Wondering if anyone can tell me how I can get my hands on a HyppTV set top box?

I want to cancel my UNIFI contract but since its still within contract i have to return both the modem and the set top box. After moving house, i have misplaced the set top box and only have the modem.
They want to charge me for missing the set top box. Can anyone help??

TMNet will charge RM500 for not returning the full set of equipments (cordless phone, modem, router, set top box). Its ok, my brother told me he has an extra set top box so i will get it from him. But i wonder if TMNet keep tracks of each serial number per equipment? So if i return a different box, will they know? Hmmm....

They cannot keep track of the serial number of each unit they installed.
Some users might have reported problem and the technician might have changed it.
You return a spoilt unit, they also don't know. They just account what items you return to them. Don't think they power up every item to check if it is working. They just chuck them in a corner.
They just want to make life miserable for us.

Lol. Reminds me of going to TM to replace my faulty modem which is still under warranty.

The technician digged thru a huge pile of modem strewn in a huge box and pluck out one. Tested power on and gave it to me.

I dislike the fact that i have been on unifi since 2009 and then they call you up in 2015 and ask you if you want to upgrade to faster bandwidth speed and you say yes and naturally they tie you down with another 2 years contract and want you to return all equipment when you cancel unifi before the contract is completed. And these equipments i use since 2009!!!!! WHAT THE!

this cannot be right.

if router and stb are original equipment, they are yours after one or more previous contracts expired.

note router and stb have original 1 yr warranty only; if kaput, u need to buy yourself.

and they did not provide new ones for this cancelled contract, right?

modem, yes, need to return as this is always unifi property, theirs.

think u should go into tm point where u signed, ask to speak to manager, ask where in the contract says u need to return the old/expired stb.

Not really! I signed up Unifi from day one. I only replace the STB after Unifi change the STB to white box. I got a free replacement after I told them the LCD displace on the silver unit is faulty. At first they told me if the unit damage by lightning I have to bare the cost (RM150) but since is the LCD display that is faulty they will change it for free. The service guy came and didn't even test the old STB and changed for me straight away. smile.gif

the relevant question then is, "is the STB the property of unifi and under warranty at all times when u r a customer of unifi, whether valid or expired contract".

to my knowledge, the answer is YES for modem only. not for router and stb when 1st yr is over.

perhaps the answer varies from package to package, contract to contract... like they F around with diff prices for same package at diff times for diff people in diff areas!! biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone, I managed to terminate my contract with UNIFI and changed to MAXIS. MAXIS used the UNIFI modem and all i needed to do was show TM NET my maxis billing invoice and i didnt have to return the modem as this is understood between TM NET and MAXIS.
