Yeah, me too.
If no electricity, still can use.

Before 20 June 2017, you have the following options:
1. You can keep the old number in copper for RM1 a month (call charges incur when calling out).
2. You also get a new number for Unifi. That means you will have 2 numbers.
3. You can terminate the old number and use the new Unifi number.

After 20 June 2017, you have the following options:
1. if you want to keep the old number in copper, have to pay RM25 per month (not sure if it includes free calls to TM numbers).
2. You can move the old number to Unifi.
3. Terminate the old number since Unifi provide you with a new number.

TM prefers one house to have one number only.
*
Unifi ONU can support 2 numbers. Soon they will relocate your old number to a ONU VOBB port.
As the old number can be ported into the Unifi ONU (since 20/6), eventually they will start to remove the copper infra from the street to save the maintenance cost, and they will stop new application for streamyx service at Unifi Adv/Pro/Lite areas.

so now I cannot connect to my fax machine?
*
Why can't? you still get the voice service @ Unifi.
And, more and more people use email and whatsapp (in pdf file) to send documents instead of sending fax!

unifi is fiber,right ?

hmm.gif
*
Unifi can be Fibre to the cabinet (VDSL2/FTTC, then copper from the cabinet to your house) or Fibre to the House/Property (FTTH/FTTP).
You should be staying at a landed house and at an affluent area, then you get FTTH.
TM will remove all the copper wires from your street. TM gives you the best technology.
IF FTTH you may get 1Gbps in the future; if VDSL2, you may get up to 25Mbps only.

For area without fiber optics, is it possible request to subscribe UniFi Lite using VDSL infrastructure? Since copper line (Streamyx) is actually capable to obtain 10Mbps+, can one subscribe UniFi Lite package while using Streamyx infrastructure as long as achieve 10Mbps+/- speed and 5Mbps upload speed.
*
Streamyx (ADSL) - Copper from TM Exchange to the Street Cabinet (existing), them copper from Cabinet (old) to your house.
VDSL (FTTC) - Fibre from TM Exchange to the Street Cabinet (new cabinet), then use existing copper wires from Cabinet (new) to your house (less than 1km +/-).
Only if VDSL infra (Fibre from Exchange to Cabinet) is available, you may get Unifi Lite. So you don't need to request for VDSL.

RM99 for 10Mbps Internet + RM30 for HyppTV Everywhere (You choose Ruby pack).
No HyppTV Box provided. You need to use your own PC/Smartphone/Tablet/SmartTV/TVBox and install HyppTV Everywhere app.

So I'm wondering
Last year budget pm promise speed upgrade Right?
So after getting Unifi lite, will us get any speed upgrade?
😁

Since we are loyal TM user and technically this Unifi lite not speed upgrade promised by pm rather it's a promotion.
*
May happen in 2018-19 only, after PRU14. That's why SUBB's spec is 20Mbps.

*
According to Broadband Improvement Plan 2017, Streamyx users should initial (voluntary) to migrate to Unifi 10. Not automatically speed upgrade. May pay more or pay less.

Well if thats the case, looks like streamyx user option will be "upgraded" to 10mbps package

So actually, streamyx user untung already. Paying rm140 4mbps now paying 129 for 10mbps
*
Not really untung, We have arrived at the cross road to decide if we want to migrate from ADSL to VDSL/FTTH.
There are some users paying RM60 for 384Kbps, RM90 for 512Kbps, RM68/100/110 for 1Mbps, RM83/120 for 2Mbps, RM88 for 4Mbps who are not interested to migrate.
For your case, you may pay more or pay less in your bills. Now you get better download speed, HyppTV Everyone, Caller ID Presentation, but you have to pay more for calls and electricity.

Got a point there.. without the hypptv, d Unifi lite package only rm99 which is much worthy.

Luckily I don't use home line so no worried there. I was hopping d home line can be terminated to save a few bucks

But what u mean by pay more for electricity?
*
Hehe 2 devices instead of 1 modem, making call also need to consume electricity now. Because of better speed, may tend to spend more time on your PC/TV/Phone/Tablet.
Also, sooner or later, TM may introduce Unifi Super Lite or reduce Unifi lite pricing to kill Streamyx 384/516/1/2.

Currently a streamyx user with no contract. Possible to straight upgrade from streamyx instead of terminate current streamyx first?
*
Unifi at your area is VDSL2 (FTTC) or FTTH?
If VDSL2 (Copper), you need to terminate your Streamyx to give way to Unifi VDSL2.
If FTTH (Fibre), then ask for migrate to Unifi, TM will install a new cable from DP to your house. You should be prepared to pay for some installation cost (eg wiring inside ceiling).

https://www.tm.com.my/OnlineHelp/Documents/...nstallation.pdf

What are the charges for installation fee and equipment?
Installation charge for UniFi is RM200 (currently waived for standard installation for 15 metres
only). If your premise requires non-standard installation or additional cabling, extra charges
will be imposed by TM Contractor at
https://www.tm.com.my/OnlineHelp/Documents/...nstallation.pdf.
The standard package is inclusive of equipment worth approximately RM1,000 that will also
be given free-of-charge to customers.

Try 10Mbps first, it will be upgraded to 20Mbps in the future if you trust Pak Jib. You can upgrade to higher speed anytime without paying penalty.
