QUOTE(frankzane @ May 28 2008, 02:14 PM) Yup, all got. if your tank is 2 X 1 X 1, at least u will need 37W of light. But I want to upgrade my light later as well. Currently, I have two 15W fluorescent light for my 2 feet tank. But i remember someone in this thread told me that it's not enough. The problem is, I can't seem to find a 18" light which has more than 15W!!! |

QUOTE(xyber9 @ Jun 14 2008, 06:05 AM) I have just started a planted aquarium. Hi welcome here,Can someone tell me what is the round pellets and white cylinders for in my filtering system. [attachmentid=497453] 1st this filter is not suitable for planted tank. with the water flow in with air, it blow ur CO2 away. those brown n white ring in ur filter is all filter media, and bio-ring. it help you to keep the good/benefit bacterial in ur tank cycle. how big is ur tank. if its a small tank less than 2 ft, its better u get a hang on back(HOB) filter. |

is there any cover for ur tank. u hv to take out all the cover.. cover will be too hot for plants. they need temp below 28oC.
the filter u hv to change for sure. it is better u run ur cycle for 2 weeks then u start to plant, then check for ur ph.. till it stable around 6.x then u can add fish. don't rush. got photo for ur whole tank? what substract u using? |

soil( what soil u going to use), stone( make sure use the right stone, no coral! wood in. filter up, water in. just leave it like that for 2-3 weeks.. if water is crowded , do water change..
then only plants in, till u see plants are healthy... ... then only fish in.. then snail in.. then shrimp in... This post has been edited by nezumitaro: Jun 20 2008, 01:56 PM |

ok if u using ADA soil, when the soil is new, it will pull the Ph down.. and its full with No, run ur filter and do WC, get a ph tester. just run with empty tank the cycling will start with that. and benefit bac will grow.
its the same, we only move in the house that had finished build rocal is a big NONO in planted tank ph should be around 6.X |

QUOTE(zio @ Jun 20 2008, 05:47 PM) Yikes! How come everything I am interested in ends up being expensive when u start ur tank, which is empty. u can even do a 100% WC, if u r using amazon I, then u will need to do alot WC to clear the water. water u hv plants, do a 30% WC, 2 times a week. this is what i do Ahh thanks.. water change.. 10-20% everyday? or few times a week? QUOTE(xyber9 @ Jun 20 2008, 07:46 PM) My lighting is 2 X 8W 6500K Daylight 7" flourescent lamp. what is the size of ur tank? try get hold on 2X 9WPLL if u r a 1ft cude. if bigger than 1 X 1 x 1, the light is not enough. hmm table co2 ah..C02 I am using tablet - one each day.
