one... brows.gif
erm... not really hairgrass la... abit like minature lalang.... i guess it will look nice in bigger tank... doesnt really suit my tank... doh.gif

jz now i went there SAE no stock mar... so have to get the otto lor... besides, otto looks cute... haha... jz let him do whatever he is capable of....

QUOTE(Gilbert5107 @ Oct 16 2008, 08:39 PM)

ooo, how many otto you get? just one only?
get 1 or 2 more, but i think for your tank, just get one more, so inside a tank 2 is more than enough.

no, i mean you want me help you in like going your house there and see see the tank if there got anything happen or not?
*
if i have time i'll go scout for one more otto...

jz got a 2 feet tank from my friend... anyone knows how to remove/melt the sealant used to build aquariums??... unsure.gif

talking about photoperiod, i used to open the light for 8 hours. Not long after that, i tried 10 hours. Noticed some spot algae growing on the glass....

is 10 hours too long?
*
around 6-8 hours of photoperiod is sufficient... smile.gif

can a planted tank be done without water change for lets say few months??....

of coz water filter will be running and lighting will be controlled by timer....

anyway, i've visited a few LFS and asked for their expert opinion...

to maintain a planted tank without often water change, i'll need to grow bacteria inside... what kinda bacteria dunno.... ahaks...

how to grow??... pour a layer of bacteria and ADA power sand (some sort la, i also blur adi so many different layer)..... da bacteria will feed on the power sand and grow...

if i jz use fert soil without bacteria, water change is needed because of ammonium buildup inside the tank due to fish food and etc....

so, anyone here selling any of those bacteria n powersand i need ahh??... or can derma some to me... haha... i jz have 1.5 feet tank... vr small only.... blush.gif

bacteria will grow after some times....
additional bacteria add on is to boost up the growth only...
*
means i dont need to add bacter balls??... jz run the tank for approx 2 weeks without fish and the bacteria will eventually grow??...

so cheap nia... good good... mayb i'll throw a few inside and let the tank settle in faster... kekeke... cant wait to dump fish inisde and see them swim about... tongue.gif

QUOTE(pinchboyz @ Nov 27 2008, 12:17 AM)
of course with the fish also la...
the fish will sh1t, and the bacteria will eat the sh1t....
put bacter for the sake of ease....

oooo.... haha.... i still blur about the ecosystem inside da planted tank... haha.... now regret why din study hard during science class last time... laugh.gif

jz setup my stupid tank... but got a few problems...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

HOB filter seems abit small... flow rate vr low... i can see stagnant water at the other side of the filter.... will this be ok??...

but this HOB filter is the same size with my melaka tank HOB filter... dat one in melaka, flow rate vr high... this one sucks... how can i increase the flow rate??...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

2nd problem.... ipoh got no LFS which sells nice aquatic plants... cry.gif
damn, have to wait next week only can setup coz might be going back penang to buy.... all my schedule ruined.... mad.gif

3rd problem... lighting... currently using my old table lamp... only gives out 9W... definitely not enough IMO... i suggested diy higher wattage lighting at lower cost but rejected by mum coz tak cantik... lolz....
mayb will stick with this 9W light and plant low light plants and keep everything running slow...

4th problem not actually a problem... convincing parents to invest in pressurized co2 tank... but of coz they want it at cheapest cost... hoping can find small co2 tank from shops besides LFS (surely LFS will sell more expensive)... mayb hardware shop if they carry them...
the question is...
will the co2 tanks from hardware shop suitable for plants??...
can regulators bought from LFS suitable for co2 tanks from hardware shop??...

one more question... why my soil got bubble ahh??... due to the bacterball i put inside??.... unsure.gif

1. looks like ur HOB is adjustable flow .. try turning the knob there .. my hob also like that ..
3. buy 55w PLL and e-ballast .. below rm50  buy some wiring also ..owh . dont forget those cheap reflector ..
4. u can get pressurized tank for 200 like that .. manual regulator between 50-90 ..solenoid regulator 200-300 .. its a good investment ... refill would cost around 30-50 depends on shop ... refill like only once a year.. depends on ur bubble rate and how long u turn on a day ..

well . co2 tank is a co2 tank . no matter where it comes from .. even the fire extinguisher can be used for co2 tank .. they can hold the same pressure around 1000-1200psi .. the co2 gas refill at LFS aje lor ...most co2 tank uses the same regulator valve size at the bottle neck .. shouldnt be a problem .. if cant fits .. can get from pneumatic shop ...

bubble normal lor .. just trapped air when u put the soil only ... owh .. i think ur soil to thin .. put more ...
*
the HOB adjusted to max flow already.... datz why i'm asking for alternative solutions...

if diy lighting from scratch, yes can be done, but will look abit ugly rite??... sweat.gif

pressurized tank cost rm200??... in penang da tauke told me can get for about rm120... mayb smaller tank lar...
yea, invest in co2 tank will be more cost saving in long term... but the question now is, does my parents have the same long lasting interest with it.... haha.... sweat.gif

soil too thin ah??... mayb i'll buy 1kg more.... sad.gif
