QUOTE(spirit of demon @ Sep 27 2008, 03:00 AM) hello, i m newbie here....recently, i get attracted to this palnted tank when i looking for some java moss for my fish hi, welcome to the planted tank.i hav read up the first 13 pages n the recent 3 pages(38,39,40)... my eyes get blur d... some more got 2 therad... one is planted auarium.. one is the one wif 55k warning one.. but, i decide to stick wif this one first.. coz my eye already blur reading up all this.... may i know... if we keep a betta in a planted wif injection of CO2, the fish won't die mer? i tot fish nid oxygen not carbon dioxide ya.. if i dun put any light and any CO2 for the java moss, will they survive? java moss is kind of slow grower, isn't it? i found that, it dun actually glow, when i juz dump them inside the tank... the fertilizer for the plat will ruin the fish or not? erm.. ya... any sifu here got some java moss to let go.. pls let me know too.. quote me cheap abit.. i juz wan to put them for my fish... sry, i know i shud ask in garage sale instead. but, since i hav question here, so tumpang kejap lo.... co2 is for the plants, plants will release oxygen for ur fish. of cos the co2, lights, plants, n fert hv to be in balance... too much of anything also wouldn't be good java moss and java fern with out proper planted tank light is ok. but they still need light or sunshine from ur window. no co2 inject is ok i got some spicky though... free.. but how to pass to u? but just abit cos i pull them from my crs tank.. not much there |

hi the_catacombs,
welcome here.. yes u can make a nano tank. but nano is very challanging and u may need to get some smaller fish. do a simple low tech nano will be nice try to use stone rather than wood. cos wood will raise Ph, then u will suffer from Ph swing. |

QUOTE(the_catacombs @ Oct 7 2008, 12:36 PM) yeap... i know nano is challanging... but i'll keep things slow and steady... i'll try get some java moss and throw it at the bottom.... i heard these plants are hardy plants... haha.... the stone make sure not limestone ya..what i'll be supplying them is jz my 9w florescent table lamp, a small water filter with minimum water flow, co2 provided by my tetras, soil from small gravel.... thanks for the wood tip... i thought of using it at the bottom to replace my black plastic thing on the right... haha.... mayb now i'll search for alternative deco.... stones are nice but vr hard to come across suitable size and shape for my nano tank... also check the temp of ur tank. more than 28oc some moss may melt also. |

what is ur tank H x W x L?
the smallest CO2 cylinder, get 2Liter one. those really relaly small one alot is dispost one. canot refill. hardwareshop canot get the CO2 cylinder, but u can get from those CO2 refill shop. they hv some 2nd hand cylinder which is cheaper. but so check the expired date of the tank. also make sure, last time the cylinder is using liquid co2. not powder. ur HOB slower can it be the inflow there u add a sponge? remove it n see how.
