Requested for temporary credit limit increase, with the reason for travel/hotel bills. Successful. But question is.... Would the increased amount can be charged for this purpose only? Like for specific merchant for fuel (e.g. Petronas, Shell), hotel bills (Sheraton, Hyatt) or it is does not matter? It is Maybank Petronas Visa.
*
afaik, it doesnt matter actually

the conditional temporary increase of CL is more of goodwill basis in case of genuine need of use (eg emergency, travel, hospitalization, etc)

Understand that service tax RM25 are charged by government. Anyone knows if bank can waive this off (with any condition set by them) by calling their Call Centre?
*
always call to request 'rebate'
for all bank
whether they grant or not, is another matter.
at least you asked for it.

don't use 'waiver' word though. banks cannot waive tax

Thanks. Called CIMB just now and they told me not possible to "waive" this, as its charged by government.
Maybe I should use the word "rebate" instead.  doh.gif
*
try use some other keywords like loyalty rebates, goodwill rebates, etc biggrin.gif

Just wondering, when bank talks about minimum swipe of 12 times per year to entitle waiving of annual fee;

Does it mean physically swiping the card or online transaction will be fine? Does wave even count?

Which is a better card? HSBC Visa Signature or the new UOB World Mastercard(previously Citibank Rewards card)
*
put more criteria le. better in terms of what aspect?

"better" is a very vague and subjective term, and it differs from person to person as each individual has different usage and expectations from the card.

Sorry for my noob question. I'm new to credit card, baru my first month using it.
*

fyi. for maybaank card, m2u doesn't overpay. but you can overpay from external bank transfer.

Hi all, I'm going to make a big purchase (RM20k to RM30k) on furniture (bed mattress, sofa, wardrobe, table, chair, etc.) and home appliances (air conditioner, ceiling fan, lighting, refrigerator, washing machine, smart tv, etc.) for my new house. I'm looking for a credit card that gives cashback for my spending on furniture and home appliances. Preferably no cashback cap, but I don't mind applying multiple credit cards to maximize the cashback. Thanks in advance!
*
u gotta plan when to buy these, how long to get new cards, etc

1) mostly from big chain shops like Harvey norman or senheng? or each item diff shop? online stores?

2) does the shop accept amex? can try MBB amex gold Cashback with no cap.

3) if majority shops cannot cover from cards, for me lah, I prefer do flexipay/balance transfer lumpsum.

sometimes for me, simplest approach is more practical and easier to manage later.

of course I try to maximize my current cards first, without applying new ones. remaining do lumpsum.

just my 2cents

If I have an installment plan from Maybank CC, can I pay more than the monthly required amount to free up my credit limit?

Eg 6 months, but I chose to pay like twice the amount in a month (shorten the length by half).
*
no point doing

instalment amt is precalculated, and only "released" back to card each month for billing/statement.

the remaining still reserved by the system.

just pay monthly statements amount will do.

no need to think about the instalments. treat it as additional spend. smile.gif

Dear Sifus,

i have been using credit card for 4 years but never once i take cash advance. i just want to know how cash advance interest work? in case got emergency like need RM500-RM1000 cash, i can still opt for this if the interest is tolerable.
*
not worth for ANY amount withdrawn from cc

read example explanation here https://www.cimb.com.my/en/personal/day-to-...sh-advance.html

aside from fees and charges, it's how fast you settled it. interest will snowball fast and furious.

Dear Sifus,

I just got my hlb CC today(not activate yet). if i want my statement date fall on the 10th of every month, should i only activate the card on the 10th?
*
no, it's already predefined based on approval date

contact hlb to change the statement date after activation

iinm, there's no statement for 10th. last i checked, nearest available dates for you could be 7th or 11th.

Noob question. when should i call the bank to waive my credit card annual fee? before or after they bill the annual fee in my statement?
*
errrr common sense?

af need to be charged first before you can request for af waiver lor

if not charged yet, on what basis to waive? biggrin.gif

also, you already agreed and acknowledged there will be af associated to the card.

waiver will be subject to mgmt discretion to grant or not.
