QUOTE(milyk @ Apr 3 2018, 12:22 PM)
I have not started working. I have a primary CIMB cash rebate credit card. No other commitment. I use my credit card solely for petrol and is fully paid monthly

I intend to acquire a Maybankard 2 Platinum because my dentist accepts AMEX. I approached Maybank and was told I could pledge an FD of 10k at a effective board rate of 3.X%. My questions are:

1. I have read that Maybankard 2 requires more than 10k FD(on forum). Is 10k as told my officer the minimum amount. Am I most likely to fail the application?

2. When I pledge FD, do I get paid the interest rate? Or as long as the bank holds my FD, they are the one to collect the interest?

3. Is my calculation correct? 10k FD @ 3% = RM300 yearly. 2 x dental treatment of RM1000 =2x cash rebate of RM50 = RM100

10k FD at promo rate 4% = RM400

So if my dentist charges RM 1000 twice on weekends it is worth the lower FD rate?

4. Is dentist/ clinic charges considered as retail and subject to cash rebate?

Thks

Temporary stopped working or never worked b4?

Anyways -

1. 10k can get plat if I am not mistaken.

2. Yes, board rate FD.

3. There are better ways to earn money but yes, your calculations could be accurate.

4. Yes.

Need urgent help
Is there a forum on disputing charges on credit cards.
How can one dispute the credit limit with the bank. I have told my bank that they had increased my credit limit without my knowledge. My credit limit is rm 4000 more than I thought it would be. As a result of this increased credit limit a fraudulent transaction went through and I am having hard time to dispute the case. The bank is completely ignoring my plea that my credit limit is much higher than I had agreed to.
Thank you

I believe you will have a hard time to dispute that limit increase.

Why don't you dispute the fraudulent transaction instead? Would be an easier case to win.

After the last cc rejection 3 months ago,I got rejected again by Maybank
I am slightly above the minimum salary to apply(10%) but my CCRIS is 0 (no commitment)
I applied online though instead of the mall kiosks that they have

Head to the one in 1 Utama or Gardens.

Better chance there.

I did dispute the fraudulent charges immediately after they showed up on my account.
I want to prove to the bank that among other mistakes they made they  also increased my credit limit without my knowledge. They refuse to provide me with my initial application which may have an indication of my credit limit.
In other counties you tick a box on your application when you choose a credit limit.
Appreciate any further thoughts on this.

Bank can offer to increase your limit, actually.

They might send the SMS to inform you of the same.

Of course, bank at any time has the rights to increase or decrease your limits, at their discretion.

Is it legal for banks ( credit card companies) to take money from your account , without your permission, for a disputed charge. Or do they need a court order?
*
This one gray area. If it's proven that the disputed charge was from your wrongdoings and you did not take sufficient "effort" to prevent it, they have the right to pursue all available methods including blacklisting you at CCRIS and etc.

However, they will usually issue you a letter written black and white if they do take money from your account (but so far I yet to know anyone who received such harsh treatment lol)

Mind sharing which bank is yours? There are a few banks with poor reputation in customer issue handing related, e.g HLB. And there are others that are more open like MBB.
*
In my opinion, I felt like MBB are the more "poorer" ones when it comes to handling customers.

I have few "simple" issues with them but it took a lot of nasty email exchanges and constant complaints to BNM to get things done when it comes to MBB accepting responsibility for their T&C errors and etc.

So far, HLB has been great for me. Few calls and things are done the right way before I need to flip table.

Worse bank in my opinion would be Alliance bank. They can bullshit you without blinking but when you ask them for the "exact" T&C black and white, silence ensues. Blasted them hard few times till their staff see me also sienz d laugh.gif

It will take 2~3 days to see the actual amount posted sometimes.

Nothing to worry about, actually.
